Download the grey image, test it out in the darkest room at night and take a photo with another phone.
you can also try on the YouTube app in full screen when you open the settings selector.
Yup I tested a non pro... seems to effect the pros more. Maybe cause the pros have higher brightness than the non can doI have tested this extensively on my iPhone 12 non-pro USA variant, and I do not have this issue at all.
Yeah but this issue occurs at zero brightnessYup I tested a non pro... seems to effect the pros more. Maybe cause the pros have higher brightness than the non can do
They are probably calibrated differentlyYeah but this issue occurs at zero brightness
Damn, zollotech said it was fixed in 14.4 so I came straight to this thread to see lol.Not fixed with 14.4 Beta 1.
lucky youI have the issue on my 12 Pro and I don’t care. I’m not watching movies or looking at pictures with deep blacks with very low brightness settings.
InteredestingAnyone else noticed improper pure black levels similar to LCD screen?
You can check videos like this, better in a pitch black room:
The pixels on mine turn completely off above 25% brightness.Interedesting

Production week?Just got my pro (ordered 5 to check for best screen). Some had yellow screens, but all of them are pitch black like they’re supposed to be. Just like my x. Maybe it’s hardware related after all.
dnq ( beginning of all 5)
After reading every single post in this thread I came to the conclusion that the production week and the S/Ns do not give us a good indication of good and bad panels. It is just a lottery game and in the same time is widespread, so there is a high chance to receive again a bad panel. I don't have the technical background to say for sure that this is a sw or a hw issue BUT I trust my eyes (at the moment) and my experience from my past phones. This is not a way that an OLED panel should behave. Black is black ....period.
