But as you noted the max mAh and thus health changes depending on the battery charge
That is true. You do have a very good point. What isn't known is the barrel percentage when the OP looked at the phone with Coconut Battery.

another good reason not to buy at day 1 XD
Not to buy? My launch day 13 Pro Max as performed better then I could have ever expected. My battery life has been insane. My screen is very uniform, there is no tinting issues, there was no defects such as marks, scratches, discolors on the phone anywhere. Even the earpiece has no excess gaps. The phone never even gets warm at anytime. I would certainly get another launch day iPhone in the future.

I just realized that the max capacity of 102% was when I had the phone charged to 85%. No complaints here.

Meaning that I could have gone Max too if I knew the difference was so stark, not that launch phones are worse

Update for the end of the day.

iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS 15.0.2
Pretty light day use. Thought I would post my battery use at the end of the day.
5 hrs, 8 mins, 29% battery used. Only used 3% battery in the last 4 hours of use. That is pretty amazing.
Estimate of battery usage for 100% battery, 17 hrs. 42 mins.

I am still extremely blown away on how little battery this phone uses. Only used 29% battery for the whole day.

The time you spent on messages...
Anyway the SOT can be clocked longer if you spend more time on less power consuming apps

I am not trying to be strategic about how best to use the battery. I just want to use the phone. So far, my 13 Pro Max has been nothing short of amazing.

Very good. Do you ever see Find My using battery in the background?

I have not seen Find By using any extra battery. I did have a rogue app the other day eating my battery. It used over 5 hrs of background activity. I ended up needing to delete the app.

I have been using a ad blocker, AdBlock Pro, which has prevented sites like MacRumores from using up my battery and my phone always seems to stay cool. The 13 series is by far my favorite series of iPhone. My wife has the 12 Pro Max and I think the 13 Pro Max is a large upgrade over the 12 Pro Max.

Thanks for the heads up on AdBlock Pro. I installed it and it saves a massive amount of battery usage when going to macrumors.com. My output on the site is now .28 watts when it used to be 5 plus watts.

Whats the normal battery drain in standby for the pro max? My 13 pro max is paired with my Apple Watch and have the same draining % in standby versus my old XS Max despite a larger battery. I went from 100% to 94% in 9 hours. When I actually use the phone, the battery is very good though.

I don't think there is a normal battery drain in standby. For me, after a charge I usually see 0% battery usage in standby overnight. Other times, I will see maybe 2% - 3% battery usage in standby. I have started the practice of putting my phone in low power mode in standby overnight. The iPhone only uses 3 watts of power in low power mode. There is not anything urgent that I need to know in standby, so I figure I might as well save the battery life as much as possible.

If you unpair your watch when you put your iPhone in standby, what kind of battery drain do you get? This will tell you how much is attributed to your Apple Watch in standby.

I have tried Adblock pro but I find AdGuard -adblock&privacy works better

With BT/tap to wake on 24/7, battery drains 2% throughout 8h standby
A bit disappointing since the standby drain on older iPhones were 1%? Thought the 5nm chipset should work better than iPhones made 10 years ago
Or maybe I shall try with BT/tap to wake off

How do you see the watts?

Third day of usage
Do you think it’s normal? I’ll post more here in the next days.
Don’t mind the first part of the graphic because I was using the hotspot with low signal.

When you say you were on hotspot, was that after the first of second time you charged? It looks like after the second charge, you had about 6 hrs 49 mins on 80% battery usage. At 100% battery usage, you would get abut 8 hrs 30 mins. This is good. Might want to start posting your battery usage charts with "SHOW ACTIVITY" selected, which shows how much time was spent in each activity.

I tried some “light” use in Wi-Fi, dark mode, it’s evening here so not super high brightness, but not minimum either. Safari, Instagram, Messages, Telegram, Tapatalk: 2% lasted me 16 minutes. Which would equal to 13,3 hours of screen time. So I think my 13 Pro is fine. It’s just that some apps are really, *really* power hungry (camera and photos for example) as is LTE.
