As usual for me, nothing but a nightmare. Two days of trying to set up the pre-authorization, with it giving me errors te entire time that it can’t connect to my carrier (t-mobile). Chat support assured me not to worry, that it will work fine today. Nope, 48 minutes now of nothing but the same error messages that it can’t connect to my carrier.
That’s a major bummer, sorry to hear that. I would have been irritated too. I must have threaded the needle around the system issues plaguing ordering this morning.

My T-Mobile pre-pre-order on Wednesday had no issues (but I heard others were having an error for unsupported account types). This morning, I pulled up the pre-order in the Apple Store app, clicked pay with Apple Pay (don’t have an Apple Card), it went through, got my email at 7:03am CDT, and it shows in the app pending order history.

That was easy and painless. I was done by 5:02AM PDT with the store open on my iPad by 5:01AM. I got myself a 256GB Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro Max and a base model pink iPhone 13 mini for my daughter. Thanks, Apple. Their process is finally getting to the point where it's rather easy.

couln’t disagree more. Two days of error messages trying to pre-authorize, assured it would be fine today, and now an hour of more error messages.

Had this issue with Verizon and realized it was because the phone number (my daughter's) wasn't setup as an account manager on our Verizon account. Went into our Verizon account and added her number as an account manager, and it worked just fine.

Feeling better now that I got a confirmation email for my order. What a fiasco. Big black eye for Apple Card. Single handily set the Pre-order process back years with their incompetence.

My order said it was in the later delivery group but my email is showing it as the first one. Guess we will see which is right.

Experienced a couple glitches and several delays on the Apple Store while purchasing my 13 Pro Max 1TB.

Took a hot minute but my order is in with an in-store pickup on 9/24 between 8a-8:15a. 😁 WOOT! This is the first time that I was able to select that option on the IUP. So excited, but also sad that I won't be able to track my shipment with the rest of you 🥺. But I'll be cheering for everyone!

I don't even know if I ordered it or not. Because at first tried my pre-pre-order and at the end it asked me to enter my Apple card details, didn't work, then tried that one more time, still didn't work, so I switched to AMEX then it just completely failed and told me to try again. Going back to the beginning it would not let me try using that pre-pre-order so I started again. Clicking iPhone Upgrade Program would say your Pre-order has expired, start again. Go back and continue in that loop, never letting me order anything. After almost one hour trying I gave up, very annoyed at their incompetence. Then look at my email and there's an email from them confirming my order. But checking my account it shows no recent orders. So who the hell knows what will happen. I may or may not get an iPhone next Friday.
Apple makes such a big deal with these pre-orders and after so many years still can't get their systems to work properly. I'm seeing a ton of people also complaining they couldn't get their Apple Card to work. Is that Apple's way of not giving people 3% cash back? What a joke.

Still haven't told my wife she's getting the 13 Pro Max (256GB, blue). She's still using an 8 Plus. I'd get one for me, too, but my 11Pro Max is still good for another year or two.

I'm guessing she'll like it...

Couldn't get my Apple Card to work (neither did the wife's). Had to use Amex
Same here - couldn't get the Apple card to work. I have to wonder if you have set up a pre-order in the Apple Store APP (on iPad in my case), this issue happens. I just talked with Goldman Sachs (Apple Card support, since they are the bank that issues the card) and they say they are working with Apple to resolve the issue, so it is not just me.

The good: I got my order in for an iPhone 13 Pro 1TB in Graphite.

The bad: Everything else. I got the confirmation from Apple days ago that:

You’re all set for pre-order on 9.17

Starting at 5:00 a.m. PDT on 9.17, sign in to apple.com to complete your pre-order

Nope. When I followed the instructions there was no phone associated with my account…

So I just started from scratch using two different devices; app on my iPhone 12 and Microsoft Edge browser on my iPad. I experienced failure after failure trying to add the phone to my bag. Finally, it worked on both devices, but…

As noted by others, I had multiple failures trying to use Apple Pay, both through the Apple Store app and via the website. As Apple Pay failed, 9/24 delivery options disappeared. As Apple Pay continued to fail, nearby pick-up options started to disappear. Eventually Apple Pay worked on my iPad via Edge.

I’ll get the phone on 9/24, but it’s going to be a hike to pick it up.

Not what I would call a smooth process. Get into the app, to complete my pre-order and it says I don't have any orders after I just ordered my pre-order. I figure that something went wrong and I go to pre-order another phone. Now it starts showing me that I have pre-ordered 2 iPhone 13 Pro Max in silver. Now I need to cancel one of the orders. My first time doing a on-line pre-order for an iPhone.
