I try not to get bogged down by battery life and just use and enjoy my devices but I won’t certainly am not seeing this extra hour per day. And I’d prob say I get about 1.5h a day less than my 13 pro.

By the time I have about 5hr screen time, I’m down to 30% which IMO, isn’t great at all. I can only put it down to the screen running at a higher brightness when in daylight? None of the app etc seem to be playing up. I also have AOD off

The 14 Pro on 16.0.2 has terrible battery life. I’m thinking to sell it and return back on my 13 Pro Max. I’ve got maximum 5-6 hours SOT on WiFi. If start using 5G I’ll need a power bank with me.
Totally unacceptable this version of iOS.
Especially after tonight’s incident that shut off completely during charging.

I have 14 Pro Max, and it took almost 13hrs to drop from 100% battery to 99%. Running 16.1db3.

My settings:

iCloud backup OFF
AOD OFF
Background Apprefresh OFF
No lockscreen widgets
True Tone OFF
5G on Auto
WiFI OFF

sorry if partially OT: is there a way to see the battery stats since it detaches from charge and not from midnight? If I use the phone until 2:00 am, for example, the statistics for the last day will include those two hours even though I then charged the phone.

Did an install of the latest 16.1 Dev Beta and now my battery is better as on my 13 Pro and AOD is enabled!

That's good to hear. There's definitely something not quite adding up with the battery life on the 14 Pro. Nothing in the hardware explains it, so I expect there will be a fix soon. There better be, anyway.

This may have already been addressed but doesn't wireless charging pale in comparison to mains charging? how can we compare battery usage if a wireless charge doesn't power ur battery in the same way?

i know from firsthand experience that if I want to get a good day's use out my phone, i'll have to charge it using mains. I welcome thoughts on this!

Wireless, cable, it doesn’t matter. It’s not like wireless charging would deliver „bad“ power. It might take longer compared to wired charging but 100% is 100% - no matter how you got there ;)

I don't know if I could turn off all those features but it's interesting to see how much of a drain all those features use. Thanks for the report.

There is no good or bad charging. The current is delivered to battery regardless if it’s via cable or wireless.
There is absolutely no difference if you charge your phone let’s say up to 100% through the cable or wirelessly/MagSafe.

Not true - MagSafe/Wireless charging keeps the battery hot and as a result, decreases the battery health compared to wired charging, which doesn't result in the battery getting hot.

If you use a charger that gets the phone hot, that’s surely not wrong. But….

My 13 PM didn’t get hot with the Apple MagSafe charger and the 14 PM also stays quite cool. After a year of almost exclusively charging it wirelessly, the max capacity of the 13 PM still is 99%.

Not true, MagSafe/Wireless charging heats up the phone exactly the same like charging with a 20W Apple/Anker charger.
Also, if you use latest CryoBoost ESR’s technology the MagSafe charging produce less heat compared to wired charging.

Not true, Magsafe/Wireless charging is always less efficient then charging with a cable.
Less efficiency means more heat, so the iPhone is getting hotter.

eh. I beg to differ. Both can get battery to be hot. Eitherway I have been using magsafe/inductive charging and my phone still remained 100% in battery health for my 13 pro max.

So…. You just have your phone sitting there, doing nothing?

No, Im using it when I need it for calls, messages, weather, emails and music. I made myself a promise to never go back to how much I used my phone in the past, I used my phone so much that it became a problem - easily 20hrs a day. It was so bad that I never unplugged the charger, my phone was charging 24/7. I had to stop it.

Nowadays I fill my days with electric scooter, I deeply love driving it around and exploring new roads. While back I was exploring old castle ruins, when I started to drive back home the sun was setting, the sky was beautiful, and I saw birds traveling south right next to the beautiful sky. That moment I felt warmth and happiness inside me, I could relate to the birds - I was free. For that short moment I felt that not everything is bad in this world, there are still things we should cherish and keep close to our hearts.

I promise myself everyday to never go back to my old habbits, I wanna fill my days with something I truly enjoy doing. Right now its electric scooter, next month it might be something else, maybe even more exciting. Life is too short to spend it with a phone in your hands, explore world and life while you still can.

As long as I have aod off on my 14pm it is close-ish to my sold 13pm. See the pics from a test I did a few weeks ago.

How much does your 14 pro drain overnight if you dont charge it? I’ve been losing 5-6%, and it seems like the battery usage is indicating “Find My” is being used all night.
Experienced the same. Lost around 9% over night and battery settings reads 100% find my.
