Makes me sad the pro Max camera is so much better than the 12 Pro. Now the max is actually the pro pro with great battery life, great camera. But SOO BIGG.

Specs, yeah. In reality with respect to making excellent photos day in and day out, not so much. I'm very pleased with my 12 Pro. I've never purchased a camera on pure specs.

It's not too big, it's basically the same size as all large iPhones have been for years. It's essentially no different in size than 6+

It's significantly larger. To the point where it wouldn't fit in my shirt pocket like my 6+ easily did. That's why I bout the non-Max Pro.

I am still amazed at the pure power the cpu's have to process all of the data that iPhone 12's camera. There is still no Android device that has the ability to stay at 4K 60fps with all of the features turned on stabilizations and such. Samsung.. . you pay for the the ability but it shuts certain features off while recording..

You just never have to second guess when using iPhone 12 for recording.

"Unique to the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a larger ƒ/2.2 aperture for the telephoto lens, a 47 percent larger sensor for the wide-angle lens, and what Apple refers to as sensor-shift optical image stabilization."

It's smaller aperture compared to f/2 on the 12 Pro, not larger. Obviously this site is not dpreview

2,5X Zoom is not aceptable anymore. Other phones got a perfect and giant MOON and iPhone gets a blurry white and horrible stain. Bad, very bad jump this year.

One reviewer said he got 14 hrs battery life on the Max. I haven't watched all the other reviews. If that's true that would be AWESOME!

I got one! A GOLD! 256gb model! PRE ORDER!
$700 off for trading in my iPhone 8 Plus unlocked
Locked to ATT but still good deal. cant get $700 on craigslist selling my iPhone 8

Man - these reviewers are really going (faux) crazy over the size of this phone. It's only 2.4mm longer than the previous Plus phones.
For those of you who can do math, that's 1.2mm longer on each end.

These reviews are definitely blowing it out it proportion. I saw one unboxing video in which they reviewer held the 12PM again a 6 Plus, 7 Plus, 8 Plus, XS Max, 11 pro max and SURPRISE! They were all basically the same size (give or take 2mm)

The fake outrage is ridiculous.

I think you are underestimating the feel of a block shaped like a brick, and a block with a more rounded ergonomic shape. Add to that significant weight gain. It can change perception and feel quite a lot.

The brick design worked ok in a small phone like iPhone 4, but this is the first time any company is doing a brick design for a 6.7" phone.

...

Significant weight gain? Why do people keep saying this? The 12 Pro Max is 2g heavier that the 11 Pro Max. To put that into context a sheet of normal thickness laser printer paper, either A4 or US standard letter size, weights 4.5g so the extra weight is less than half the weight of a single sheet of paper!

I agree with this. I definitely underestimated the 12/12 Pro especially with a case on. It did feel like a brick so I can’t imagine what the max feels like

got the case for the mini today and it feels great to me. Can’t wait

I will skip this generation the 11 pro max is a solid phone. The issue is 5g resulted in compromise for battery life.
Lol the jokes on you! Because you can turn 5G completely off and enjoy stronger and faster LTE because of the new Qualcomm modems! the 5G is just the cherry on top for future proofing

Wait it wont fit in my shirt pocket? Oh **** I'm out, wait does my shirt have a pocket... damn I don't have a shirt pocket that's a problem.. LOL just busting your balls LOL I just had too.

I’m not sure if anyone has the answer yet but I have a iPhone 7Plus, will the new phone pro Max be quite bigger or about same size?
Edit: nvm after reading some of comments I see someone with a 6+ had this same concern and it appear phone is a big bigger, guess I’ll be stuck with it for next 4 years, maybe I’ll grow to it ^/_\^”

It's only a tiny bit bigger but you get a LOT more screen real estate.

Is too big if you are coming from a smaller phone.

I think if you come from iPhone 6, X... then buy the 12 Pro. You would feel the change in the size of the phone and screen without sacrificing the experience. I think is not a good year to move from one of these phones to the Max (unless you feel these phones small for you) because Pro Max is the biggest phone ever. First, get used to the size of the Pro and if you still feel that you need more then move to the Max in the following generations.

If you come from a "+" or "Max" phone and you are happy using that size then the 12 Pro Max is your phone.

... What? The 12 Pro Max is wider than the 6 Plus by 0.3 millimeters. And taller by 2.7 millimeters. I'm not sure how that constitutes 'significantly larger.' Depth is a 0.3 millimeter increase, too. Only significant difference is in the weight, ~33% heavier than your 6 Plus.
