These are, of course, laboratory ratings, and don't match how we use our devices, but one YouTuber did an impressive test of iPhone battery life comparing iPhone 13, 12, 11, and SE models in continuous use. The iPhone 13 Pro got over eight hours in continuous usage, and the 13 Pro Max lasted for just under 10 hours.

I was looking at my battery usage chart on my 13 Pro Max and I noticed something. The app times and the bar graph didn't seem to jive. On the battery usage chart I have attached, when I selected the time interval it shows Screen-On time as 19 mins but if I add up the times of all the listed apps, it adds up to 20 mins. So now we have another data point. This gets cursory and cursory. Apple has closed my battery usage case that I opened this morning. Not to be deterred I sent an e-mail to Craig Federighi. So, I am curious if I will get back any response on my e-mail.

The Music app shows 1 minute background activity. I don’t think it’s calculated under SoT.

But it’s not replicative of real-world usage. If it takes into consideration of the phone in standby, it would have lasted longer on a single charge. But nonetheless, 10 hours of continuous SoT is pretty outstanding.

13 Pro Max, 63% 🔋 left, off the charger at 5:38am, 5h38m usage. 👑🔋😎

It’s not even funny anymore. Look at how the 13 PM is destroying the S21 Ultra beside it. All these battery life flexing is really tempting me to go for the 13 PM from my 11 PM.

The more apps you have on Android, the worse it is.

It can be night and day depending on how many, which apps and if you are logged in.

You mean they can somewhat drain battery even if they’re not running in the fore/background?

Android operating system as a whole isn’t efficient, it always has stuff running in the background, apple has optimized iOS to be a efficient beast.

That’s why you always see people with android phones disabling or tinkering with 200 settings so they can get better battery life.

I’m going to get a 13 Pro tomorrow when I head down to collect my S7. If the 13 Pro has a comparable battery life to my 11 PM when it first came out, I think I’ll get it. If it can’t then I’ll go with the 13 PM probably. My only gripe is the large camera bump. Apart from that it’s a perfect phone.

Honestly 13 Pro series are going to be one of the most under-appreciated upgrades we ever had when we look back at it few years later from now. I say this because there are people who says this is a “small” upgrade from the 12 Pro series. Seriously?

Nah there is 1 min by background activities from Music app.
So 19 SOT is still accurate

iPhone 13
iOS 15.0.2

Only wifi during the night

Usage:
  • safari
  • twitter
  • phone calls
  • mariokart
  • home
Stange thing: my iPad suffers from background usage of Home (background is disabled....) but my iPhone seems to be preserved from this battery drain....
