Idk how anyone can think it’s hardware if it doesn’t happen at full brightness... def seems software.
Do you have pro max?

If yes could you please do the below test? (I don't have the device anymore).

Do you have the glow at the startup?

Set brightness at 100%, tt off, ab off.

Shut down the phone and boot it up.Do you still see the glow?

I did you test just as you described on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the Apple logo on reboot was bright, crisp, no glow. The blacks were true black. During the booting (which took about 30 sec) the blacks went grey for about 5 sec, then true black again.

I really thing this “raised blacks” is software.

i did this and had similar to cheule. It did a flicker glow right and then true black.
I tested with this video tho

And I get a gray flicker glow every few seconds but only on low brightness not on 100% which doesn’t make sense. Is the glow and flicker the same thing? What is the difference.

Thank you for the test.

My meaning of glow is that true black went grey for these few seconds.

Thank you.
I give up doing tests for Apple.I may order the 11 PM.

When I watch the YouTube video the screens seems to “flicker” or go from true black to gray. Is that considered glowing?

a bit confused on all this.

If it’s software then why doesn’t this happen on all devices? My current device has no flickering or green/grey hues on boot and my whites are white. However, my previous devices did have these issues hence the exchanges.

How many iphone 12s have you replaced to get the perfect one?

4 devices all <Week 47 devices. TT even looks good when active.

Left is a good screen other than an uneven off axis and a slight pink hue and the device on the right is my current keeper without any issues as mentioned in a different post.

But now it presents the green screen?

This boot sequence “test” is far from a controlled experiment. For one thing, my phone is not “factory default.” Secondly, other factors like time of day or location or shipping OS version could affect this test.

I still believe it’s software because 1) the display *can* produce pure blacks, it’s a problem you can make appear or disappear by changing the brightness. 2) in HDR mode, it never has the raised blacks, even at low brightness.

Have you always had ever bug Apple released a fix for? It doesn’t have to effect every single iPhone. More than most have the mistake.

Yes I tried with a hdr video! The problem is not there!

What do you have now?

I looked at someone’s regular 12 and didn’t notice it. But don’t the pros and non pros have different panels?
Now with a google pixel (my previous phone).

Still not decided if I will order again 12 PM or the 11 PM.

I think all of them have OLED panel.

Yea they have OLED but the non pros don’t do as bright a screen so figured maybe they different panels

i think there was a way to test which panel we have.
