Yes you have a cooler white.
But the 12 is also ok. They are different.

You have to make a picture from 90 degrees above and not from the side. Try again :)

I just received a iPhone 12 Pro Max to replace my iPhone 12 Pro Max from November. The new one does not seem to have any noticeable issues with raised blacks. There is no flickering anymore. I’m so glad.

Please try the steps above and tell us back. My new PM has raised black and I don’t know if I have to try again another one

I’m really sure every 12/12P/12PM have the issue. But it varies from device to device. It must be a software issue. I hope so!!!

No my friend’s 12 doesn’t have it I can guarantee you. My two 12PM had it. So I don’t know

Then show us please :)

Below you can read the chat with apple support in german.

Short in english: Known problem with iPhone 12 series (12/12P/12PM/12 Mini) and difficult to fix because each device is different and they only can send one update for everyone. So there is still hope ... :)

Well since it’s not my iPhone I can’t. Don’t believe me if you don’t want too. But I tested it with mine in all possible way. Brightness, dark mode on or off, dark room or not, it’s screen turns black instantly. Not mine which still shows slight raised glowing blacks. Also I would say it’s screen is more pink tint and bright than mine which is more warm like user reported here.

there are good ones and bad ones. I really hope a firmware update can fix it. Since the display is capable of switching off the blacks at some brightness level for each device. Let’s see what the real fix is.

Yes but I think in your picture the left one is still not 100% pure OLED black. On mine it is not visible like yours. Only minimalistic and I cannot catch it with a camera. Only my eyes see the grey/green glow ...
But yes the screen is capable of fully disabling the LEDs when brightness is over 90%.
On a picture mine looks like the left one but it has still a grey glow under 90% brightness...
And because in this picture you did not tested 100% black video because you still can see the the slider under the video. You should have tested with 100% black in full screen without other icons.
You know what I mean?

Is it possible to post the first 5 digits of the serial number, please? Also how did you receive the replacement ? Was it shipped to you or swapped out at store?

So if a camera cannot catch it and it is very difficult to see I have one of the good displays? But still not 100% fully LED-Disabled Black ...
Still can see a grey glow ...

Haha no. It is pure black. Probably what ever screen you are looking This image doesn’t display amoled pure black. I have been using amoled screens for 6 years so I can tell in person. Also it was a 30 second exposure do to show the issue more clearly to Apple reps. So it will catch the faintest glow.

If I make a photo of mine it looks like the left one but if I look with my eyes I can still see some minimal grey/green glow ...

The thing you see on the left screen was my finger moving across the screen.

I do not mean your finger ...
Please test again without the slider under the Video. Test it with 20% brightness and fully black video not with the „play-slider“

I did all the tests. From 0 to 100 brightness levels. Here is another. May I know what device you are looking at this images on?

Yes ok mine looks like the left one but I can still see some minimal light glow under 90% on mine. But on photo you can’t see it.

This is what my Pro Max looks like too...it’s the only time I noticed the “raised blacks.” Not even in dark mode or anything...only when I watch a black video in total darkness. Is this a better display than most?

apparently Apple can fix it via a firmware update(according to Genius Bar employee) . If you have an uneven tint then I am not sure about it. But if the whole screen glows green/grey evenly then the fix should work.

And uneven tin cant be fixed because this is an OLED hardware issue.
The raised black should be fixed because the smartphone is capable to show true blacks with 100% brightness ...
