No, they meant sensor itself can be damaged any time if it’s subjected to enough vibration. I don’t see why it would matter if you were actively using the camera. The hardware is still being jostled either way.
Because the OIS is in motion. When not in use it's locked in place. If you think what I said was incorrect then explain why Apple showed people on a scooter today with the iPhone mounted on it?

You should look at the support document again. They do no state anywhere that the phone has to be actively using the OIS system. It simply stays that the document is applying to the OIS and closed loop autofocus components only and not to any iPhone that does not have these. I do not believe older iPhones or the cheaper versions even have this issue since they do not have OIS. Now that they’re aware of the specific issue, the iPhone 13 models may have sturdier hardware than the 12 pro to help mitigate the issue. I’m sure car mounts aren’t a great concern but motorcycles probably wreak havoc on anything in an intricate device like that.

I guess I will go to ifixit.com and order a battery and swap it out on my iPhone X. I know it is a lot of steps, but if it fails I will just buy a Nokia 5120 like it is 1999 again. I mean I was underwhelmed, with the phone. Especially the Pro, sure I would love the 1 TB, since I am a storage hog, but I was hoping for something extra. I don't know what. Better battery and stuff is just incremental. But the iPad Mini does look pretty neat.

I took the time to look at these prices and realized that it’s better to just pay off my 12 Pro Max and buy a new MacBook Pro next. These iPhones really cost as much as a laptop

Do you honestly think Apple was marketing to iPhone 12 owners? I never understand this mentality. Every year the same thing is said. People with the previous model think Apple's new product is being sold to them. No. New models are marketed to owners much older iPhones or first time iPhone buyers.
Yes I honestly think so or Apple and Verizon would not be offering an upgrade path for for iPhone 12 owners. Not one announcement says "Upgrade offer does not apply to iPhone 12 owners".

So you gave me this response instead of answering my question when I asked you to explain why Apple showed an iPhone 13 on a scooter today after they told people to be cautious using the iPhone on high vibration motor vehicles?

I keep on refreshing the Apple Store App to start my order using the iPhone Upgrade Program. Keeps on saying come back later today. Anyone know what time it will be available?

Edit: This is the prep work like validating eligibility, pulling credit, etc.

I never said you weren't allowed to upgrade. Of course previous model owners have an upgrade option. I stated that Apple is perhaps NOT marketing to owners of iPhone 12 users but rather users of older iPhones that were thinking of upgrading. You did state that you saw no reason to upgrade from your 12 right? Thank you.

Apple also showed someone wearing a watch in the ocean but won’t accept warranty claims for defects leading to water damage.

Customers like me who upgrade every year using the iPhone Upgrade Program Apple would never turn away.

Just finished the prep work! Come back on 9/17 @ 5am PDT to pre-order.

midnight green and pacific blue were really good colors.... wtf is this blue.

Yeah agreed. I liked the green. I think I'll be holding out for one more year. Maybe they'll bring it back for the 14?

iPhone 11 Pro Max was a decent chunk of change two years ago, pre-Covid and pre-chip-shortage shenanigans. 1599 doesn't seem so terrible by comparison when one considers the doubling of storage and all the other odds and ends improvements over the last couple years. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Why the hell would anyone need 1 TB of storage on a phone???
This phone is going to shoot ProRes at 4K30p. Assuming we're talking about ProRes 422, that will eat up >250GB/hour. Other ProRes codecs vary in bitrate, but it will eat storage no matter what.

It has barely been a year since the Pro Max was delivered. I love my Pacific Blue Pro Max so I will be hanging onto it another year. I really hope they change the blue in the iPhone 14. The new blue is very underwhelming.

Can't Canadians do trade in with Apple? I'm getting $790 trade in for my 12 Pro Max 128gb.
Trouble with Apple trade-in price you really loose out. In the UK Apple would give me £500 for my Pro Max 128GB yet I sold it myself for £750 over the week-end, that is a significant difference.
