It’s a common issue. But not everyone will notice it.

Ahhh I see, is that what it is? OLED banding? It’s strange that it only happens across the exact line of the notch! Thanks for letting me know.

Your iPhone 13 pro too? Yes i think not everyone can notice It haha

Yeah it seems to be the only issue my 13 pro has had at all. Tbh when I checked the ones in the Apple store they all had it. I guess if it’s the only issue I’ve had at all that I can notice I’ve been quite lucky?

By chance, the brightness thing happens to you too, switching from white screen to the app to set alarm or dark mode settings?

here are some pictures of my 13PM dispaly (randomly taken on iPad Pro (2020) on diffrent days, 0-20% brightness)

Just tried this on my 13 Pro Max in a completely dark room at 5% brightness. Only see a slight gradient change on the screen. Was it suppose be more dramatic because the display on my 13 Pro Max still looks very uniform.

EDIT: Forgot to turn True Tone off. Re-ran test again. The same result. Nothing really stands out.

at this point I wonder if we are too picky because apparently 90 percent of the 13 pros have screen problems or other people don't notice it ... maybe this year it's better not to buy ... as it was for series 12.

Y’all this thread has me messed up 😅 I’ve had my 13 pro max for a week as of today. I noticed a red tint on the right side of my screen while reading on my phone one night after having the phone for a couple of days, and started looking into it and found this forum. I went through every page here, and took a couple days to consider whether or not the screen bugged me enough to take it in. After comparing my phone to my sister’s, who has the exact same phone as me, I decided I needed to do something about it.

So I went into Verizon today and had such a bad time 🥲 the guy treated me like I didn’t know what True Tone was, went into my settings and turned it off, telling me the phone is meant to look like this and compared my phone to his own and claimed my screen looked better than his.

I took these comparison photos, my phone is marked with the red star, with identical setting on each one, brightness all the way down, True Tone and Night Shift off. I just explained again from the beginning and another employee came over and they just checked my warranty and put in an order for a replacement. Turns out they put in the order for the wrong phone line though 🥲 he put in an order to replace my sister’s phone.

So I guess I’ll be addressing that issue tomorrow. Sorry, I just needed a place to vent to others who can understand the annoyance of these red screens 😭

You probably already know this if you've seen my posts, but I'll give it to you straight just in case: prepare for multiple replacements before you get a satisfactory screen. It seems unlikely to get a perfectly uniform one.

Since you are within the two week return period, I would just return the phone to Verizon full price and purchase from the Apple Store, ibstead, assuming you didn't take advantage of a trade in promo through VZW. You will have much more flexibility with returns directly through Apple.

Also I noticed that 15.2 beta 3 has interestingly broken auto brightness on the 13 series only, and someone else noticed True Tone looks better.
Some in this thread (I think) have noticed that the display briefly flickers at low brightnesses in a dark room, so I wonder if Apple is aware and trying to fix these tint and brightness issues in a software update? Just a shot in the dark as I wonder why Apple would be changing display code :)

Anyone interested in taking one for the team and losing AB for one week? 😂

TrueTone doesn’t look better. It merely doesn’t start with a deep dark yellow shade when waking up the display anymore like before from standby.

It looks red but yours looks more uniform.

If only, in person the red dominates the right side of my screen. It’s especially apparent on the keyboard 😥 it’s like a red-green-red rainbow. My sister’s phone still has a bit of a red tint on the left side but not nearly as bad as mine.

Honestly don’t even bother trying to explain to those idiots, just return the device and buy a new one if you can. First time when I noticed this display defect I actually went to the Genius Bar and got basically the same experience u did, the staff were apathetic and ignorant. they wasted like half an hour of my time trying to see it in the unrealistic apple store lighting and trying to get other employees to see it. Eventually I got annoyed and just told them to give me a refund.

Based on experience now it’s seems like a good idea to always run through your device with a set of screen uniformity test images right away when you get it so you can return for refund ASAP if it’s unsatisfactory. It’s an expensive top tier phone, so it should meet our high quality expectations since it’s not cheap.

Also yeah another lesson learned: if the Genius/idiot staff wants to take your device to the back to see if they can better see the issue, don’t agree that unless they let you accompany them. Otherwise they just gonna go behind the door and check social media for like 5 mins then come out and lie to you their colleagues couldn’t see the issue as well. Its a manipulation tactic to gaslight the customer if you ask me.

It’s not possible to fix it thru over the air software update. The weird color gradients vary from device to device. Maybe it could be fixed with careful display calibration in-person?

I updated to 15.2 beta 3, True Tone looks the same, if not worse than before. I can still clearly see the lack of color uniformity. And yes, auto brightness is completely broken on this 13 pro max now.
