LTPO is the hardware feature to enable this so definitely will not be on the 12 Pro models.
It shouldn’t require LTPO as android phones have had always on displays for years without LTPO. Maybe Apple are worried about battery life and that’s why they have waited. Any of the OLED iPhones are capable of having an always on display.

And still has a better operating system and user experience than the completion. 😊😎

Android has been behind since the first iPhone was released and they’re still nowhere near to being as good as iOS.

No point rushing something when it’s not ready, apple releases features when they’re ready to be released properly. 😁

user experience is lackluster, and outright aggravating in many circumstances. things that have been available for people to do either via jailbreak or other brands took many many years to show up on iOS, or still have not made their way around.

and before we point to this "not ready" concept, i'm mentioning features that through a jailbreak worked seamlessly and properly on iOS.

maybe we can say "still has a more *consistent* experience". better is taking it far.

I agree. iOS is better for junior or grandparents since it's very basic. Being able to place specific icons anywhere on the home screen, split screen multitasking, DeX, pen input, etc. would be too confusing.

I haven’t experienced those issues and also dont see any base to treat it like a widespread problem. And well, the fact of getting rid of them in the next generations do not prove anything. They also got rid of other MacBook features in the past not necessarily meaning they were a fail. Unlikely the butterfly keyboard 😀

it doesn't necessarily mean they were success either.

"Unless it works flawlessly, it won’t see the light of day with apple."
this was the original statement that i was countering.

But there always have been software bugs in every OS. No reason enough for me to call it flaw. Is different than butterfly keyboard or iphone 4 antenna, for example. Those are flawed designs.

it will be a pro only feature lol
According to this MacRumors piece of news, LTPO screens and always-on displays will be a feature of the entire iPhone “13” (12S) lineup. Quote:
According to his sources, Apple is planning to include an always-on display in the iPhone 13 series, with the technology being similar to the always-on display in the Apple Watch Series 5 and later.
Then, the report follows specifying that 120Hz Pro-motion displays will be a Pro feature only. It makes sense that always-on is consistent across all the iPhone 12S lineup.

I see 2021 and 2022 as being years for experimental features that probably won't be mature and solid until around 2023. So, I will stick to my 2023 plan, its so hard to wait because the iPhone 12 is indeed a beautiful device.

Or for people that just want the things work fine without complications. I will never understand why android users are so obsessed to convince iOS users that are wrong. Let people to choose whatever they prefer. There is not good or bad, is a matter of preferences.

You remind me of religious people who don't allow you to criticize their God...
bad comparison, false equivalence. they can criticize as much as they want, but they'd be so much happier to go find another god, that's all.

That’s actually curious as everyone feels the opposite, including me. I obviously prefer a notch less iPhone, but i got used to it and do not notice at all. Good money saving then, but you will need to a long term plan, as ím afraid we are not going to have a notch less iPhone until some more years.
You may be right, but I thought there was a rumor recently about a model to soon be released with Touch ID and possibly no notch. But if I need to wait I can probably get a few more years from the 8+. I like it and don’t need 5G.

The model 2021 model will supposed to have a reduced notch and Touch ID, but no notch less. Apple will not get rid of Face ID for sure.

So, you're agreeing with me. I use both ecosystems and without reservation recommend iOS/iPadOS to grandparents unless maybe if they consume a lot of YouTube. Wished Apple would keep the home button, though, as it's too much finger gymnastics for seniors with less hand mobility.

Ihb

Yes, very boring.
But... what’s your damn problem with a lot people still preferring iPhones even with all your facts?
And... why are you, Android lovers, always trying to convince others to choose your preferences? Let people chose whatever they want. That’s why you are really soooo boring.
What's with the iPhone fans always offending Android? A lot of people? In many European countries you'd barely see any iPhones. Why offend Android in the first place? You are really boring, because you're illiterate. Don't even know why I brought it up

I’m not a grandparent, so no, I’m not agreeing with you. Neither the millions of people who buy iPhones every year. No worries, I’m not expecting you to understand my point.

Astrophotography?, really? Hmmm... let's see how that plays out. I'll be impressed with the first image of deep space objects, for example the nebulosity around the Pleiades{M45}; not a real
challenge for current astrophotography rigs. However, considering attributes such sensor sensitivty, F-ratios, exposure times, etc. this'll be an interesting result.

think article was just worded wrong as ltpo will only be available on the pro models which is needed for apple to add 120hz

I'm not a fanboy. I use both. I have an iPhone and an Android phone and an iPad and a Windows PC and a MacBook.
Some things on my Windows PC are way better than on my MacBook etc and vice versa.

Tim Apple: "What do people really want?"
Researcher: "A way to shorten battery life even further..."

And before you start, I know... OLED... low power... Yada yada. It is just a joke.

I am more concerned about the idea of carrying a strong magnet in my pocket all of the time.
I am not sure I am looking forward to that (and nor are the magnetic strips on my credit cards).
You carry everything in one single pocket?

Thats good. Im also a windows user. However, i will never say my pc is better than my MacBook because has more features. Are different devices oriented for different kind of people or different tasks, just it.

No, you should say that. I wish there was a possibility to disable microphone and webcam on Macs as well. I wish iPhones would have a feature to password protect your photos & other files.
I also have to agree with others. My Android has always-on-display and it kind of blows. Yes, it's all black and yes the icons are black and white, but ... You can still see it when you open your eyes in the middle of the night.
