The thin design has been one of the key design aspects of the iPhone. Making it thicker and thicker will not win sales. The competition already looks better in this department and making an even thicker iPhone and camera bump isn't going to change that.
What makes it worst in the iPhone is the bump then the protruding lenses on top or that, at least just make the hump flush with the cameras?

It will still be thinner than the 11 Pro series so it's really not a big deal.

I have the 13 pro max and my next will be the SE. Coming from an 8 plus, I never thought I'd miss the fingerprint/home button. As long as I can tether to my iPad when needed, I think I will be good if it's just a phone.

They keep changing the size of the camera cut out so old cases can't be bought because what is better for the environment than new cases having to be made every single year for the iphone...

I find the mini charges so fast, that it doesn't really matter as long as you have access to a charger at some point during the day. Even for heavy users. You can juice that bad boy up quick!

The 13 Mini battery life is pretty solid anyway. It's consistently beaten even the regular 12 in battery tests (not by much, but still...).

Newly surfaced detailed schematics for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have been shared online by Max Weinbach, revealing that Apple's upcoming high-end iPhones could feature a more prominent camera bump and a thicker overall design.

Last week, more basic schematics for the iPhone 14 Pro were shared, but the ones shared by Weinbach are more detailed and offer measurements for the upcoming iPhones. According to the schematics, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will measure 77.58 mm in width, slightly smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max at 78.1 mm. Also, according to the schematics, the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max will be nearly identical to the iPhone 13 Pro Max in height, measuring at 160.7 mm compared to 160.8 mm.

In thickness, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will measure 7.85 mm, slightly thicker than the current high-end iPhone, which measures just 7.65 mm. With the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple considerably increased the size of the camera plateau on the back compared to the iPhone 12 Pro. In 2022, Apple is looking to repeat a similar trend.

The current camera bump on the iPhone 13 Pro Max is just 3.60 mm tall, according to guidelines created by Apple for accessory makers to follow. According to the iPhone 14 Pro Max schematics shared by Weinbach, the camera bump on the 2022 high-end iPhone will be 4.17 mm thick. The camera plateau itself on the back of the ‌iPhone‌ will also increase in size by about 5% in each dimension, going from the current width of 35.01 mm to 36.73 mm and height of 36.24 mm to 38.21 mm.

Weinbach today also shared schematics for the smaller iPhone 14 Pro. According to those schematics, the iPhone 14 Pro is nearly identical to the iPhone 13 Pro in width at just 71.45 mm vs. 71.5 mm. The iPhone 14 Pro in height will also be essentially unchanged compared to the iPhone 13 Pro, measuring 147.46 mm vs. 147.5 mm. Like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Pro will also feature a more prominent camera bump measuring 4.17 mm compared to the current 3.60 mm.

Initial renders alleged to be the iPhone 14 Pro Max, shared days ahead of the iPhone 13's launch by leaker Jon Prosser, revealed a design with no camera bump, but instead showed the lenses, LED flash, and LiDAR Scanner flush with the rear glass. Prosser's renders also showed circular volume buttons, reminiscent of the iPhone 4.

Neither of those two design elements will seemingly come true, according to the schematics shared by Weinbach and last week by 91Mobiles. As is always the case, however, Apple's plans can always change, and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.

Rumors regarding the iPhone 14 lineup are still in their early stages; however, rumors confidently suggest that Apple will remove the notch on the high-end 2022 iPhones in favor of a pill-shaped and circular cutout.

Earlier rumors thought that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro would feature a single pill-shaped intrusion at the top of the display. Rumors, however, have since become more coherent in revealing Apple is planning both a pill-shaped and circular cutout to be featured at the top of the display. According to rumors, the two cutouts will not be centered with the display but instead off-axis, as seen below.

As the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max gain a pill-shaped and circular cutout, the two lower-end iPhone 14 models are rumored to still feature the same notch as the iPhone 13. Current information suggests that Apple is looking to further differentiate its "Pro" iPhones from its lower-end models.

Alongside giving the high-end variants a new front display design, they could also be the only ones to get improved performance. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will gain the A16 Bionic chip, while the two remaining iPhone 14 models will retain the A15 chip from the iPhone 13.

We're also expecting a wide array of camera improvements across the entire iPhone 14 lineup, along with the possibility of a new titanium case option, a possible vapor chamber thermal system on the high-end models, and more. So take my iPhone 11 Pro, remove the notch, add USB-C and 5G - perfect. You don‘t have to call it pro. Just call it iP14 and I‘ll get one. The iP14 Pro starts feeling odd before it is even released.

It could be worse. Apple could've given the new iPhone a non-removable power cable like the Studio Display. *associate whispers in ear* Wait, no one has confirmed that isn't happening?

If this true, is just too high. If there was no camera bump, the phone would be too thick, but I would prefer a smaller camera bump, a max of say 2mm.

I'm not sure if this was already said in 8 pages but I logged in to say:

Aesthetically and laying-on-the-table-flat-ly I would love a flush back, however, in real life when I'm using my phone i heavily rely on that bump to know where the lens is and make sure I'm not covering it. If there was a way to keep the tactile barrier or something I'd be super down for a flush back.

It maybe seems there will be no internal telescoping lens this year, but I think that was rumored for longer out anyway

Just got my 13 pro max on saturday and I loooove it. So much fun. Curious to see what we get!

Umm. That's disappointing - for me. Maybe this year is the year to go back to the Pixel! I still rue the day I sold my Pixel 5A for the iPhone 13. Maybe I should wait until final designs are leaked or for the actual product launch before getting carried away!
That is ... wise. It's kind of silly making purchase decisions based on rumors if you ask me, no matter how accurate those rumors wind up being. The one thing these rumors are good for, though, is getting folks up in arms about the rumored specs :)

Thicker design?!? But, how can we have a Keynote without Apple telling us what ridiculous percentage thinner the new model is? This is getting out of hand!
The iPhones have gotten thicker (not thinner) every single year since the iPhone 6’s released

This is disappointing; I was really looking forward to the previous reports of a flush camera. Huge bummer.

One of my greatest regrets is giving mine up. Should have let Timmy pry it from my cold, dead hands instead.
Yep, that'll be me now.. I was strongly eyeing the iPhone 12 mini, but the two stupid design changes remained (side button stupidity and camera bump), so I skipped. Same for 13 mini.

Sigh... I'd like the new cameras, but alas. I'll just get me a hand held DSLR instead. F the iPhone until they fix the stupidity. Fire the entire design team. Or we need to invest heavily into necromancy...

Really though, the huge increases in tabletop tapping wobbliness over the years feels very not-Apple. I’d much rather have a bump that extends across the width of the phone than have it just in one corner.
This. Put all the lenses, LEDs, and sensors, and the platform, in a single row across the top back edge, so it sits on a table in a stable manner.

Just give me a phone that fits in my hand and my pocket, and sits nicely on the table, with nicely contoured edges so I can easily pick it up when I need it.

You know, like the nearly perfect ergonomics of the very original iPhone.

BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL!!! It was and still is the best ergonomically designed phone Apple ever made.
That's why I traded my iPhone 6 for the 2016 SE ASAP.
