I’m starting to think I got a dud now . When you can see the battery dropping every few minutes, you know it’s bad.

What do you mean?
Barely getting 3 hours SOT. Not doing anything intensive either. Already made an appointment when I get back from vacation.

How did you fix it?
From Coconut Battery I was able to see that I was expending lots of battery when the phone was idle. It was all over the place. I had over 150 apps and Apple Watch so it would be too time consuming to narrow it down. So I decided to start from scratch with only about 20-30 of my most used apps and removed Apple Watch.

That fixed my problem right there. Now I can add back Apple Watch and see if it causes any additional problems but I don’t expect it to as I paired it to a 2nd phone and it didn’t effect performance.

I also turned off background refresh for almost all my apps and added back auto brightness. All those combined and the phone is running like a beast

Some solid advice there.

@Lil_Mac It looks like on the first battery usage you were on cellular 5G. Cellular will drain the battery faster then WiFi. That could be why you has poor battery life.

On the second battery chart you got about 5 hrs 14 mins, 53% battery used. Estimate to 100% battery usage, 9 hrs 52 mins. This is right in line with the expected battery life for a 13 Pro.

I'm really happy with my iPhone 13, but my battery life isn't even close to what I see people reporting here. 3-4 hours of screen on time seems to be the maximum that I can get. For example, this is today:

1 hour and 24 minutes of screen on time. 64% battery left.
iPhone 13 on iOS 15.0.2.

Is there something wrong?

Sorry if this is basic, but what did you look at in CB to see the idle battery expenditure? Just logging history for the battery? I wasnt aware you could use CB in real-time. Thx.

You didn’t even reach 100% of battery so try to use at least 80% of battery with one charge and then see how many hours of screen on you get.

Seems the battery is draining pretty fast. Or is this normal? I’m on iOS 15.0.2

Used 80% now. 3 hours and 10 minutes of screen on time. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t seem great either.

What do you think?

iPhone 13 Pro Max

Computed battery usage after the phone was charged to 80%.

Light usage today. 2 hrs 18 mins, 18% battery used. Estimate for 100% battery usage, 12 hrs 46 mins. I can confidently confirm that iOS 15.0.2 has not reduced my insane bonkers battery life.

It looks like you got about 5 hrs 3 mins, 80% battery used. Estimate to 100% battery usage, 6 hrs 18 mins. Not great battery life, more on par with what the 13 Mini would get. Is this what you are seeing for battery life consistently? If it is then maybe you want to try a couple of different things that might help;
  • Reset All Settings. This won't erase any data on your phone. It will just reset all the settings back to factory. I would try the phone for a few days after doing this to see if it helps.
  • Connect your phone to a Mac computer, backup the phone to the computer, do a DFU, restore while in DFU and restore from backup stored on the computer.
