What are ya'll storing on your phones? Seriously? I wonder sometimes.

I have a 256GB iPhone 11 Pro Max and only 65GB is in use. I'm a heavy user of Photos and Music; iOS does a good job of keeping the data I need on my phone so it doesn't have to go out to iCloud very often.

It's funny, for me it felt like we went from always not having enough space to having more space we know what to do with and then some, and then some more.

I'm just wondering what the use cases are for people who want 512GB and 1TB iPhones. Are ya'll storing copies of every movie you like or something?
For me 256GB capacity with 45.01 GB available, with music (currently 7464 songs) & pictures (14,304 pictures) all backed up locally each on it's own RAID 1 drive

I'm a simple man, only a dark green color would get me to buy iPhone 13. Are you guys still happy with iPhone 11 Pro, or are you going to upgrade? I may get one before Apple ever releases sleek green color again.

I sure hope that is the case!

So, you might not want to pay for a music streaming service, but think of the time you are spending now. Time=money. I used to be in the exact same situation...always moving music around, never sure what I might want to hear at any given moment..it was frustrating. Then I started using Spotify and I never looked back. Best thing I could have done! Much happier (and saner) now. :)
If only Apple Music had those music I listen to. Or Spotify, or something else, heck, even Amazon prime. But no. About 10% is available from streaming service.

Yes, my taste is niche, but whatever.

Ah...that is a problem then. I didn’t realize that was the situation. 😕

If true, I’ll be sad to see the pacific blue go, and for it to be replaced by yet another boring color is disappointing. I enjoyed having pacific blue this year.

I stick with the Pro model, don’t use a case, and I’m sick of the fun colors being delegated to the non-Pro iPhones. :(

that's the point, Apple does this to force more people to buy the pro phones where they make more money.
Isn't that the case with literally any feature? In this instance, it's arguable that a 12 mini is, in one way, more capable than the 13 mini.

I'd rather pay $10/month for cloud storage instead of $100/year (or upgrade cycle) for 128gb of onboard storage. Phone goes in the river. Pictures gone.
I buy 256gb and spend around 3 dollars a month for cloud storage, so I got all my data offline and online.
Don’t know why I’d want to have one of those options reduced.

I wish Pacific Blue was a permanent option for iPhones. The best colour Apple has ever had.
Agreed.

súper pissed the 256GB option will not be offered with 13 mini !! Seems Apple is really trying to push mini users to the Pro. If that’s the case just kill all iPhones and keep the Pro models only.

then it just increased value of my 12 mini.
Not sure what I’ll do or if I’ll even upgrade this year.

Safari got the option to roll back.
SharePlay is not ready.
Private Relay is not ready.
Universal Control is not ready.

Also, Apple needs to get away from the pastel colors of the 11 and 12, and more close to something like the XR.
I swear it’s like every year ever since the product red 7+, the red just gets less and less… red.
Same with most of the other colors honestly.
I miss the old iPod colors, they were super bright, super shiny, premium but fun, and also there was a lot of them.
Remembering the 4th gen iPod nano that came in nine different colors.
You see what’s happening here?

tim started with colores and iPod he’s gonna send off retiring as fellow with all products of the 🌈

This is true - my wife has friends who have all their photos on their phones and don’t use iCloud as they “don’t understand how it works” and “don’t want to pay monthly fees”

For one it’s their only computer per se - I’ve warned them what happens if the phone breaks or is lost - they shrug it off.

They’ll learn the hard way, I guess.

Wow, so people needing larger storage are pushed to spend more money. Typical Apple.
"Ha! People think they can just turn off icloud photos? Let them get the Pro for more storage then. "

The Pro really needs to start at 512 storage option.

Edit: I don't understand all the disagreements. I'm just wishing here, its like saying "I hope to win $10 million dollars" and someone disagreeing and saying thats too much for me. You don't have to spend it.
No. It’s not like that at all. If the Pro starts at 512 then people who don’t need that much storage will be forced to spend more money for no reason.

ProRes Videos, HDR10 videos - edited movie pieces for certain. Plethora of high end apps to do such editing, 3D camera footage within those is just my guess.

lots of music for offline viewing, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu and other downloaded content AppleTV+ as well … storage to run several apps at once suspended in background (forcing boost in RAM on devices) possibly.

I don’t use all mentioned but it’s my guess.

They keep sabotaging the mini. The 12 mini was overpriced, and now the 13 mini is intentionally hobbled (if true).

Then they wonder why its sales are low, but proclaim nobody wants smaller phones.

Really hope they do offer the Mini with 256GB - it’s my favorite form factor, and between my lossless music collection and photos/videos of my newborn storage fills up fast.

I was planning on upgrading my 12 Mini to a 13 Mini just to have a small phone that can last me a couple of years longer, but I guess I’ll be sticking to my 12 after all.

This right here. Except for the price part. The mini was the lowest price iPhone 12.

It really is starting to look like intentional sabotage. They don't want the mini to succeed, and just like the omission of the telephoto lens and stainless steel last year, they're going to make an even more gimped "mini" option this year before putting it fully out to pasture next year. They just want everyone to begrudgingly lug around a 2.5 lb brick the size of a school bus in their pockets.

It's absolutely infuriating.

guys I’m right there with you all!

if I could fully vent how I’m feeling with this news/rumours I’d be banned for certain.

this is insulting! Also … keep in mind the former rumor last week that ALL 12 series will be marked legacy meaning production will or has been stopped!

I’m due to switch carriers end of this month so I may pickup another 12 mini 256GB in Blue on contract for cheaper pricing, IF this rumor holds true on storage sabotage.

whomever is in charge at Apple making this decision I want to out on my 11” Catapillar steel toe boots and wind up a field goal kick to their nads !

but oh well get new colours while keeping blue?!

this is forcing me to go 13 Pro as a thought.

I’m praying there is a limited production release initially and thus storage option is shown here.

that said THIS will mark the very FIRST TIME Apple has released a brand new iPhone model, with lower storage options that the previous year!

mom hoping this is BS and a feeler! Peeps make yourselves heard!
