Third party apps never had the chance to beta test the iOS with the new hardware until the phones were released a few days ago. But wouldn't Apple's internal QA test the most popular apps to make sure their basic functionality is not affected by the new hardware?
exactly

also YouTube reviewers had their hands on them a bit earlier and this is a pretty hard miss on them if they had the issue. and given that some people are reporting that their cameras are fine with those same apps, this has to be a hardware issue with a "unknown" batch of devices affected

I am redundant to try these apps' cameras on mine til apple gives out a plan. hopefully they do this before everyones 14 return date ends (sept 30) if majority got on launch day

You can quickly order a new one hand have it banked just in case.

It is better than the 12Pro launch. Raised black display, which never went away and i had 3 phone replacements, and 2 screen replacements in the two years i owned it. Never fixed.

Point number 2 is what concerns me. They will happily exchange your phone in the states Or in first world countries. I am **** out of luck on that. I do believe that my camera is also damaged to some extent. I will know that only if everyone has the same poor close level focussing abilities.

Yeah that really sucks. Not exactly the same thing - but I got a OnePlus 5T phone back in the day, and I live in a country that OnePlus didn't officially operate in. It had a god-awful display uniformity issue, and having to fight with the retailer to get it sorted was a nightmare. They refused to exchange it for another one.

In the end I took a leap of faith and ordered a brand new one at the same time as I returned the old one, and thankfully after some back and forth they did refund me. And the new one that arrived was perfect. But if it wasn't, I would have had to go through the same thing again and again. After that I decided to only buy phones from companies that offered support in my country. But that is an easy choice to make in a first world country.

In Canada in my city its back ordered till end of oct - early nov at the moment lol, if anything I have to keep an eye on their in store stock everyday to get one at this point lol

And the let the over-reacting commence! Oh wait...too late ;P

But truthfully, this is definitely a major issue, but an issue Apple will sort out - whether via a software fix, or hardware replacement. Should something like this happen, of course not! But with Apple, if there is an issue with their products, I trust they will get them fixed .

If that's the case, Apple could have just swept the lazy and unproductive workers and only hire the best of the best that can productively work from home.

It doesn’t work, humans are based on Pareto distribution. Most people are, by definition, not good.

Most of the work in a team is done by the square root of the total members on the team.

So, team of 4, then 2.

Team of 100, then 10.

Team of 1000? Only 32.

Team of 100000? Only 316.

That’s 0.316%. Apple can’t fire 99.6% of their employees.

If the issue becomes apparent after using the three apps listed, doesn’t it stand to reason that this is due to a software bug?

Also, I made a correction:

“iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max owners should avoid opening the camera in apps like Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram if they are concerned about potential damage to their brain.”

First world countries rock! I had my 12Pro swapped without any hassle twice for raised blacks.
Used that stupid defect to get new phones when they were scuffed up. Did not work in my country and had to pay the AC+ deductible.

iPhone 4 : AntennaGate NEVER FIXED.
iPhone 6 : BendGate NEVER FIXED.
iPhone 12Pro: Raised Blacks NEVER FIXED
Looking at this, my 11Pro was the best phone. Had zero problems and my sister is still using it. 3years old!

I wish all the luck and success in the world to all countries who want to prosper into first world countries. The world will be a better place, and hopefully it's just a matter of time.

Jeez, clearly a simple bug. Why? cuz it's only non-Apple apps. Somehow, this got through. I imagine we will se an update in week or less.

Ok, it's strange I'll admit (haven't a clue what is shaking, etc.) Very unlikely there's hardware damage. And really,
Covid? Lazy workers, post-Covid slackers?

You know what people are ignoring here is the potential for hardware damage. Bugs are fine, we all have been used to apples great software development, but their whole HARDWARE + SOFTWARE working together nonsense should not lead to bugs causing HARDWARE DAMAGE!

I think iPhone 5S was the best phone for the year. It was so ahead of its time.
I would’ve said that, but i had 2 5S’s with issues. One died in warranty, the other i still own and works but does not connect to any cellular network, pretty much an iPod touch.

Work from home quality. This is probably the first iPhone to be developed mostly during Covid.

Now we know why Cook is adamant about workers returning to the office. "Working" from the beach is over. Tim Cook has all the data on the lack of productivity and employee disengagement. Macrumors forum posters that claim they know how to run Apple better are not smarter than Tim Cook.

I'm skipping the iPhone 14 and probably also the iPhone 15. I'll buy the iPhone 16 because it'll be the first iPhone designed and produced with workers in the office.
Don't ever become a manager unless you want your employees to hate you.

WFH is life changing, literally. Only a sadist would force employees to come back into the office.

iPhone 14 Pro users should opening Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter or else their $1,000 phone camera might shake itself to death?! This is insane. Virtually all of us will be using at least one of those apps on an iPhone Pro. Whoever's fault this is should be glad that it's Tim Cook in charge and not Steve Jobs.

Are you sure you want it if they're not happy to be there?

Since we're all doing speculation, I would guess the small design teams have been meeting in person, and if this is affected by Covid in any way it's probably more so that Apple employees have not been in China as much as usual.

That's if it's affected by Covid. It could just be typical Apple secrecy where no teams are allowed to talk to each other completely so the final product at the end is affected by unforeseen issues between hardware and software because they literally don't let the hardware and software people talk to each other which all but makes certain there will be unforeseen issues . . . because they want it to be unforeseen. Which makes me wonder why being in person is so important. They don't want people talking that much anyway.

So you don’t claim brushing your dog, attending your daughter’s school play, volunteering for PTA, or visiting your OBGYN as WFH.

Never gonna happen in corrupt poop hole countries. I regret moving back
