G9L must be A-grade, G9N B-grade and G9P C-grade then? I have not seen a G9L display yet and it’s been an almost even split between G9N and G9P for the phones I tested, so they must be very rare. You have a unicorn in your hands :)

I am not sure whether it's worth going through multiple more devices to find an excellent screen. Most look like crap. What are your thoughts?
At this point. It's just a waste of time and energy just to go through multiple phones just to find a good one and knowing that of all the ones you had had uniformity issue. This shows that even if you did get another one, you could luck out or it could be similar to the ones you had or even worse.

Just also keep in mind that if you continually do returns at that same Apple store, You will eventually could get flagged for many returns and may be greeted with the store manager.

I see. I think I've done two returns at the same store so far, but I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I'm also locked out of purchasing a new one online because of some quantity limit issue, even though I only have one 13 PM in my hands. My other orders were either cancelled or returned.

It's too bad that the screens are like this. I've never seen such obvious defects in iPhone displays before.

Yea I got locked out of it too for online orders but they eventually reset. I believe with online orders, they are limiting units.

These devices are worth a lot, and apple has a two week no questions asked return policy. I would say it's worth trying until you find a good one. I probably will try until the two week period for my phone is up and then just put up with the tint, since it's not horrendous.
I get it they are not cheap...but either is my time being wasted so I guess you have to weigh what means more to you. I think I am done until next year. One of the two I picked up last night I am just going to keep.

Pretty simple solution on Apples part to just implement restocking fees. I guarantee people would think twice before returning products simply because of the flexibility they give of the 14 days. Could you imagine....

I believe Apple did in the past have the restock fees implemented but they removed it as far as I know. But they should bring that back. Haha.

Edit: https://9to5mac.com/2011/01/09/no-more-restocking-fees-at-apple-stores-starting-january-11/

Apparently Prior to 1/11/2011, Apple did have restock fee's. But after that date, Apple stopped.

$100+ dollars a pop (assuming unlocked) to simply return your phone would deter a lot of people I am sure. Especially if your just buying them in mass and comparing them to keep the best of the bunch. Those ones being returned would otherwise be acceptable to anyone not members of MacRumors : )

The top right is green, the whole bottom is orange, and the bottom right edge of the display is darker than the rest. It looks horrendous and I find it interesting that this passed Apple’s tolerances (if they do test for this). I returned that phone as soon as I saw it :)

See the photo attached for what my current phone looks like. It’s mostly white, with some red tint on the left. It’s the best that I’ve gotten so far, but I still see the tint in day to day use.

yep. At this point I’m not even setting up my Apple ID or inserting SIMs into these devices before they look good screen wise.
I feel like a version of that is what I've seen on every one I've looked at. Is there something in the manufacturing that would do that?

There is a degree of non-uniformity that is inherent in most OLED displays, but that is typically only visible when running gray slides at low brightness in a dark room & not day to day use. This orange tint is visible at most brightnesses and I think it's an even worse issue.

How about this one?

A bit red in the center and towards the left. How does the clock app look in dark mode when you edit an alarm?
Here it is. I had multiple devices so far and this is the least red screen I’ve seen so far. I do notice a little more green towards the top right corner though.

I also have a 13 Pro, which is significantly more red/pink.

Not sure if there is much hope this year with these screens or QC across the board. Seems like there are just so many "possible" issues with these devices. The odds are really against anyone taking a chance getting replacements.

Absolute nonsense. Respectfully.

You're 16" M1 Pro MacBook Pro on the way? ?
I was playing around with one yesterday in the Apple store and wow is all I can say. Almost ordered one getting caught up in the hype of the release. Awesome machine though for those who got it. I have no practical use for that kind of high end machine. The 14 is a great size IMO.
