I actually think the 12 looks better than the pro.
🤔 it looks a little bit tacky with all that shine

I agree. It looks awful and very cheap.

People on here use to give Samsung **** for that glossy metallic look and now Apple stick it on a basic looking frame and it looks so bad most thought it was a Chinese fake.

The 12 looks nicer due to the matte frame and at least it has black and not some crap grey again.

Ordered the pacific blue and I hope it’s not as poor as this one.

Wireless charging pads aren't all that bad; you get confirmation of successful alignment via screen & chime. With MagSafe, you'd still have to get close enough to feel the magnets attract each other.

Oh I know, my phone charges just fine every night with the same setup as my wife. But I have more that once wished there was a wireless charging pad that would perfectly align the phone every time so I didn't have to line it up right.

I'd find it a lot more annoying to have to tear apart the magsafe (possibly snagging the wire, which undoubtedly will be the toilet paper thin variety of apple cables) when i sleepily grab at the phone in the morning when the alarm wakes me up.

But hey, at least these phones will continue to work my Qi chargers, so guess we both have our problems solved. High Five!

I really don't think it's going to be that hard. Think of how you pick up your phone now, I tilt it a little as I slide my fingers behind the phone. With magsafe your fingers will just push the magsafe off to the side as you naturally slide them behind the phone.

I bought a PB and silver pro model to compare. This unboxing made me second guess not grabbing graphite, though. 😍

One thing that makes me cringe is how shiny the sides are. All I envision is how scratched they're going to be from normal use and how much it's going to irritate me. 😟

Skipping the blue for the white one. I will also wait until they release pacific blue like the one I have for my 10s.

Cape Cod cloths can do amazing things on Stainless Steel.

That is one shiny frame!
Interested to see how the Panic Blue plays out. Is it Friday yet?

Not normally a case guy, but for some unknown reason (maybe boredom), I did opt for this:
20% discount with 1st time purchase.

So far I’m a fan of the flat sides. Waiting to see how the gold looks because that’s the one I’m picking up this Friday.

It looks like that dude is getting his inventory ready for eBay with the blue version 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ugh, those sides look so cheap. As if someone put some metallic coating on plastic to cover up for a cheap build. I know its steel, but it still looks terrible in the video...
Yeah I thought it looked a lot more shiny/cheap than the SS on the X/Xs/11 Pro. I prefer the darker space grey to the graphite but will reserve judgement until I see in person. Also, what’s with both videos not showing the displays? Why are they not removing the cover and turning the phone on?

Is the graphite stainless steel DLC coated like the Watch? Otherwise, that's going to scratch sooo easily.

I Believe they are all PVD Coated (Similar to the previous iPhone 11 Pro Model), which would still offer substantial protection against scuffs/scrapes, but not on the level of durability of DLC the watch casing has.

Direct from Apple:

“They’re engineered with an advanced PVD process that provides a spectacular luster” then mentioning that the new gold uses “a high-power magnetron coating process”

For all those people complaining that the shiny surface looks cheap, it’s polished stainless steel - it’s not like it’s some cheap metallized plastic. And at least with silver version, you can easily polish out any scratches it develops over time, and it is less likely to scratch in the first place as its surface is harder than the aluminum.

The other thing that you don’t get from a video clip like this, is how the different materials feel. The stainless steel, even in polished form like this, will feel different (better) than the aluminum version.

It definitely look fake at first. Especially the white film but when you look at the 2nd video (the blue iPhone 12), you will see the Serial Number clearly. When you search that SN, G6TD9LPV0F0V, on Apple's Check Coverage page, it actually shows as iPhone 12. o_O
