This screen actually looks pretty good with only some color shift from top to bottom, nothing egregious like earlier posts. Are you seeing anything in person?

I've noticed a trend where 13 Pro displays seem to be less affected than Pro Max too.
In person it looks very even with no noticeable colour cast, based on what I’ve seen here I got lucky on my first attempt for both screen and build quality.

This is the first iPhone I haven’t had to exchange at least once and I have owned every generation including the original.

My silver 13 Pro Max is pretty much a great phone, uniform screen, no noticeable tinting. No issues with defects anywhere on the phone.

You have been even luckier than I have then as it would seem chances of an even screen on the Max are way lower than the standard model.

Seems like the tint on my phone at low brightness may have gotten worse with time, but it's uniform, which seems weird. Maybe the True Tone have been incorrectly calibrated at low brightnesses and some of this is fixable by software update

Screen looks normal with my usual slight left side tint with true tone off

Did you wind up trying your luck again or just sticking with what you got? In my opinion, this or any of the other QC issues will not be resolved (if at all) anytime soon as they try to pump as many units out of the factory to try to keep up with demand and also through the holidays. QC might actually get worse. I’m almost chalking this up to it is what it is at this point. If it’s not one issue you get now it’s another one (or two).

We could see mini-LED next year on the 14 Pro/Pro Max and OLED on the 14 regular/Mini. Apple will be transitioning away from OLED.

I did, and it's gotten to a point where the time, energy, and cost (gas is $4.50+ here) is starting to become not worth it for me anymore. I also don't want to get in trouble for returning multiple phones in a short timespan; my CC company might also start wondering why there are so many $1,748 charges on my card :)

I would love to get a uniform screen like some people have posted on here, but I think I've gone through 5 new retail units and they all are just varying degrees of bad. It seems like the odds of getting a decent Pro Max screen are incredibly low.

Screen issues aside, are you noticing other manufacturing defects with the units you’ve been through? That is also becoming consistent on the ones I have been through.

Picked up a 13 Pro last week through AT&T / Best Buy.

Kind of conflicted. The screen has a warmer, reddish tint then the ones they had on display. My max autobrightness seemed to be lower, too.

However, I haven't noticed any color uniformity issues at any brightness. Greys and whites seem consistent across the screen.

Tweaking the tint in accessibility options and turning off autobrightness in accessibility seem to resolve any nitpicks.

Guess this one is a keeper.

One of the ERS units came out of the box with a pretty noticeable dent at the top left on the stainless steel band. There were also micro scratches along the bottom band. I thought Apple replaces the outside components that users touch? There's no way that someone doesn't notice that type of thing, since the dent caught light
pretty significantly.

As far as the other units, I only saw the back when opening the phone and front when I turned on the display to compare. I didn't look too closely at earpiece gaps at the top, scratches in the frame or cameras, flush SIM tray, etc. but nothing really stood out to me in all the phones I have tried.

Warmer tint is likely just how these phones are. To compare apples to apples make sure night shift and true tone are off on both phones.

Brightness is not a good comparison because Apple has intentionally turned off auto brightness in accessibility for the display phones, probably to make them pop more. The max brightness of display phones is 1000 nits at all situations, while your phone with auto brightness limits max based on ambient light. If you ever see a display phone again, turn off auto brightness in your accessibility settings and lock/unlock to reset, then change your brightness to 100%.

We could see micro-LED on the Apple Watch first and then on the iPhone. Mini- LED is an LCD backlight technology and they definitely won’t be using that on the iPhone.

My 13 pro had the issue of red/orange tint on the right side. Apple store did not replace the device instead the display which I wasn’t pleased with. Now the new display seems uniform, however has a slight gap between the display and enclosure. FML. Past the 14 day return window.

Why would Apple use mini-LED on MacBook Pro and the iPad Pro. Are you suggesting energy efficiency of mini-LED is not great?

If it were me I would take it back and have get you another display or refund.

Tried that but was told the gap is likely due to a “human error” of not applying the glue correctly and thus the only alternative that was given to me was they will try to re-apply the glue. I’m beyond pissed.

Have you tried to call Apple Care and complain how your situation was handled not to your satisfaction?

Thanks for the info. It‘s good to know that Apple store does have in fact have the screen parts to replace rather than the whole device.

As for the gap, live and learn I guess. I’ve noticed that if there is no gap in the speaker area, then there is a gap at the bottom, if there is a gap in the speaker area then there is no gap at the bottom.

Mini LED is for larger screens as you can’t fit enough (currently available sized) LED’s in a small screen to give accurate localised dimming and the issue of blooming is present to some extent, there is also the issue of display thickness. Mini LED is a stop-gap technology for larger LCD screens to produce better contrast ratios.

You will never see another LCD based screen on a new upper tier iPhone, it would be a step backwards.

In my opinion Apple will continue with OLED on the Apple Watch and iPhone line until Micro OLED is perfected and volume production is reached which may be years away.

It will be interesting to see if we get an OLED iPad Pro in the future.

I considered display replacement for my original launch day phone too, but I decided against in case the screen protector breaks and has to come off, possibly introducing new micro scratches onto the glass (assuming they change the actual panel and keep the front glass). Also what if the new display is even worse?

with regards to the display gap, my phone does not have a gap, but the entire display panel is not flush with the stainless steel band. It protrudes maybe the thickness of one hair out of the steel band, so it could be that during manufacturing, different displays are tried until one fits properly. Some displays could be too small relative to the rest of the phone.

My 13 Pro Max has one tiny gap in the upper left hand corner. It isn't anything you can see (even with a magnifying glass) and I only know it is there because I carefully positioned the corner of a piece of paper and part of the corner slide in. I would say that my phone is probably an excellent example of someone having a really good day on the day that they assembled my phone. They even gave me an excellent display. ?

Have you posted any images of your “excellent display” as I’ve yet to see an even 13 Pro Max screen.
