I’m still not sure how this is hardware since I’m not seeing people have it continuously happen…

Also where is the proof that the camera was toast?

Some people do these videos for clicks
If you watch the video he does show photos taken by both 14PM phones and the one that had the camera go nuts didn't focus properly.

It is better than the 12Pro launch. Raised black display, which never went away and i had 3 phone replacements, and 2 screen replacements in the two years i owned it. Never fixed.
My iPhone 12 Pro was one of the best iPhones I've had. Zero problems with it.. I would have kept it but wanted to go back to a larger model. Big mistake...

Am sure I have this on my iPhone 12 mini.
Noticed when using AR in Pokemon Go

How frequent is this problem? A few devices are to be expected to have some defects, it's just about impossible to provide millions of phones all immaculate.

And in fairness, I think that installing Chinese Communist Party software sniffers like TikTok should lose you mobile phone privileges.

Just noticed. Hmm very sus. He implies it kept happening but most here say it happened once and not again.

We need a thread on how to make sure cameras are still good

This opens so many possibilities. For example there should be a music player app for the camera. I think it would be much better Pro feature than the gimmicky island.

It is what it is.

At least we are not seeing an explosion of defective cameras shaking and buzzing away. That right there would lead you to a bad batch. A software problem or defective design would have all of them going off in similar circumstances.

And is it ALL 3rd party apps that utilize the camera? Because if only a few than its the app that needs to be updated.

I mean. If you open outlook and try to take a photo does it vibrate?
Well there should be driver layer code in iOS that prevents the camera lenses from being moved beyond their absolute maximum points to prevent permanent hardware damage to the mechanism.

Got to say I've hit a couple of problems with the camera on my 14 Pro. When setting up my esim I had to scan in the QR code using Apple's own settings option 'Mobile Data, Add eSIM' and the image it was displaying was very blurred although it did scan it in. I've also used a couple of other apps that scan in barcodes and they have struggled to focus on the barcodes despite me never having a problem with my old 12 Pro.

The stock app does seem to work Ok for now but if I activate it and put the lens to my ear I can hear a small amount of clicking but am not seeing any vibration issues.

So there is certainly something quirky going on.

Exactly. I’m sure the cameras are fine. But it be nice to have a way to check.

If this is indeed a hardware issue, would it not be better to just open up Snapchat and Instagram and see if your camera rattles to get it over with and find out within the 14 day window?

I'm not advocating this as we don't know enough yet.

Agreed. However some had it happen once and never again.

I don’t think anyone has confirmed having it happened constantly.

Work from home quality. This is probably the first iPhone to be developed mostly during Covid.

Now we know why Cook is adamant about workers returning to the office. "Working" from the beach is over. Tim Cook has all the data on the lack of productivity and employee disengagement. Macrumors forum posters that claim they know how to run Apple better are not smarter than Tim Cook.

I'm skipping the iPhone 14 and probably also the iPhone 15. I'll buy the iPhone 16 because it'll be the first iPhone designed and produced with workers in the office.
Ok Karen

I find your comment rather absurd.

How about all the other excellent products and services that were developed during covid while working from home?

Interesting article - but leave your personal view out of it. I, among a lot of other people, actually love the deep purple. It's a personal choice.

This morning, my iPhone 14 Pro left the charger at 6:00 a.m. and it is 9:00 a.m. and it is still at 100% - I've commented on two FB posts, played a game for five minutes, read some email, and looked at a few pictures and a couple videos in the photo app and took one picture.

Yesterday, the battery was draining a lot faster. I was using it a lot, plus finish with the setup from the 13 to the 14. The phone didn't take long to charge up, so I was ok.

The iPhones for the past few generations do a lot of background behind the scenes work when first setup and restored from iCloud backup - so it only made sense my battery was draining more than expected and surprised this morning, getting better results.

I took the 14 Pro with me to a car show that was setup on a car dealer's lot, so the scenery was ugly. I used the RAW mode and the built-in camera app and shot a lot of pictures of cars and when I looked at it on the phone, it looked "ok" - then magic started to happen. My friend was going lady gaga over this one car, so for fun I took a picture of it, held my finger down over it and copied and pasted in the text message to him. He (and I) were floored at how awesome it had lifted the car away from the background. We did a few more like that. When I got home, looking at the pictures I took on a larger high quality monitor, I was floored by the quality. These were pictures that were actually just as good as my Nikon Z5 and the pictures and video both have a full-frame aspect feel and look to them. I could see every little detail on each of those cars, despite most of them I was standing back a few feet!

The 2x and 3x now works. For some reason, iPhone 13 and all the way back to when I first used iPhones, the zoom absolutely sucked for the most part. I mean, the quality was not all that great much of the time (although there has been times when the zoom actually did quite well) and was always jealous of android phones that got better quality zoom. The zoom has been fixed and I am seeing quality as expected.

If I didn't upgrade this iPhone 14 Pro for the next five years, I don't think I will feel like I am missing out on anything. I can finally say, as photos and video goes, Apple has nailed it. It is the quality that I have always wanted. I'm not selling my Nikon Z5 and will continue to use it. Despite Apple's new sensor, there is a lot of computational photography involved - more so now, actually and the Z5 in RAW is straight image.

I guess. Also have a year warranty to sort these things out.
If you paid it with a credit card, you should verify, you probably have 1 or 2 additional years of warranty.
I personally have 2 more on every electronic device I buy. The only thing is, during these two years, if it breaks, you need like 20 documents and the claim is long to fill.

Had this issue in a banking app while setting up on my new device which needed me to photograph my ID within the app. Swapped to main camera with no problem. Just taken this of a cushion’s fabric. No vibration and still focuses

It's only Monday but this is ABSOLUTELY the stupidest thing I'll read all week.
