I have had the 13 Pro Max for about 5 days now and while the battery is good it's not near what others are reporting. Even with light - moderate use I end up with around 30% by end of day. I have heard for the first few days it may be indexing or whatever background process goes on but it's been five days now so kinda curious.

I am not getting 6-7 hours of screen on time with 50% left like others have reported here. How long did it take for the battery life to start stabilizing for you guys and when did you notice you reached the maximum battery life?

disable background services of apps that don't need them, same for geolocalization and notifcations.
This is the biggest factor affecting it, a ****** app like Facebook or a Google service can drain your battery.

Another factor I think it's important to consider is wifi vs 4/5G, mobile data consumes a LOT more energy.

13 Mini usage by app. I’m not sure why things like torch, wallet etc are displaying when I haven’t used them either, background app refresh is off. I did open and close them after I noticed them on there in hopes that might remind them they’re not supposed to be doing anything. I’m wondering if they’re not completely erroneous results too?
It really is hard to know if even the reported times for each app is accurate, unless you logged the start and end times for the app.

I charged battery to 100% and switch to WiFi. I think that difference between cellular and WiFi has sense. Battery is drain slower on WiFi. I know that it isn't amazing information but I didn't see difference in last 7 days.

My low power hyper-mile extreme battery test has completed.

Mode: Low Power Mode; Only the 4 efficiency cores of the A15 are being used. A15 in this mode only uses about 3 watts of battery.
Initial Charge: 85%
Test stopped: 20% battery remaining.
Time to complete test: 44 hrs
Total battery usage: 11 hrs 13 mins, 65% battery used
Battery used per hours: 3.9%/hours
Estimated battery usage: 17 hrs 15 mins, 100% battery used

It is hard to know if the battery usage is being calculated accurately in iOS 15 right now. If they are, the battery usage I was getting in low power mode are beyond belief. I am planning on doing another one of these tests after iOS 15.1 is released as I think the battery usage calculations might be fixed in that release. The next time I do this test, I am going to do a proper 100% battery usage test, charge to 100% let the battery run down to 1%.

Hmm ok i will check that out. How long have you had your device for? Have you noticed any improvements in battery life after about a week in?

Instagram keeps running in the background, even though I have all notifications and background app refresh off. Why is that?

It’s chewing up battery when I don’t even have it running.

Optimized battery charging kicked in last night, with „Significant Locations“ disabled

6 days in.

Not sure, I haven't recharged it much.

With 5.0.2 looks better for SOT but may just be me using it under wifi

Battery drain overnight: 7% for almost 13 hours.

around 0.55 per hour, but I dream a day when overnight drain will be like 2-3% for 10 hours at worst.

The phone was fully charged to 100% but I had used it for 15-20 minutes before making it rest

Someone else pointed this out to me, if you run an app for a few seconds and then kill it off, the time reported will be 1 minute. If you start 10 apps that same way, it will be reported as 10 minutes. So iOS 15 is definitely over reporting app time used. It is always over reporting app time used to the next minute. I have verified that myself. We already know that iOS 15 is over reporting battery percentage. So I believe what we are seeing in the battery usage charts is over reporting app time used and battery percentage used. Which confirms my suspicion that the battery usage charts are not useful because they are over reported.

My question is, has there been any change in the iOS 15.1 beta that corrects the over reporting of battery usage?

In my usage, i didn’t use an app and kill it off. I keep using my app so my report could probably be accurate in that way😉

I don't follow what you mean by you don't use an app.

EDIT: I see what you mean. iOS is recording the app time to the next minute. You are still seeing the app time over reported to the next minute regardless of you not killing it off. My point about killing off the app was to show that iOS is indeed over reporting app usage time.

I opened case #101516762166 with a senior level advisor and left feedback on this with Apple Feedback. The more people that report this as an issue the better chance Apple *might* make a change to iOS to report more accurate battery usage. *HINT* *HINT*
