I have yet to physically see/hold the iPhone 12 Pro Max, so take it with a grain of salt, but I’m so glad I went with the iPhone 12 Pro instead of the Max.

I honestly wonder why Apple decided to bump up the screen size of the phones.

Photos are interesting. The pro has better detail in the bear, but the pro max snap is balanced better. One second vs three seconds is an interesting trade-off.

Bear in mind that you can manually set the NightMode exposure length. It would have been nice to include a third photo of the Pro Max set at 3secs. The main benefit here is that if you have a subject that might sit still much more reliably for 1sec than 3secs, you can get an excellent low-light photo. Also, that you don't have to worry about movement as much because the auto-NightMode setting will be shorter by default.

Every time he says PEACE I want to punch him in the face
I watched his newest video. He is trying too hard.

At one point in the video he says:

“In the past, iPhones have typically been the same thing across the board but different sizes.....maybe an extra camera in the Pro”

“THIS year, there’s an entirely new camera system in just the pro Max”

Umm, buddy... better cameras in the larger model has been a thing for a while. You might want to be more conscious of what you say, because your viewers notice. You risk looking like you have no idea what your talking about...and your supposed to be the expert.

Can’t speak for his earlier videos, but it seems fame degrades quality

It's not too big, it's basically the same size as all large iPhones have been for years. It's essentially no different in size than 6+
Too big is a subjective term No? I think the issue is Apple should not withold on feature in the standard pro model, that’s wrong. I have a 12 pro but to be honest I’m sick of the Pro line, adds too much confusion and makes the standard line seem, unimpressive. I think there should be one iPhone 12 in mini and standard sizes and the pro should only be the largest phablet size, perhaps with pencil support too. In fact it should be a separate product line.

Guy gave his honest opinion, don’t see what the issue is. That’s why Apple send units to multiple reviewers

Thanks sir. This puts aside all the silly notions and comparisons that the 12 max is about the size of the iPad mini

Yep, exactly. The Z Fold2 is just about the screen area of the iPad Mini with its 7.6” 5:4 aspect ratio screen. Smartphones have gotten taller with their aspect ratios which means further away from being an iPad but with larger diagonal measurements tricking customers.

Let me start by saying I'm excited to get the Max Pro on Friday. It will take some getting used to again because I have a X right now but I have owned XS Max before. With all that said I agree Apple is TERRIBLE at making use of screen real estate. The way they space out icons is just terrible and I don't get how anyone at Apple thinks its good. Look just ad an option like android to go from say a 4x6 to a 4x7 is it really that hard? Really? Now with widgets it would be nice to have that extra row. My point is why the hell doesn't Apple see this? Even the iPad spacing is horrible. Oh well, it just seems like something so simple yet here we are 1/4" between icon rows.

Phone is too big. If they are going to gimp on features for the other Pro model then so be it, I cannot and will not be forced into using a phone that is so unwieldy
It’s weird you’re feeling forced to buy this. Just get a smaller one? Choose a different brand? How on earth are you forced in to it? The smaller models are far from gimped.
I used to mock overly big android phones and i will do the exact same with the iphone 12 pro max...

My Phone should fit my pocket and not require me to carry a purse or something...

Pro is the maximum I can go for and even that feels hard to use from time to time...
And so that’s great. Stick with what you want. I want a big phone.

The way it should have been done which would have made it easier for Apple and easier for the buyer to pick. Just have every iPhone the same but make the only thing different between them is size and battery capacity, so iPhone Mini Pro, Medium 12 Pro and Max Pro at 128GB/256GB and 512GB, same cameras and lidar. Nice and simple.
Ridiculous.
It’s like saying you’re disappointed that a mac pro is more powerful and has better specs than a MacBook Air.

I will skip this generation the 11 pro max is a solid phone. The issue is 5g resulted in compromise for battery life.

Really tempted by this, but trying to be patient. I rather have 120Hz and the x60 chip. My iPhone X is running okay. Battery is 85% optimal. Got stuck in a reset loop for 20 minutes last week, but iOS 14.2 seems to have fixed that. I hate being patient. :p

I don’t understand all these comments about the size of the 12 Pro Max. A good example is this one from the Verge review...

I strongly recommend finding a way to safely see the 12 Pro Max's size in person before making a call on ordering one.

Apart from wondering what might be an unsafe way to see the 12 Pro Max’s size in person (is that maybe saying don’t try to snatch one out of someone’s hand to have a look at the size?) surely for anyone who has, or has played around a bit with an 11 Pro Max it really isn’t going to be that different is it? I have an 11 Pro Max and the 12 Pro Max is going to be 0.3mm wider! OK, the length is 2.8mm longer but for me personally the width is way more important (within reason) since that affects how it feels to grip it. I just don’t get all this talk about size for a device that is virtually the same size as its predecessor.

You may want to redact this:

The f2.0 on the Pro is a larger aperture than the f2.2 on the Pro Max. The Pro has the advantage here.

Indeed. I was puzzled by the shift to a longer fstop. Even more tedious is the fact most of these “reviewers” have no clue what that actually means in photography.

The pro is simply (not by immense margins) a better camera for action shots.

some reviews said it made it feel smaller , some said big. if you have a 11 pro max already im sure you wont notice anything .

Actually. I am almost positive that most people coming from an 11 Pro Max will find the 12 Pro Max less comfortable / harder to hold due to the angular shape of the edges.

The curvature on the sides of the 11s are more ergonomic and thus it’s easier to “ignore” the size.

The verge is CNN of tech news. Far from reality.

Extra 3 ounces as well which is noticeable

I can’t wait to get my PB Pro Max this week! Coming from a X, this is going to be a good step up. As a long time android user, I do wish they’d take advantage of the screen and overall size by implementing the Apple Pencil, like the Note series. To me, that would make the phone perfect (on paper). It’s one thing I miss about my Note’s specifically.

12 Pro Max 160.8x78.1x7.4 228g
11 Pro Max 158x77.8x8.1 226g
XS Max 157.5x77.4x7.7 208g

People are acting like the 12 Pro Max is 2x the size of previous Max versions.
