Anyone else get a new unit from the Apple Store recently? Seems like stock is improving; there were four 1 TB SB models available at local Apple Stores all day today.

I noticed that the tint on mine got a bit worse (but still marginal) and tried another 1 TB graphite Pro Max. It seems uniform on dark mode, but light mode is another story - both the left and right edges look orange, and the lower center area is darker. I immediately noticed it upon device setup. This is still present with True Tone and Night Shift off.

You seriously think it’ll improve during the next production runs ? 😂 what you’re seeing is called placebo.

Indeed, going through all of the local iPhone stock. There has to be a unicorn in here somewhere. 😂🤣 hopefully you’ll find one before the iPhone 14 is released, then start over.
Yep when the unicorn comes out, 14 is out and time to go out and do it again. o_O

Anyone know if the "normal" 13's without 120hz are any better? I want to try the phone but this thread is scaring me away. Lol

Maybe I should just try the lcd iphone 11.

How does the display look when you turn off True Tone? The photos you showed you have True Tone turned on.

You have very slight tinting on your display. You might not be able to find another phone with less tinting. Usually taking a picture of the display makes the tinting look worse then it actually is.

Yeah, all the Pictures in this thread make it look like it's visible in normal brightness and not dark areas with the screen brightness set to low - I'm not sure if this is normal for oled or if just a bad year.

It’s definitely not normal for OLED, especially not on a phone this expensive. My theory is Apple lowered quality control standards on purpose due to supply constraints and hope most people have poor eyesight and wouldn’t notice the issues. My old iPhones with older LCD displays were much more uniform than the crap on my 13 Pro Max.

I returned the phones in those pictures already. The tint was still visible with True Tone off for that phone and clear to me during the white background setup screens.

Perhaps I should avoid this year then - but LCD are generally more even than oled besides on white colors. Oleds have banding on grey and darker areas but I don’t know how extreme it is this year

Well, it’s like lottery. You might be lucky and get a perfect screen, but might be unlucky and get a manufacturing defect in some other part of the phone. I guess it depends if you have the time and energy to play the iPhone quality control lottery this year. I’m on my 2nd 13 Pro Max now and it has the same lack of screen uniformity as the 1st, I’ll be returning this one too and hope I get lucky on the third time.

I’m sure it won’t be perfect… that doesn’t happen I just want it to look normal if I up the brightness/only appear if I go looking for it

Sigh. Every year guys… I’m about to go back to my iPhone XS Max due to this whole situation. I love the smoothness though :(. Here is mine 0% brightness/Dark mode abd Truetone.

I love the device but not sure if I’m going to deal with that when my XS Max doesn’t suffer from such atrocious-ness.

We are a vocal minority at best. Most people would not even notice the issues we see and point out. It is a shame that every iPhone since the iPhone X have had these display issues in one form or another. This is not unique to Apple. I guess we need to wait for micro LED for better display tech.

It would seem you may well be the only person with a perfect display! Looking forward to seeing your pics…….surprised it’s taking you so long when your such a prolific poster.

The off-axis viewing on my display is not great. I get a sort of rainbow effect. Far from a perfect display. There is a sort of red shift to the display depending on how direct I look at the display. Move my head slightly and I can see this red shift momentarily on the low portion of text. Very strange effect. All in all, I am happy with the display. Does a perfect OLED display even exist?
