For size comparison-both Spigen Liquid Air case. XS Max on top of 12 Pro Max.

Gimp the larger one!, every spec that the max has should be across the mini and the medium sized one, triple cameras and lidar as well. Absolutely no reason not to do it other than force people to pay more.
A much better reason is it wouldn't fit in the smaller case.

Is that true? Exceptionally good deal if so.
AT&T has (or had, maybe still live) where you can trade in an older device for a $800 discount on a new phone. My wife took advantage of that deal and sent back her iPhone 8 for a new 12 (non-Pro). The catch is we have to be on an unlimited plan (like the one we had already) and be on contract with AT&T for 30 months. Each month, we pay 1/30 of the iPhone 12 cost only to have AT&T credit that back. The net is a "free" iPhone 12. As we have been with AT&T since the original iPhone days and not planning to move away, this was a no brainer deal for her. (Not for me, though, as I'm in the IUP and prefer to change my phone every year.)

The way it should have been done which would have made it easier for Apple and easier for the buyer to pick. Just have every iPhone the same but make the only thing different between them is size and battery capacity, so iPhone Mini Pro, Medium 12 Pro and Max Pro at 128GB/256GB and 512GB, same cameras and lidar. Nice and simple.
Or better - iPhone Mini, iPhone (Regular), iPhone Max/Plus.

The pro wins in the bear photo though. More details in the background, and the light still looks like night, which it is. The Max is blurring the background, and not in some realistic photo way, and it's trying to replicate daylight.

2,5X Zoom is not aceptable anymore. Other phones got a perfect and giant MOON and iPhone gets a blurry white and horrible stain. Bad, very bad jump this year.
Other phone manufacturers use very expensive professional cameras and then claim the photos were made with their little phone camera.

There’s more controversy in this years iPhone lineup than there is in last weeks election results. :)

That’s true. Just back from an Apple Store where an armed group of former employees were calling the new phones a fraud. To them only yesterday’s orange gold is acceptable.

Clearly the iPad mini is redundant. But Is the iPhone 12 Pro Max SO big that it should have iPadOS on it?
Not so. I tried for 2 years using max-sized phones as an iPad mini replacement. It doesn’t work because the phone’s very narrow aspect ratio makes it unsuitable for use as a tablet.

Large Display

With its super-sized 6.7-inch display, the iPhone 12 Pro Max won't be for everyone, as The Verge's Nilay Patel explains:

The combination of the size and flat sides basically demands a case to make it easier to hold,

HUH? flat sides makes it EASY to hold. Whether you want a case or not is a different story, but flat sides certainly don't make a case more necessary...on the contrary, they make it LESS necessary.

I can’t wait 😁. I love big phones. This is nothing for me.

If you coming from the Plus/Max phones this should not be too much of a stretch. I think people are exaggerating about the phone size.

We now have 4 sizes now. Not one size fits all. Choose the best option for you and your needs. This argument is starting to get tiring.

Lol the jokes on you! Because you can turn 5G completely off and enjoy stronger and faster LTE because of the new Qualcomm modems! the 5G is just the cherry on top for future proofing
Has the LTE improvement been confirmed? I miss the Qualcomm radio on my 8+ unlocked. My 11 Pro Max as been consistently worse in reception in rural areas.

You’ll never know unless you know someone who has a 12 that lives in your area. So I guess you’ll need to buy one

6.7 give me a break. If Apple is hoping to upsell us on this for the camera shame on you.

Bring back the same camera across Pro lines.
I do agree with this. No one should have to by the bigger phone just to get the better camera.

I would bet that next year they might bring the same camera set up (or at least the improvements that the 12 Max got) to the Pro, using this year as a way to ramp up production. And who knows, they might bump some of the other sensors on the 13 Max in some other way. That said, I feel your pain as I'd rather just be able to choose between size and not camera features on the Pro line.
yes totally agree. thats what i was thinking.

look up youtuber maxtech. He just released a 11 pro max lte, 12 pro lte, and 12 pro 5g and its conclusive the 12 pro signal was way better.

Yikes, now I’m starting to wonder if I should’ve waited before ordering the Pro Max! I‘ve never been a big phone person (have the 11 pro now), but am big on camera features, so that justified the extra $100, and I just figure I’ll adjust to the larger size. I got the case today, and it didn’t seem unmanageable. Guess I’ll see!

I'm going with a super slim case and applecare+ so i don't have a slimmer phone compared to my xs max with a medium case.

You need to watch the Verge’s video. In it they zoom in on that photo and there is no contest, the Pro Max maintains detail while the Pro blurs the fur.

I agree with you.... MBKHD used to get into much more detail. But since he has gotten more popular and has more followers, it seems he has toned things down. He seems to me to be much more middle of the road than anything else.

I would even say that level of detail he used to provide is what built his current rather large following.....
Yep. I stopped watching him and went to Aaron at Zollotech. That guy gives great detail while still keeping it relatively brief. He’s the only one I saw that figured out what charging standard MagSafe is using and found other 3rd party chargers that work with it to provide full 15W charging.

Yeah youtubers like him give great detail which i think most want. there’s simply better out there when talking about the tech which i feel is what people want.
