If you are a person who may forget to check your phone and top off, make a shortcut that will alert you (via alarm or audile voice) that you need to charge your phone. That is what I did, not that I have to reply on such but, it is a good failsafe (so to speak). It's not false expectations, it's different priorities.
First, it's not that I'm incapable of charging my phone during the day, it's just that it's yet another thing to remember or risk being without music or other entertainment on the train home from work. My phone gets me through most days and usually I'll remember to top up, but I want my phone to have enough reserves for the days when I forget, or when I travel or when I'm otherwise active. I really do t want a phone that has its battery capacity modelled around my desk job.
Second, phones such as the Pixel 5 have shown that you can have amazing battery life in a reasonably compact and not too heavy form factor. I honestly don't care about a couple of millimetres more thickness for a few more hours of battery.
ROFLMAO … my boy and my son both had this joke with me either he es act same line 10yrs apart! Neither of them knew what either sad and completely different personalities experiences and walks of life lol just made me howl in laughter!I like em' thic 🙃
Main reason I skipped the 12. Didn’t like the idea of skimping on the battery to offset the cost of the modem which is also power hungry.
Bring it on! Skipped the 12 since the batt capacity stayed the same and you just knew the 5G modem was going to be more power hungry than the refined old 4G one. Guessing the updated modem in the 12s / 13 will be a little more efficient, but still a power hog and more capacity is a good thing. IMHO of course.

I am fine with a slightly thicker phone as well but, we have to focus on and deal with the tech we have.Sure, but that's in the end a mitigation, not a solution. I want a phone that gets me through a day of normal to slightly heavier usage without without having to think about it. If that means my phone is slightly thicker or the processor is not the absolute fastest I'm okay with that.
You're saying that people who happen to need a phone right now, because, say, their phone broke into a hundred pieces, should be forced to buy two year old technology, because that's just where Apple happens to be in their three year release cycle (or they could try to get by with no phone for another year until the new ones come out).I haven’t upgraded for years and don’t plan to until my phone breaks. I’m saying from a marketing standpoint making mirror updates every year just to sale more phones isn’t green.

Our conversation is still centered around expectations. If people buy iPhones and find that the phone battery doesn't measure up to their expectation, said people need to make sure their expectations are in line with the stated testing and expectancy of the battery, or adjust their expectations and personal phone habits to be more aligned with the phone, or try Android.
Your post is corroborating my initial point.
You are right. This forum is about praise and criticism, and I have no problem with valid criticism. But where's the fun in that? In all seriousness, whether or not a phone performs as well as can be expected and being realistic about what to expect when buying a phone is one thing. That doesn't mean we can't criticise what is the result of conscious design choices by Apple. Isn't this the whole point of a discussion forum?
I doubt it’s coming. It seems like a fairly straightforward addition to the power button, but I think iPhones will all be FaceID, probably even the SE3, or perhaps the SE3 gets TouchID in the power button like the iPad Air and FaceID stays on the more premium iPhones.still no solid news about Touch ID
I’m holding on to my 2018 iPad Pro until the next one comes out, which should have an updated design, though I am a big fan of the current design. While IP12 is an absolute fantastic phone, which looks and performs amazing. It still looks like Apple is playing the good old tik-tok strategi with brand new design one year( which always sells like crazy) and then the real star of the show the next year as we have seen with the S-models 4s, 5s, and 6s.
Also kind of the same in iPad Pros, with the M1 being so amazing that everyone is upgrading to it for good reason. But I bet Apple have something absolutely awesome in store for new year that Will make everyone realise that the 2022 iPad Pro was always meant as the star of the show.
100% agree. I feel like there are a whole lot of people who complain about battery life and I always think “why can’t these people just plug in at some point during the day…” I am seriously thinking about the 13 Mini and have no issues about battery as my phone is plugged in multiple times per day. I’ve done that for years and never had excess battery wear by doing that, and never run out of battery during the day.I get that some people struggle to be near an outlet at some point during the work day. I think those people are the exception. There are far more people that seem to have an aversion to plugging their phone into a power source during the day (for some reason). If more people would practice some common sense, I think there would be far less complaints about battery life. False expectations produce poor results.
Unless the new mini only comes in purple with white polka dots, I will be upgrading as well.100% agree. The thing is you could be doing that for several years with no Touch ID planned. Lol.Battery on my 8 is starting to go, so this sounds awesome, but if there’s no touchID there’s a good chance I’ll just replace the battery on the 8 and hold onto it for another year![]()
Yes. Why not? That’s better than not being able to replace your phone at all when we’ve run out of nature resources to make them. You're saying that people who happen to need a phone right now, because, say, their phone broke into a hundred pieces, should be forced to buy two year old technology, because that's just where Apple happens to be in their three year release cycle (or they could try to get by with no phone for another year until the new ones come out).
”Whatcha talkin ‘bout Willis?“Please stop. Every single iPhone from 6s onwards has gotten thicker, heavier, and bulkier. So much so that the iPhone 12 already feels like an uncomfortable brick to hold
The last headphone jack. The upgrade probably feels like iPhone 3G > iPhone 6.I've been rocking my 6S for 5 1/2 years; 6 years by the time the upgrade comes. My upgrade is going to be epic!
Apple refused to do my phone as they said it was bent. It’s not, I think they just did not want to do it for me.I got the battery replaced just before battery gate, and Apple telling me my battery is fine. I’m on my 4th non-Apple battery.
