For those of you having FPS issues with BeatStar. Both myself and my wife upgraded our phones at the same time (11 pro max, 12 pro max) to the 14 pro max. I did a full iCloud restore from my 11 pro max backup and have been having nothing but issues with BeatStar randomly dropping frames in multiple songs. My wife's phone wasn't having any issues at all. I tried several of the same songs between both devices and mine was garbage and her's was flawless. I had a Genius appointment to point this out and ask if they could run some tests or maybe admit to having a bad batch of displays in the wild. Anyway I tried one more thing. It sucks but I setup my phone from scratch, not doing a restore and only downloaded the 1 app - BeatStar. It has been working flawlessly with no FPS drops for several days now. I'll report back if I notice anything but I'm assuming it's related to other apps installed. I'm starting to believe one of the previous posts from the iOS engineer and how it was mentioned its the way the OS manages memory. I know I've read others saying it's the same whether you do a full restore or from scratch but in my case the from scratch setup has fixed my issue.
In Beatstar, does it still stutter when pressing a note? Mine is still having issues with that game and I never restored from a backup. Apple is at least aware of it, just not sure how long it will take for them to fix this.

I haven't noticed that yet but I know what you are talking about. One thing I didn't mention before is that the default iOS 16 install still puts some widgets on the screen. I removed those completely as well. I wanted to make sure the only icon/app was BeatStar and nothing else was running/background refreshing or installed. Don't get me wrong I think this is super pathetic. It's ultimately an iOS issue. I hope this memory management problem gets fixed soon.

This is better than some other anecdote posts being slow.

Ned s’more information like:
Storage model,
How many apps running in background (especially how many tabs per browser is in background).
Has anyone tried the iOS clear RAM step (using on screen virtual home button; if that still works)?

Really annoying to setup an iPhone as new though. Yet I do agree this is an iOS 15.6-16.1 issue. Restoring from 14Pro backup to 13 mini I lost all my iOS Stock app listings. Never had this issue at all since stocks was released back in ios5!

Regarding games I haven’t noticed any issues nor seen on other devices.

Has anyone tried iOS 16.2 Beta 2? It just came out and I’m wondering if it’s fixed there…

No. I just tested LOLM on iOS 16.2 Beta 2. It became EVEN worse. I used the high rate setting (120 Hz). The FPS only ranged between 60 - 67 for the first minute. Then it jumped to 118 Hz and quickly dropped to 60 Hz.

Tried a few games on my co-worker's 16.2 beta 2 iPhone 14 pro. Games still have the same stutter maybe more but almost every animation on his phone and basic scrolling in apps was stuttering much more than my 16.1 iPhone 14 PM.
Hopefully the public beta isn't like this

I don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up too much, but after installing 16.1.1 today, my issues with gaming *seem* to be fixed.

Now, it may be temporary. It may just be from a fresh restart. Idk. But so far, it seems to be better/fixed. 🙏🤞

What are some games that are fixed for you? I’ll give them a try!

The various Candy Crush games, Mahjongg (from Arcade). I’m not a “gamer”, so just casual games. But they were pretty bad.

The fluidity seems to be back.

Unfortunately, the stupid Island blocks the objectives and progress, so that kind of blows. But that’s a whole other issue.

Hi guys, I also downloaded the latest iOS update today and nothing has changed. I still have the same stutter. I even have the feeling that it has gotten worse. I haven't had a second where I had a stable 60 FPS in wild rift. There must be something to do now. It can't be that I can't play games on the go with a 1600€ smartphone. I am really disappointed with my iPhone 14 "PRO" Max.

I recommend you call Apple and talk to a senior adivsor about this. They are aware of the issue and said it will be fixed in an update. But I feel they don't really care that much about it.

I face stutters even in the ‘Hit the Island’ game. In my experience it only stutters when touch input is provided, there are no dropped frames when the user is not touching the screen. However it’s quite difficult to game like that…

I'm on 16.2 beta 3 as well. Still no fix. My bug report finally shows "similar reports: more than 10". So maybe they Apple is working on it?

Why has apple not fixed the gaming issues yet? Mario kart tour and subway surfers are terrible. Think it’s the pro motion that’s causing the issues because when I tap the screen repeatedly the lagging gets much worse

Lots of game devs are asking the same question. Im starting to think Apple legitimately doesn't know how to fix it.
