It's amazing to me that they still have the flexibility to add features this late in the game for a product that has to be manufactured in the millions. Shows how streamlined and efficient their operations/supply chains are.

It depends when the production actually started for which model. If you look at the Apple iPhone typical production, it usually commences in mid July when it starts mass production, but given that there’s a staggered launch in all likeliness this year, the 120Hz Display is exclusive to the ‘Pro’ model, which is the later model to be launched away from the ‘entry level‘ iPhones.

I wonder how many people would delay upgrading. I have an XS, which is still a great device. The 120Hz display is something that might get me to switch. But, as I learned last year, it's nice to take a break from constant upgrades.

I would guess the backlash of dropping a major feature would be far greater and lasting than simply saying the Pro model comes out in November. with dropping the feature you've written it off for a full year. Delays in 2020 are not really something people are complaining about.

Well given the economic conditions, delays aren’t something that make a difference one way or the other to the consumer this year with spending down, (Especially on a smart Phone). The only thing that matters Apple, is launching in the peak holiday season, to finish off the fourth quarter.

120Hz , larger screen and a smaller battery than the current Pro Max. Cue the Apple September event of 2021 for the iPhone 13 pro max which will have 5 more hours battery life than the 12 pro max Absolutely comical.

I may delay upgrading if it doesn't have 120hz and still has a notch. I have the 2018 iPad Pro and its 120hz display is such a joy to use. Otherwise. I will stick with my iPhone 8+ for a little bit longer.

The notch won’t Be eliminated for 2020. Reduced slightly, maybe. So you’ll likely be holding on your 8 Plus another year.

better delay it to have that freakin 120Hz ProMotion, better cameras, faster processor and boxy design will be boring especially that LIDAR scanner, please give atleast iPhone 12 Pro Max a ProMotion even if it means delaying it cope up with samsung they have 100x zoom and 120Hz already

Can we scrap the iPhone 12 rumors and just get to iPhone 13 rumors already?
It is pretty obvious that if you don't care about 5G, there is zero reason to get a iPhone 12 at this point.
Like 120hz tech is some unicorn that surprised them at the last minute, it has been out for over 2 years already, correct?

Apple should go for it, even if it causes a 1-2 month delay.

There's been indicators that this year will be a super cycle year. And with people flush with COVID stimulus checks and extra unemployment money, it would be in Apple's best interest to capture as much of that money this year, rather than wait until next year when people will more likely be in worse off financial situtations and have no extra discretionary money. And it's heading that way.

I’m in the “I dont notice 120hz” club. I understand that its important to some people but its just not something that I am capable of appreciating.

It seems that most people who say they don’t care about the 120hz screen are admittedly saying they’ve never used one. Yet still have a very strong opinion that it isn’t necessary. Also, those concerned about battery life seem to not realize how adaptive displays work.

The 120hz on my iPad Pro is so buttery smooth for scrolling, that I don’t want to go back to 60. A 120hz screen on the next iPhone will make me buy day one. A 60hz phone will make me pause for sure.

Some upgrade every year, so it’s not an issue for them. I’m ready to upgrade my XS Max, but I’ll wait until next year for 120hz, because I’m definitely not upgrading two years in a row.

If there isn’t at least 90. This a waste of making a pro model this year. What will the difference even be. Camera and 5g isn’t enough of a push.
I wish Apple would give the Pro iPhones the X/Z series processors from the iPads. That would help the Pro phones standout a lot more from the other models.

I really don't see Apply delaying the iPhones anymore just because of one feature 120. It's really not that important. It can really wait till next year.

I don't think these people know what they are talking about...

I was eligible for a free upgrade last year, but didn't do it due to lack of significant updates from my X. Everything was pointing to 2020 being the year with 120hz display, no notch, reverse charging and 5g. Now, it's the same thing happening again.. Only "update" being 5g. What a bummer. Might wait another year :(

120Hz won't be a great experience, even with a 1-2 month delay.

The battery capacity for iPhone 5G is nearly 10% smaller than the iPhone 11 series. Apple clearly didn't design for 120Hz, or they would have 120Hz drivers in the first place.

No LTPO and small battery? It's like trying to eat spaghetti with a spoon.

that is such and utter bs. i’d take a 120hz screen over 5g. 5g is in its infancy right now and doesn’t offer any tangible benefits for most americans. 120hz display literally changes how you interact with the phone. everything feels more snappy and fluid and it just feels better. they’ve had 2 years since it launched on ipad to get it to work on iphone, if the iphone 12 doesn’t have it there’s no way i’d upgrade. rocking my xsmax for another year i guess. i was on a yearly upgrade pattern from iphone 6-iphone x, but iphone 11 and it seems iphone 12 just aren’t compelling enough.

yep. Same in UK - rather have 120hz than 5G. Might give android a go at this rate (been thinking about it for a while).

I wonder who would update only for 120, lol.

Apple can do whatever. That feature is not a deal breaker anyway. Any update over 11 Pro will be minimal anyway so these are more for people who have older devices.
EXACTLY! I am currently on an iPhone XS Max. Almost 2 years old. I will update regardless so I while get the most from resale on my Max.
