Snapchat and Instagram have bug fixes that came out today - can anyone confirm if this fixes the issue for them? TikTok has not been updated for 2 days so they will need to release one too.

What happens to returned 14 Pros? Will they have the camera modules replaced and repackaged/sold as new or as a refurb in a few months?

Can I trust Apple to actually respect the warranty or will I have a bad time with them?
I personally had good experience when it comes to their warranty. Although I only have’d one iPhone that had a hardware failure in the past, but they replaced it for me at that time. As long as it’s a hardware issue, it will be covered under their 1 year warranty and they will replace your device.

I don’t want to upload anything. Is it normal? When the camera changes you can see double for a second and how the camera is focusing. This didn’t happen to me in my 13 Pro
Anyone that says this is normal has to get their head examined. No that is not normal!

How do I know if the 2 seconds harmed my unit???
Yeah, it happened to me twice, for a total of around 4 seconds and I don't know if that damaged the camera or not. I kinda of want to replace my phone just because I know it happened.

I came to the conclusion this is software. If I do the same on a third party app I don’t have the double vision, it just autofocus and that’s it.

If I do it in the camera app the double vision is present.

Also the camera app doesn’t make any sound but instagram and Snapchat does.

You can’t, and Apple certainly won’t check that for you. You have two choices:

1. Return if for a full refund and order a new one later (or ask if they can replace it but they might refuse after this statement went out)
2. Use it as is and get Apple Care+ (basically rewarding Apple for the lack of QC) and exchange it later if an issue arises. You will then get a replacement unit that is a refurb.

Work from home quality. This is probably the first iPhone to be developed mostly during Covid.

Now we know why Cook is adamant about workers returning to the office. "Working" from the beach is over. Tim Cook has all the data on the lack of productivity and employee disengagement. Macrumors forum posters that claim they know how to run Apple better are not smarter than Tim Cook.

I'm skipping the iPhone 14 and probably also the iPhone 15. I'll buy the iPhone 16 because it'll be the first iPhone designed and produced with workers in the office.
Someone has a case of the jellies...

the past two years are not impressing me. Apple needs to step back and take a couple years off and reflect on what made them great innovators to begin with. The economy is bad enough people don’t need new devices every year. It is ludicrous.
I agree about the last two years not being impressive. Apple would do well to get everyone working on site again.

How was the work item completed? How did it pass QA? Are there testing documents available that shows QA experienced this but completed the work anyway? Why didn't their managers get involved?

Sitting in a cube does not MAGICALLY make bugs go away.

The issue here is, iPhone should not have been released yet - problem with the product and marketing department not the development. But they need to keep their schedule. All it takes is 5 seconds to test this and they wanted to release the phone anyway?

Does anyone recall similar issues that occurred when 12 Pro Max was released? It was the first iPhone to feature a sensor-shift IS main camera (later adopted by the base model iPhone 13) but as far as I know, it was pretty compatible with all the 3rd party apps that utilize cameras.

I don’t know. I don’t think it’s normal for the cameras to take 3 seconds to change, they are so slow. So anyway, I’m going to replace this thing. Hopefully is not as widespread and it’s just a bad batch.

Apple support told me they are aware of the issue and asked me if I wanted to wait to see if they can fix it with a software update or if I wanted to replace the phone. I told them I want to replace it lol
I stopped at Apple to look at these and totally noticed this. I thought because this is a demo unit so perhaps something is off. I turned on ProRAW, switched to camera, which opened up. Took a few pics. swiped to Cinematic mode, that took a few seconds to show anything on the screen before I could test that out.

Swiped back to Photo mode (RAW) and again, 2-3 seconds for anything to show up on the screen before I could take a pic. Actually a bit frustrating.

After that, I think I used a 1/4 of the bottle of hand sanitizer Apple had there. This phone was a slimy disgusting mess from perhaps 300+ people before me handling this. 🤢

Apple never expects customers to buy new iPhone, MacBook pro every year.
they expect people using iPhone 11 to upgrade to iPhone 14.
