Interesting article - but leave your personal view out of it. I, among a lot of other people, actually love the deep purple. It's a personal choice.

This morning, my iPhone 14 Pro left the charger at 6:00 a.m. and it is 9:00 a.m. and it is still at 100% - I've commented on two FB posts, played a game for five minutes, read some email, and looked at a few pictures and a couple videos in the photo app and took one picture.

Yesterday, the battery was draining a lot faster. I was using it a lot, plus finish with the setup from the 13 to the 14. The phone didn't take long to charge up, so I was ok.

The iPhones for the past few generations do a lot of background behind the scenes work when first setup and restored from iCloud backup - so it only made sense my battery was draining more than expected and surprised this morning, getting better results.

I took the 14 Pro with me to a car show that was setup on a car dealer's lot, so the scenery was ugly. I used the RAW mode and the built-in camera app and shot a lot of pictures of cars and when I looked at it on the phone, it looked "ok" - then magic started to happen. My friend was going lady gaga over this one car, so for fun I took a picture of it, held my finger down over it and copied and pasted in the text message to him. He (and I) were floored at how awesome it had lifted the car away from the background. We did a few more like that. When I got home, looking at the pictures I took on a larger high quality monitor, I was floored by the quality. These were pictures that were actually just as good as my Nikon Z5 and the pictures and video both have a full-frame aspect feel and look to them. I could see every little detail on each of those cars, despite most of them I was standing back a few feet!

The 2x and 3x now works. For some reason, iPhone 13 and all the way back to when I first used iPhones, the zoom absolutely sucked for the most part. I mean, the quality was not all that great much of the time (although there has been times when the zoom actually did quite well) and was always jealous of android phones that got better quality zoom. The zoom has been fixed and I am seeing quality as expected.

If I didn't upgrade this iPhone 14 Pro for the next five years, I don't think I will feel like I am missing out on anything. I can finally say, as photos and video goes, Apple has nailed it. It is the quality that I have always wanted. I'm not selling my Nikon Z5 and will continue to use it. Despite Apple's new sensor, there is a lot of computational photography involved - more so now, actually and the Z5 in RAW is straight image.
Does that stuffed animal have a driving license?

can I nominate that this whole debacle be coined vibrategate?

I bump your nomination in favor of the term "ThrobGate".

As far as working from home, I'm not a fan of it myself. I worked in person 99% of the pandemic, and only worked from home when our building was fogged, or when doing special projects for overtime. Otherwise, it was in the box, every day. Day after day.

Working from home for me is more like "living at the office". I didn't like it. It's bad enough that we're always connected to work through our phones, remoting in to the office to do work. It gets old for me.

I'm not knocking it, it's great for some people. I like it when I'm doing extra work that's only a few hours here and there on my off day and am getting extra money for it, but day after day? It's not for me.

As far as Tik Tok and Snapchat, I don't use either. I swore off all social media 2 years ago and don't miss it. Social media sucks.

Not really. This is an incredibly devastating problem. It will sully Apple's reputation for quality.

I can just see Samsung's next ad mocking Apple… but on legitimate grounds!

I don’t know is it has caused any damage yet, close focus is still shot. Just as bad as it was with my 12Pro. So much for these “PRO CAMERAS”
WTF, I bought 12 Pro Max and it has always struggled with close up focus. My old 10 and 11 Pro Max where way better.

A family member went XS Max->14PM and loves the camera but immediately commented in low light with close subjects (not too close just from previous habits) looks like doo doo. Can confirm with my 14PM as well, my se2020 (granted on iOS 15 but still) 'shames' it in this regard with same lighting and setting, A/B'ing and that should not be the case. Still a lovely camera and device , but that's seemingly been the case for a couple years now as you mentioned. They really should get it under control, that's not good when someone who isn't OCD like me notices it and thinks their phone is messed up day 1 :/

Just like someone should've slapped someones hand out of the oversharpening cookie jar. It's shocking to see Apple play those short sighted optic games.

Imagine if Apple would have made ads about Samsungs exploding batteries!

The $hittiest iPhone release in history. So glad I didn’t swap my 13PRO.

It's got some hiccups, like all launches, and not simping some of them are kinda embarrassing for Apple imo (if they had shame, which I do not actually know), but this smells of Copium -- even 13 Pro being a great device (and one where I likely wouldn't upgrade either, because 13 Pro is so good already)

Told you iOS 16 is beta software for the next 6 monthso_O
Don't have any of those apps on my 14

Once again, thank you SO much for not implementing 8k video and saving me from falling for the hype and buying two of these dogs out of the gate. See ya, oh, around spring of 2024 when you've worked out ALL the bugs on the 15.

close focus on the 14 Pro is different than the 13 Pro due to the different focal length. so that is normal
They said that about 12 Pro Max too, but 11 Pro Max and 13 Pro max where fine.
Being unable to get stable focus in closeup because of blabla blublu is just lame excuse.
And it's hard to believe they are doing the 12 Pro Max mistake all over again.

Give me an iPhone that is made in China over an iPhone made in India or the USA.

The work ethic and diligence of Chinese workers can't be matched.

I won't buy an iPhone unless it's made in China.
I have no idea if true Vs India, but at this scale... definitely true for Vs USA. On another note.... for China... is it work ethic, or is it fear?

Snap and Insta don’t trigger for me on 14 Pro. Then opened up TikTok camera, and I quit the app so fast 🫣😬😵‍💫
But is it a widespread issue or did we really get defective devices? I have my return request confirmed and all I have to do is to send it back but I don’t want to because it’s going to take so much time for me to get my phone back.

Same lol. Hopefully TikTok and the other affected apps will issue updates this week to fix it. I think it’s the new sensor shift sensor that is causing it and the apps do not know how to deal with it. WhatsApp and Instagram seem to be fine, I don’t use Snapchat but TikTok did cause some minor shaking so I uninstalled it for now.
