I hope iJustine isn't too rough on the new iPhone this year. She can be brutal with her reviews!

This year even her enthusiasm may be somewhat tempered. She’s only going to love it, not love love love it.

Seriously when even these Apple blessed reviewers don’t seem impressed, this was truly a modest upgrade year.

It will be interesting to see Android copy this without the need to cover anything up, because you know Android always copies things (/sarcasm). Even Marques titles his newest review "This Will Be Copied!" Oh wait Android did this 7 years ago, as Marques points out, the LG V10 had their "second screen" feature, except it made more sense, it was all the way at the top and went across the entire screen. It's actually kind of cool as I look at old reviews.

After watching all the reviews today, the hype for this phone died down real quick. The camera improvements are barely there compared to my 13 Pro. I also have a Pixel 6 Pro and that takes more natural looking photos. It's bizarre how Apple can't win in the camera department against Google. iPhone alone brought in $190B revenue in 2021 and has a ton of R&D behind it. Pixel, with its 2% of US market share, is basically a side hustle for Google and is barely getting any resources. Apple should be more ahead with their infinite resources.

I hate the whole objection to "biased" anything. Who ISN'T?!

All I do is find the lovers, the haters, and those in-between, and listen.

I want to know WHY someone loves their stuff (like iJustine, although I don't really watch her content much).

I also want to know why they hate it (I go to Linus for that).

MKBHD and Dave2D are somewhere in between, and are the least extreme in, say, "intensity"?

I have disagreed and ignore the advice of all of them, at some point or another for whatever complaint they got.

The point of these devices is to get 'S' done AND make you happy (or vice-versa, if THAT makes you happy).

Find your favorite flavor, and enjoy it.

The 48 MP camera doesn't hold any interest for me at the moment. I don't, and can't foresee myself in the next couple of years, wanting photos that take up 80MB each. They're going to take ages to upload and sync, plus with 13 photos taking a gig of iCloud storage ... ouch.

What I *would* like is better low-light photography. The only tests done so far have taken photos in daylight and said they're no better than the 12MP cameras in previous phones. I'm hoping that in low light, the 48 -> 12 binning process really improves things. Let's see.

Zollotech is quite in-depth but he’s a massive apple shill desperate to get invited to the inner circle and events.
I have been sensing that over the past year. In fact, I only watch the unboxings for products I care about from him because he goes in depth. But I noticed he's going a bit too overboard, especially his iOS 16 beta coverage. They are long, drawn out. He did a 1 hour review of iOS 16 and I'm like, who has time watch that? Remember, long form content is pretty much dead. Even the Verge's 16 minute review of the iPhone 14 Pro Max was considered a bit long for me.

I'm still waiting on someone to show the Pro (with case) to confirm that it works with the Magsafe Duo, even if it doesn't lie perfectly flat. Apple says the 14 Pro is compatible, but I'd like to know about the case.

The pics already look pretty damn good from a phone. I’m not sure what people are looking for here. 20x zoom or something?

Focus should be on software/hardware. The island is nice but let’s see some unique apps as a result. Wish apple enabled phone call recording for example.

You’re kidding right? 13 Pro was the biggest update since the iPhone received OLED in 2017.
Errrrrr. No. I have the 12 pro. My wife has the 13 pro. Very very little upgrade. I have no idea where you're coming from on this. I've upgraded almost every year and the 13pro is one of the few I've skipped. Not sure what you're smoking...

I don't think the reviewer understands the purpose of shooting in raw format. It's not to get more sharpness or detail, it's to have more data giving better editing control overall to do things like lift shadows, dial back highlights, correct white balance, and choose your level of noise reduction or sharpening in ways you can't with JPEGs. A 12 megapixel ProRAW from an iPhone 12 or 13 will look similar in terms of details as a regular JPEG/HEIC, you simply have more editing control if you import it into apps like Lightroom.
Canon, Nikon, and Fujifilm will be happy to know that a 12mp sensor will produce the same sharpness, clarity, and lack of pixilation as a 48 mp camera. WTF are you talking about?

It seems normal 14 isn’t worth upgrading if you have a regular 13. It seems the pro models are the only ones with enough new stuff to upgrade and is a solid phone. But overall, it seems if you have a 13 or 13 pro this isn’t going to be a huge leap. But for those coming from older phones like myself, this seems like a really great iPhone purchase!

I don’t consider ANY of these reviews to be worth even reading, let alone relying on for helping me make any decisions. Rather than rush this post to the front page, you probably should have found some more nuanced reviews that actually have a bit more substance. The truly sad thing is that most of the public will probably be relying on these terrible sources for “technology reviews” just like you relied on them to push out this front page post as quickly as possible. 🤦🏻‍♂️
The Verge’s review is actually pretty fair. For the 14 Pro line they thought the Dynamic Island was a good idea but not as useful as it first seems at the moment. It may be after apps are updated but for now it’s much more noticeable day to day than the notch. The camera system was also shown to be weaker than the Galaxy S22’s and sometimes even the Pixel 6 depending on your preference. They out right called the iPhone 14 (non-Pro) the 13S. That’s not a biased review.

I did read the review instead of watching their video which I’m sure sharea the same opinion.

Edit: MKBHD says the AOD does affect battery life...

Well, of course. Anything that uses power does. The question is the degree to which it affects it. I know with my AW, I have no issues with battery life using AOD, so I'd imagine it would be the same with iPhone.
