Not yet via Apple's TV app. But I think some developers are working on third-party solutions for other sports leagues.

I think sports leagues could update their own apps too with support starting with iOS 16.1.

I want NHL.

I think most of the world would be looking to Forza et al for association football (soccer in the US) scores.

Need a decent sports widget like in iOS 15 that shows the score of a number of your followed teams.

I can understand why this might be of interest to some, but I couldn’t care less about following US professional sports. College sports and World Cup - yep.

Does Apple just have a hard time getting other industries onboard with their new offerings. Homekit, Car key, door key, state ID, sports, all seem to come out half baked with very limited buyin. NFL is one of the largest sports in the US and it’s the beginning of hte NFL season. MLB is nearly over as we’re just about to enter playoffs.
I think this has to do with Apple being secretive about certain features and choosing to introduce the features with a select few third parties.

On the other side NFL and other third parties obviously want further engagement with Apple customers but they don’t necessarily want to give it away. They are probably weighing stuffing instant updates behind a paywall or offering delayed ones for free vs letting other apps do it.

my gripe is that I wish it would work with your teams you follow. you currently have to in and follow each game individually and only after they start.
I'm sure once MLB releases their update.. it'll allow us to get dynamic updates of our favorite teams we follow without having to do anything...

It is through Apple's built-in TV app (you have to hit the Follow button on each game every time.)

Any sports league could update their own app with support for this feature with their own aesthetic once iOS 16.1 is released.
I must be missing something Is the + the same as the follow? I don’t see a follow button and I’m in 16.1

I just don’t follow sports while using phone so I can see a black bar at top display score. YouTube tv records all I want. Or I’ll use an app.

Maybe it sounds better on paper or something

What happens if Apple eventually removes the Dynamic Island in the future by having an under-display camera and sensors?

You know... you really gotta hand it to Apple on this thing. They managed to take something that was criticized as being an eye-sore and figured out a way to market it into something positive. Now, whether or not it is something positive isn't the point. The point is that they pulled-off the perception of it being positive. And for that, you have to give them credit where credit is due... at least with their marketing department.

I still don't get the hype over Dynamic Island. Isn't it just a glorified status bar?? With some sort of partition and the centre one containing the redesigned "notch".
Yeah they could do a lot of what they do with the island, with the notch. A ‘dynamic peninsula’ doesn’t have to be much less impressive. Props to Apple’s marketing team.
