I really want to get my silver iPhone pro max exchanged for for the gold one but I’m so scared now to get a worse tinted display then the one I have now, do you think it’s worth it?
Are you buying them unlocked? If so, just get a Gold one and see how you make out. Worst case, you just return it...no big deal.

Just do it. Either ways you’ll be unhappy with the silver model even though the display is good for you. Worry about getting a bad display after you’ve exchanged it.

Got my replacement 13 Mini (white box) and this one is much better than my original, I think it’s a keeper. There’s still a very slight red tint on the right side in certain conditions, but it’s not distracting in normal situations like my previous one and I think it would be lots of luck to do better than this considering how prevalent the issue was on the phones I tried in store. I can tweak night shift a bit to get it where I want it.

It may be a software issue because when I look at a white page at 5% brightness it looks all uniform but then when I switch to the settings app I can see the pink tint on the top appear within 3-4 seconds and then when I flip back to the white page the pink tint disappears
That might be something completely different to what most people are reporting in this thread.

I don’t know about that I have read ppl on here seeing the same thing so who knows, either eay it’s such a bummer

I’m
Well it doesn’t matter if they said they don’t notice it, in my opinion. It’s only an issue if the users see it. If they don’t see it then it’s a non-issue. I have come to terms about the tinting characteristic of recent iPhones. Perhaps it’s not an issue by definition, because we can only notice it under certain lighting, certain mode with certain brightness level. But it’s a characteristic that some people, like us, do not like.
at what brightness setting do you see yours tinting at? Mine is 7% and below.

I’ve never seen a screen uniformity issue as bad as this on my older iPhones (6, 6S, 8+), maybe I’m lucky or maybe newer iPhones just have worse quality.

Granted, those older displays aren’t perfect either, but they’re good enough to a point where I can’t see anything that looks off from day to day use. It’s so ridiculous how obvious the lack of colour uniformity is on my 13 Pro Max, I almost feel insulted in a way as a customer. $1,500+ USD for a phone for this kind of crap?

13 Pro launch day delivery vs 13 pro max mid October delivery. What do you guys think?

does this happen even with the grey background we use for testing? i think it's an hardware problem. You see that tint after some seconds because your eyes getting used to the color change.

It happens to me as well. If you switch from white to grey at a first glance it looks uniform, then after few seconds you can catch all the possible defects.

If you want, open this image and take your time to evaluate your display.

Actually it’s not my eyes getting used to it, I’m switching from a white photo to a the settings app, when I have the complete white photo open it’s very uniform, then when I switch to the settings app I can see the pink tint reappear within seconds, then when I switch back to the white screen I can see that pink tint slowly disappear, it’s very obvious, if I were switching from grey to white or black to white then yes I can see that being my eyed playing tricks on me but when your switching from white to white then it’s a different story.

Is that the 5% grey one? It’s not as obvious with that image in typical room lighting and the issues are only apparent if you’re in a pitch black room. For me I use this 50% grey pic and hold the phone in landscape, the non-uniformity is basically immediately noticeable.

Edit: oops I replied to the wrong message, meant to reply to this one

I’m using just a pure white screen and I can notice the issue white my brightness is at 5% in a lit room not just in a dark room

Feels like a waste of time and energy on both sides. Aside from being a huge inconvenience for the buyer, now Apple will have a bunch of relatively new phones they’d have to refurbish and later sell at a lower price or give as a model swap lol

All this could have been avoided with more stringent quality assurance.
It’s a numbers game for them in relation to profit and loss. I’m sure all the cutting corners pays off and is in fact more profitable for them than the costs associated with more stringent QC and downtime in the factory to recalibrate and clean machinery which ultimately slows down output. They’re all the same, even car manufacturers are doing this.

Yes I do not notice anything unusual to my eyes on the display of my 11 PM. I believe some processes involving the manufacturing, calibration and mounting of the OLED have changed since 2020 when the 12 series were released.

Maybe around 15% or lower. I’ve returned the 13 PM a couple of weeks ago. I could tell from the scroll bar that there’s a pinkish tinge to it. My 11 PM doesn’t exhibit this.

This is so disappointing coming from a company like Apple I feel like just retiring my phone and just use my old 7 plus I just don’t have the energy to play this lotto screen game.

I share the same sentiment as you. 7 Plus is a decent phone. Maybe you can change the battery and wait for the 14 and let’s hope that there’s no tinting on it.
