No one says bugs didn't exist before.

It's the incredibly stupid and embarrassing bugs, hardware defects, and delays after delays for product launches. All of these have increased in frequency since WFH.

Before COVID, only the most disciplined and valuable members of the work force were given permission by employers to work from home. After COVID, everyone got to work from home. What could possibly go wrong?
Typical American micro managing mentality. For every one member of staff you need a team lead or manager 🤣 👍🏼

I tried this on Instagram and didn't have any problems. I don't have Tik Tok because I'm not twelve, but I also tried Discord (which I use for remote music lessons) and Skype, and did not have any problems. Upon hearing conjecture that triggering this bug may cause damage, for the time being I have disabled cameras for all apps except Apple's native ones. Pity too because I use Turbo Scan quite often. Still, not worth the risk until we have a better idea what is going on.

Yeah, but if it is a hardware issue and you don’t detect it soon enough then you’re going to have a hard time getting a replacement

The strategy here is to disable those camera use till apple gives an official word. Then once they do you can go ham on the camera

No point damaging the cameras now. And no point going to apple now to get a replacement cause if this is a hardware issue they have to identify it and fix it in their manufacturing process which is going to take a while before it hits the shelves.

Everyone here who got on launch day has till September 30 to refund in full

I just talked to Apple's support, I was informed that there's a high chance of it being an update issue with these third party apps. I'm not really concerned if it's going to damage the camera system because I got their 1 year warranty and Applecare, but it just annoying that in case that happens, I will need to get new one and move all my data etc. I hope they find a solution soon.

I also noticed taking pictures with WhatsApp it will not focus when object are little to close !!!
Never seen this before on other devices

Considering how popular those apps are this is almost funny that this type of bug made it through into production.

just tried FB, Snapchat, tictok on my 14 Max and no issue. You would think if its software all phones would be affected but then again it does not happen in the native cam app.

Software affects phones differently. Not everyone gets same bugs

It doesn't switch to the macro camera. The min focal distance is a bit further now on the 14s

A guy here left it for a whole minute. I don’t think you have seen the videos. This thing shakes like 5 times a second
I saw it. For me I tried it a fore a few seconds Sunday and then changed to another app and went back. And then it did it again but then stopped.

I didn’t leave it running for minutes.

I just wonder if some people have this issue all the time.

Holy effing dren.

It just keeps getting worse. Apple needs to stop with this yearly release BS. Whatever culture changes inside Apple occurred prior to the 2013 products being released, it HAS to be fixed.

Unfortunately, it’s probably the Wall Street mentality, and I don’t think current Apple leadership, nor any current tech industry leadership, has the will, or sense of reason to go against Wall Street pathology.

Can I trust Apple to actually respect the warranty or will I have a bad time with them?

Base on my years of experience with apple front line reps and call techs and working in retail for over 10 years, they don’t know their stuff and most are scripted. If anything they’re just delaying your complains till the big guys at apple actually do something about it or pass it on to someone else to deal with it

Why? If it’s under warranty and it is a hardware malfunction, Apple needs to fix/replace.
I don’t know. I’ve never replaced an iPhone before. Is that easy? Keep in mind there’s no Apple Store here at all and I can’t go to one. Will a phone call suffice for them to replace the thing?
