Yes, same thing with the touch bar - some Mac apps got touch bar support "for free" for common activities like playing media. But the real magic came when apps built a custom touch bar solution, which was unfortunately rare (e.g. showing Safari tabs in the touch bar).I don't think it needs to be "adopted" in the same manner. I think those animations are happening at the system level. For example it already works with Spotify because they are using the now playing api
It’ll be gone in 2024/25 according to Ross young the Pro line will go under display by then while the cheaper models gain the island next year.My hunch tells me that the dynamic island might end up with the same fate as the touch bar where it looks cool in demos but doesn't get enough 3rd party adoption to make it useful enough. But we'll see I guess.
The company appreciates this clearly objective review 😀Apple did an amazing job with the iPhone 14 point-blank period. Sept 16, Friday can’t get here soon enough.
A thousand times this. My 13 Pro was unpleasant to handle outside its case. I'm convinced the Pro phones in particular are designed specifically to look good in product photos.both are still fingerprint magnets
TBH at this time I think most people are looking to these 'reviews' as a sneak preview rather than something to base buying decisions on - and I think that's why MR are highlighting them.I don’t consider ANY of these reviews to be worth even reading, let alone relying on for helping me make any decisions. Rather than rush this post to the front page, you probably should have found some more nuanced reviews that actually have a bit more substance. The truly sad thing is that most of the public will probably be relying on these terrible sources for “technology reviews” just like you relied on them to push out this front page post as quickly as possible. 🤦🏻♂️
By the time (if any) that the island is mastered in apps, it would be removed in the all-screen iPhone 🤷🏻♂️My hunch tells me that the dynamic island might end up with the same fate as the touch bar where it looks cool in demos but doesn't get enough 3rd party adoption to make it useful enough. But we'll see I guess.
"Dynamic Island", hopefully this will become a smart toolbar for all iOS devices and not die like the hardware specific Mac TouchBar.
She had a near death experience this year with a blood clot. Seems like she's recovering decently. Not sure if she'll do a review?I hope iJustine isn't too rough on the new iPhone this year. She can be brutal with her reviews!
The Verge's Nilay Patel said the feature's potential is not fully realized yet, as no third-party apps support the Dynamic Island at launch. Third-party apps will be able to support the Dynamic Island once the Live Activities feature rolls out later this year.
"Right now, the Dynamic Island feels like one of those things that need a year of refinement and developer attention before we really know how important it is," said Patel.
So you think the 13pro was a more exciting upgrade from the 12pro??? I don't think so.least exciting iPhone 'upgrade' ever. I think this is the fewest bullet points as new features in iPhone reviews ever.
I have to admit I feel a bit bummed too. The colors still look really bad (everything too yellow and flat) on HDR pictures. Feel they haven't touched those algos in many years (Engineer left or whatever)So, Apple still applies the horrible correction on iPhone 14pro pictures too. No that huge jump I expected on cameras![]()
Then it's not the same.Same phone as last year, just a better camera.
Think the XS beats it but it’s close.least exciting iPhone 'upgrade' ever. I think this is the fewest bullet points as new features in iPhone reviews ever.
So you think the 13pro was a more exciting upgrade from the 12pro??? I don't think so.
Exactly. I have the 12pro and my wife's 13pro is a minimal upgrade. Camera is basically it. That was probably the least exiting upgrade ever.Yeah. 13 pro max was an easy pass from 12 pro max. Only difference was promotion screen basically
