It's such a shame that these phones have this uniformity issue due to bad panels from Samsung. I hate having to go through the OLED lottery process because it's such a waste of time and energy, and I prefer getting a good phone on day 1. The phone is great otherwise.
I got no more time for the lottery shenanigans. My patience is worth more than a damn phone. In any case, I upgrade every 12 months so not too bad. But, there’s no way I’ll accept a dinged up iPhone. My iPhone 12 Pm frame was damaged out of the box as was the 13 PM how lucky was I ?

You got the 13 PM replaced right?

I'm willing to go through the lottery since this is my last iPhone (did annual the past 4 years) for several years and I would like it to be as good as I can get it. I don't want to have an orange left side of my screen for that long

There's 3 major suppliers of panels for the iPhone 13. Samsung, LG and BOE I believe.

I received my first iPhone 13 PM on release day , it was damaged so I returned it to Apple. The second one I bought from a large retail chain store in America last week. Which is the one I’m currently using.

I feel your pain. The ones in the store look average also.

Does anyone know if you take your phone into an Apple store, will they swap it for a new phone or will they try to replace the display on your current phone?

Currently it will likely be an entire device swap. Once they get screen replacement stock in then they will just replace the screen only.

Try this test card with a relatively low brightness. Doesn’t need to be in a pitch dark room either. But of course a dark room will show defects more.

I’m inclined to believe that finding a screen that’s uniform will be too much time and effort to be worth it. Others have posted in this thread that they have no orange tint/uniformity issues (side note - there is no standard test for this and it’s very subjective), so I’ve been chasing that unicorn and have gone through 5 iPhones, all with varying degrees of this issue. Either I’m incredibly unlucky, or most 13 Pro Max devices have this to some extent. One or two would be a coincidence, but 5 in a row is a larger issue.

My current 6th iPhone has a tint on the left side that is visible at night and worse with heat, but the screen looks amazing otherwise and I love everything else about the phone. I think it's time for me to exit the OLED lottery for my sanity for now :)

Are you walking into the Apple store to do the exchanges ?

One launch day, 3x ERS, two new apple devices from the Apple store. I kept one those two new devices.

ERS devices within the first 2-3 weeks theoretically should be new devices, since they wouldn't have stock of re-manufactured devices. Obviously I can't say for certain.

What’s ers ? Express replacement service ? That’s for people with AppleCare plus I think. So they mailed it to you. Cheers.

Wonder what stock Apple stores have for replacements currently, is there a way to find out ?
no way to tell publicly but normally you could set up genius bar appointment and if they do replace your device due to a defect they can look in their replacement device inventory. if they dont they usually order one and when it arrives they give you a phone call. Now if you have applecare plus, you can just request ERS and they usually place a hold on your card and send you a replacememt.

Go to a darker room, turn on dark mode. Go to the clock app and add or edit an alarm, similar to the photo attached. Try different brightnesses. If your phone is bad, you’ll notice it.
