Wow what a big deal with shinny edges. It’s the forth year with shinny SS and the first that has drawn such a big attention. I personally think it looks and feels much better than aluminium, and foremost it’s way more resistant.

The shiny edges really don’t matter since it will have a case on it for most. Durability wise the aluminum will also have a case on it so that really doesn’t matter. But one difference you can tell will be the weight of the phone. The aluminum will be way lighter. I have been waiting for awhile for a OLED aluminum iPhone after using just the x, then xs, and 11 pro models. Stainless steel serves little purpose in a phone, zero actually. The 7000 series aluminum is durable enough for almost anyone outside a hydraulic press. There is a reason Samsung, Oneplus, and every phone manufacturer other than Apple use it. Weight. Apple just ignores this because their Apple.
Aluminum also conducts heat way better. Stainless steel not so much. Hardness is closer than people think. I have a stainless steel Apple Watch but I like the added weight and the sapphire. In a phone not so much.

Apple warns the fine for opening these before October 23, 8:01 a.m. is 200,000 RMB ($30,000).

Looks like nobody cares about that based on the number of unboxing videos on Weibo.

i agree. I was going with the blue, but after seeing graphite, I’ve changed my mind. Beautiful!
I only got the graphite so I would have an easy time getting the phone. All the colors look great but I expect Blue will be too subdued like the green last year.

I’m glad they’re using less plastic by using a paper screen protector during packaging. Hopefully the box isn’t wrapped in plastic as well.

Wow, I didn't expect the stainless steel borders to be this shiny. I love it!

I didnt expect them to be this shiny and I hate it.

The polished steel was barely acceptable for me on the 11 pro, but because of the curve they were fine. However due to the flat sides, that gloss is accentuated.

I really want the pro phones due to the camera and lidar, but that Shininess is really getting to me. And no I never use covers on my phones and never will.

A store visit is in order [when they actually open......] to make the decision on this one.

The new design is beautiful. Ended up with graphite for me and gold for misses as I prefer consistency across all devices (iPad Pro, Watch, iPhone Pro are going to be close right now). Goes in a case either way, but loving the new design.

MagSafe sounds annoying when trying to grab the phone off the charger. Wont it just lift the base up too? Is there Velcro or something? Seems like it’s solving a non existent problem.
It has some of the advantages of a charging mat and some of a port charger. You can quickly use one hand to attach and detach the charger, and you can charge it while using it.

i could not decide so i got the black and blue pro i will see which one looks better in person and return the other lol but the cheaper blue 12 does not look very good at all.

Yeah the new design looks amazing. Not sure about the SS...looks very shiny but that could be there camera lighting. I love the SS on my 11 Pro, and will upgrade to 6.1” 13 Pro or whatever it is called next year. The gold will look like jewelry. My wife‘s 11 Pro in gold is a really beautiful phone.

I think MacRumors needs to hire Aaron (Zollotech). He always does very thorough videos that are straight to the point, without all the needless verbal diarrhea and unnecessary graphics.
His videos are not straight to the point. He's good but he often spends the first 5 min of every video going over useless stuff like looking at build numbers of iOS betas, etc or benchmarks that are equally as useless for beta software. His videos are just way longer than they need to be and repeats himself A LOT.

How is this guy in the video playing around with them? You can see loads of the devices laying around in boxes in what looks like a bedroom!

Surely they would be shrink wrapped?

I appreciate everyone posting the unboxing videos that have been made before they should be. That said, have we found a Pacific Blue iPhone yet?

Just patiently waiting. Tag me when you find it. Thanx!
