I really really wonder about it. 13 Pro is my first Pro over the years. I had 11 and battery life was okay. I want to be sure that my battery is at the max potential. So, I want to do what you did. Not going over 80 but like

this messages make me throw all the thoughts away 😂. How can a battery simply be this different ? :
Discharge rate and concomitant heat development or independent ambient exposure. He’s also a limey, so with the latter in mind..

If you turn off background refresh you won’t receive notifications until the app is opened.

That’s not true. You will always receive notifications, only if that app is wrongly written. I‘m using iPhone almost 11 years and I never turned on background refresh, still I got all of the notification.

cc
If I disable background refreshing for Facebook/Instagram/Gmail etc. will I receive future notifications? Will it normally?

sorry it was sorted it out - I don’t see a delete button here. 😅

Yeah I know we already figured that out.

iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS: 15.0.2
Remaining Battery: 32%

I was having a major battery draining problem but I fixed it.

If I use the phone for 3-8 min per hour (probably turn it on 15-20 x per hour) my battery is not doing great. Maybe 6-7h even with 95% in Wifi.

If I use it more often without turning it off every few seconds (at work I check a few messages then put it away, 5 min later again) i get 8-10h SOT.

Why? iPhone in standby shouldn't drain much. Does it drain so much because waking up from standby every few minutes for a few seconds?

I downgraded to 15.0.1, and also about to completely wipe out the phone and start over. HOPE this fixes anything.

15.0.2 did....something...to my battery.
Not only health (although phone shows "100%), but the icon, top right corner will remain "frozen" at the % it's at. It will only update if I shut down the phone, turn it back on.
Screen Shot 2021-10-14 at 11.02.19 PM.png

It was at 100%, restart then showed 95%. Restart after heavy use now shows 92%

Stuck at 92% - More heavy use, filmed almost 7 minutes of The Weather Channel as a test (still at 92%). Reboot then showed 88%

iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS 15.0.2
On the second day of battery charge. Still have 24% battery left until I charge battery again.
Both days were light usage.
Battery usage 6 hours 17 mins, 46% battery left
Estimate for 100% battery usage, 13 hours, 40 mins.
Interesting thing, I am seeing all these 1m backgrounds for the weather app. Does not seem to affect my battery life that much. Just going to turn off background app activity for the weather app.

So in your case, the stuck battery percentage happened after installing 15.0.2. That is really odd about what is causing this to happen because now it appears that it can just happen without doing a force restart.

Looks like the 13 Mini will be 5 hours ish SOT with 5G on. As you can tell, I actually work when I go to the office.

I just looked at my 13 Pro Max battery under Coconut Battery app and it still shows 102% battery health after installing iOS 15.0.2. Odd that yours has dripped so much. It even dropped after 15.0.1 for you.

not too shabby. trying to hit 24hrs with 32% battery left. so glad i went back to the PM this year. miss the longevity of the battery.

I thought it might be a good idea to post a battery life thread.

The idea is people post just before they put the phone on charge for the night. This will help track battery usage over time.

Please follow the following format
  • iOS version
  • Battery percentage remaining
  • iPhone 13 mini / iPhone 13 / iPhone 13 Pro
  • Screenshot of your daily use

iOS 15
iPhone 13
47% remaining

What about the charging speed?

wait correct me if i’m wrong but your battery health is declining already?
I ran this through an app called Coconut (also I have another one called "iMazing), this shows the true health of the battery. Launch day was an awesome 103-104%.

It took a slight hit after 15.0.1 (101%)
But another bigger hit after 15.0.2 update. So yeah, it shows "94-95%" now.
** YET...the phone itself shows 100% Battery Health under Battery settings

Also the battery % - top right corner - that has not been accurate also since this update. Will show 100% for 8-9 hours, but after rebooting it will then show 95-96%. Again...leave the phone idle for a few hours, % stuck at 95-96%, reboot will now show 92%.

I install updates though iTunes, no OTA to hopefully avoid issues. I don't know what this latest update did...or I (again) have a junk battery like I had w/ 12 Pro Max. (That health after 10 months dropped to a dismal 83%)

I just hope like I said the next update fixes this mess.

Edit - I downgraded to 15.0.1 yesterday, completely erased the phone and started over. The issue remains.

iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS 15.0.2
4 hrs 15 mins, 22% battery used
Estimate for 100% battery usage, 19 hrs 19 mins
Over night, in standby, 0% battery used

15.0.2 certainly has not hurt my battery life. If anything, the battery life has gotten a bit better. Very insane bonkers battery life.

This is normal, see that you never see drops of more than 5%? The system doesn't always show the real percentage, by design. It's not a bug

Anyway it's strange, the max has just 25% more battery capacity than the pro, and also a bigger screen, yet it seems to last more than 25% more

The OP was verifying this in Coconut Battery. So it is strange to see the max capacity drop that much after an update. In fact, there was 2 drops in max capacity which is even more strange. And not with such a new battery.

The "health" changes based on at what percentage you plug it in Coconut. If the battery is at 100% Coconut will show an higher maximum mAh and thus an higher health. If you plug it in at a lower percentage you'll see a lower health. But we don't know how dependable is this health value from Coconut. I use it only to know the "real" percentage, because as you discovered Apple designed the battery percentage indicator not to be always precise. It is not stuck, it's just how Apple wants it

But as you noted the max mAh and thus health changes depending on the battery charge, maybe he plugged it in at a lower percentage. I checked mine and it's 1% lower on 15.0.2 (101,5%), but I've just plug it in at 72%, whereas before it was at 100%. If I were to charge it to 100% I think it would show an higher health.
