I think the battery life of the 13 pro max is amazing. I’m consistently getting 12-14 hours screen on time, spread over 2 whole days! I reckon if just one day, I could get 16 hours, in other words the whole day from waking up to going to bed of usage!! Might even try it one time, would be insane really
I use dark mode, and mainly web use, social media and bit of YouTube, no gaming. But still, getting a whole day of screen on would be unbelievable

Are there any particular settings you’re using because mine is not nearly as good as that?

Got up to 7hrs 24mins of screen time with 23% left. Pretty happy with the result. Gonna pair it with the watch now

Seems I'm getting the worse SOT ever.. My 12 Pro Max was ok, this is a disaster. I did use a restore from phone to phone so that should be good.

-I did remove most of my widgets.
-Disabled background activity of the Google app.
-Removed some other apps.
-Removed all AirTags (had two).
-It doesn't get hot.

Almost most of my apps are disabled for background activity same goes for location.

Yet fully charged it yesterday to 100% and now its 36% with hardly using it.

-Could be the watch, so I'll try that later as I just last week had S7 coupled (before the S6).
-Also using 365 from work, that will cost battery but still not this much.
-Also in my house I really have a bad reception, like to none downstairs but I'm on Wifi so it should ignore that or it did in the past, perhaps not in IOS15 (buggy?).
-And Home seems to be always using something, I do use several homekit accessories.

Upgraded yesterday to 15.1RC so need to give it some days, though today seems like the worst day ever :)

Could be the watch. Seems like it was the case for me. However, more testing is needed.

Dark mode on always
Mail accounts all set to manual not push
Location services only on apps that really need it!
Ditto for background app refresh
Brightness on 45%, manually adjusted when outdoors if needed. It’s plenty bright for me
Hey Siri turned off
Everything else standard really. I also have an Apple Watch connected

Pretty much the settings I use. No Apple Watch. I have Camera Live Text turned off and Auto Brightness enable. When I put my phone in standby for the night I enable Low Power Mode. I also automatically set Low Power Mode when charging is finished and my phone is in standby overnight.

To summarise my today’s observations on my 13 PRO

Light:
  • Paired apple watch - on and was quite a distance away from my iPhone
  • Was on twitter and tik tok for a bot before bed (100% - 80% i think)
  • Weird drain from just light web browsing and twitter after coming out of a standby period (70ish down to 32%)
  • WIFI
  • 1 bar of signal
  • 32% with 4 hours of screen time since last charge to a 100%
  • Phone was a bit warm
  • Most location services are on (significant location etc.).Apps: while using only or when requested
  • Background refresh off
  • Auto brightness and true tone on
  • Hey siri - on
  • Auto dark mode
Dark:
  • Unpaired apple watch series 4
  • Reset privacy setting
  • 1 bar of signal
  • WIFI
  • Spent all evening on youtube, safari, google app, messaging apps, twitter, spotify
  • Most location services are on. Apps: while using only or when requested
  • No background app refresh
  • Changed hotmail from push to fetch
  • Auto brightness and true tone on
  • No standby
  • Hey siri - on
  • 23% after 7hrs 24mins of screen time (could have gone for longer i reckon)
  • Auto dark mode
Nothing is conclusive yet. Will need some experts to chime in on this. But i’m going to pair my apple watch again tomorrow and try to use it all day long.

I was wondering. Instead of unpairing the watch. Can’t I just turn it off?
That’s a good question, I was just hoping it was just my watch with a rogue app or something but, I guess we can do tests and see how it goes.

But since I set up my iPhone from new not backup and done battery saving tips tracking etc and unpairing the Apple Watch my iPhone mini 13 has been unreal

Before reset and unpairing watch I would lose around 10% overnight, after I lost %0

13pm today and will charge it tonight for the 2nd time since having it. Sitting at 47%. On the most current firmware and testing with vpn on vs off running in background. Coming from an 8 it is crazy good and getting used to the size.

Not sure what to expect though for screen on time if I ran it down from 100-0 which I will probably never do but interested.

Not a good idea to run the battery all the way down to shutdown. It will stress the battery too much.

Unpaired my watch and paired it again, makes a lot of difference. Only one hour on 4/5G with Apple Music. Also my Homekit stuff seems to draw a bit. Not sure if this is good or bad for my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I see people discharging with 0.02W where mine is not going lower then 0.04W but usually higher.
For the new run paired my AirTags again, they seem to draw quite some power..

What’s happening with photos and messages that they’re using offscreen for 60 mins? Is it because I installed iOS 15.1 yesterday?

@LFC2020 You seeing drains like this over night?

13 Pro Max here, and the battery has left me disappointed. I would consider myself a somewhat light user, and this battery life is no better than what I experienced on my 11 Pro Max.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated, starting to thing that I got a lemon. Not even 3 hours of screen on time.....

4 hours use with 25% battery doesn't look bad

I was on safari yesterday and my battery % was going down and another poster asked if I had adblock and I did not. I installed it and my battery is WAY better now.

You got about 4 hrs, 27% battery used. Estimate for 100% battery usage, over 14 hrs. And it looks like you only lost about 3% battery life in standby. That is really great battery life.

By the way, if you are not aware of this but the Screen On and Screen Off times shown in the battery usage chart, is based on a moving 3 hour window. When I calculate my battery usage I add up all the individual bars, Screen On and Screen Off times. The moving 3 hour windows include when the phone is being charged. So that will not give you an accurate battery usage after the phone is taken off the charger.

I'm getting awful battery life on my iPhone 13 Pro. What's even more frustrating is I originally got the 13, which had amazing battery life, but really wanted the ProMotion and thought the Pro would have even better battery so I returned it and bought the Pro. Battery at 36% when I took the screenshots:

xx

For reference, my partner's 13 drained by 22 percent since being off the charger since the morning, with similar SOT. This is exactly how my iPhone 13 was as well - screenshots from when I had it at 38%:

xx

I'm struggling with whether to return it and go back to the 13, or try the Max (it's bigger and heavier than the Pro and I'm not sure if I'll like it).
Update - took the Pro to the Apple store yesterday and the genius agreed that something wasn’t right. I returned it and got a regular 13 (didn’t want to deal with the size of the max and they didn’t have any in stock anyway)

It’s early, but I’m very happy with the battery life even though it’s only Day 2. The phone also runs cool and doesn’t get warm (I have had an adblocker for Safari so nothing is different settings wise). Also, I have an Apple Watch Series 6 cellular which has always been paired to all of my phones so this is all a like-for-like comparison.

Going to miss promotion but it is what it is…don’t have the time or patience to go through a 13 Pro buy and return lottery just for this feature.

80% battery left:
