Not sure how I feel about the 14 Pro battery… 100% at 8:38am, 28% at 11:18pm. Didn’t use it all that much.View attachment 2070447
Following up with a full day of heavy usage on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. 🥇 🏆

Sounds like the battery isn’t all that great. You guys are making me reconsider upgrading my 12
I’m tempted to upgrade with the trade in deals but this is what worries me. I am a super heavy user and my 13PM gets great screen time. Im tempted to just cancel my pre order and replace my battery.

I've had a 14 Pro since release day and battery life seems terrible. I've mostly been at home and using my MBP and iPad for the past two weeks, so I've had many days where the iPhone just sits on my desk all day, and yet it loses a huge amount of battery — far more than my 13 Pro would lose while idle.
Exactly my experience, I’m planning on turning off ASD and just use my Apple Watch for the widgets lol.

Don’t really see a point at this stage to use the iPhone ASD

Same here, my battery is dying way faster than my iPhone 13 Pro. Don't see the point of disabling AOD otherwise I guess I would have stayed with the 13 Pro.. I'm sure it will improve with time -and iOS updates- but right now the experience is not good.

Battery life on my 14 Pro Max has been great so far. I am not using the always on display and i get two days of battery before i have to charge which very good imo. Night and day difference between my old X and this one.

I’ve gone from a 13 PM to a 14 Pro and expected to take a hit with the battery performance but after almost a week it was still really bad, having to charge it half through the day just to make it last!

The only thing I can think of that was draining it was the AOD so I turned it off and noticed a considerable improvement. Not on par with a max but significantly better than before when the AOD was activated.

I know the android AOD will only display the time and some widgets where the iPhone at the moment insists on displaying a full wallpaper albeit slightly dimmed which I’m guessing is quietly sipping juice from the battery more than an android counter part!!

I got some numbers for y’all, tell me what you think:

Test 1
max capacity (%) Elapsed time (hours)
100 0
99 0.8
94 1.38
91 2.22
85 3.62
83 4.23
70 5.83
55 7.17
49 7.73
44 8.18
24 10.93
~ total battery life: 15.65 hours

Test 2
max capacity (%) elapsed time (hours)
100 0
72 4.38
45 7.83
29 9.8
~ total battery life: 14 hours

I am getting around 14-16 hours of battery life on my iPhone 14 Pro. Using it normally and just noting down from time to time, the % and time.

I am not charging the battery in the middle until it gets to around 30% or less than that and then I am restarting the measurement.

I keep the AOD on. I mean as long as I get a full day and don’t have to charge till when I go to bed I’m allright. Maybe later I’ll turn off the AOD to see how much more battery I get.

How did you measure the “elapsed time”? Sum of Screen Active + Screen Idle from Settings->Battery?

I measured elapsed time as the time since the battery was 100%. So, at 100%, the elapsed time is 0. So, in my first test, I took a measurement when the battery meter read 99%, and the time that passed when I took this measurement was 0.8 hours after, etc.

Wife 14 pro continues to have terrible battery life. Did a factory reset two days ago and no improvement. Will try turning off AOD for tomorrow.

How do I get this sucker replaced if it continues? I am not near an Apple Store.

You could contact Applecare and see if you can do express replacement? They send you a new phone and once you receive it, send the other one back?

The elapsed time (hours) 0.8 is 0.8 minutes?

So I did a test.
Phone at 100% when i slept, wifi on, AOD off.
woke up with 100% @ 810AM.
now 94% @ 1030AM

meaning to say it drop 6% during 2 hours 20 minutes.

14 pro, AOD on.
full day normal usage ~12hr
35% remaining w/ 3:35 screen on time.

Not great but pretty normal for a regular sized phone I'd say.

Coming from a 12Pro Max, that was way too much battery life I'd say, I rarely ever got to 50% on that phone.

My first 14 pro had a terrible battery life. It would go down below 50% without using much during the day by the evening. That device had multiple issues, so got a replacement and ever since it’s been acting the way it should. I believe they have a bad batch of batteries. I should add: I have AOD on all the time.

wow . so u walked into apple store and request for a replacement? that's it?

My 14 Pro (non-max) battery life has improved. I turned off 5G which is disappointing since it’s supposed to have a more efficient modem. Where I live I have full bars of 5G and at work it’s 1-2 bars so it was draining fast at work. But, when I’m at home I’m on Wi-Fi so it doesn’t really matter. I’m getting around 10 hours of screen on time. Today I’m at 4.5 hours of screen on time with 65% battery. Glad I gave this phone some time because I was worried at first but it seems this will work for me. I also keep AOD on, only change I made was disabling 5G.

I think the carrier deals will be the same next year also. I think the 12 to the 15 will be more of an upgrade. I am tempted but I held out for the 13 and didn’t regret it. I do wish the 14 was in the green color that they just released
