Yeah, cause a 12.9” iPad Pro fits real well in a skinny jeans pocket. Or are you going to wear it as a breast plate and LARP MadMax? CyberPunk? Gladiator, but without the lions and swords?
There's these amazing things called cases. Put it inside and carry wherever you need. Depending on your lifestyle, If you're active, a large product is not practical. However, if you don't engage in lots of physical activities, carrying around something the size of a 12.9" iPad is cakewalk and beats using a tiny miniature display any day. Especially if your entire lifestyle revolves around productivity

You can also use an iPad like an iPhone in case you didn't know. It is just less convenient because of its size.

An iPad is 100x more versatile than a measly iPhone and that's just a fact.
No, the cellular iPad is devoid of phone functionality. It’s not possible if you need to receive OTPs or other SMS and regular phone calls. Some apps like WhatsApp are not even installable on the iPad. Apple made it so you cannot just have an iPad to replace the iPhone. The iPhone is more profitable, so there shall be no substitution product within the company’s own lineup.

May finally ditch my 8-plus and go for one of these models. But why am I worried the prices are going to skyrocket again.
If you’re in the US, price won’t skyrocket that much. Probably just a $100 increase from the current price points at the most. If you’re outside the US, then yes, we have to worry as the jump can be huge. I’m debating if I should just upgrade to the 13 mini now instead of waiting for 14 to be released as I’m afraid Apple would not drop the 13 price, but increase the 14 launch prices instead. We already have Apple launching the 3rd gen SE here at higher price than the iPhone 11.

At the basic MINIMUM, ram is required for FEATURES. Hence why ios has very little compared to its android competitor. Every Pro user MULTITASKS. Something that is also non existent on ios because of the low amount of ram. Annoying things like apps crashing/reloading to webpages reloading is a result of low ram. They could never do something like samsung dex for example, because of the low ram. These are all things that the average user doesn't care about and who Apple makes the lower tiers for
Yea never know you needed it until having less is a problem. Haven't tried Android since GS8+. Don't remember that one crashing as badly as in previous years, but the updates were still horrible, even security ones.

Yes hasn't risen since 8 to XS, and that was $100USD. Curious if they will go with the we need to raise prices because of supply cost, or if they will realize consumers are also getting squeezed, so even $100 could squeeze an iPhone out of people's wants budgets

it will look more like silver/grey like the iPad does.. or like the Sierra blue does, more grey than blue. Boring
I can at least see some Blue in Sierra. Midnight Green and Pacific Blue always looked dark gray to black unless in very bright light. My wife might jump on the Purple just because it's Purple, but I at least want some cool feature like AoD or USB-C. And also depends on if the price rises or not.

I understand Apple isn’t targeting the 14 Pro for those with the 13 Pro, but between the lack of USB-C, lack of major design changes, lack of increased RAM, and the A16 rumored to be staying on 5nm (N5P), the 14 Pro is looking even more iterative to the 13 Pro than the 13 Pro was to the 12 Pro.
They use to call something like the iPhone 14 the 3GS, 4S, 5S, 6S. But it looks like the 's' years were hurting sales and encouraged less upgrades. Physical redesigns are not so much of a big deal, there is only so much you can do with a rectangle. But, I certainly agree its time to switch to USB C especially with a product lineup that embraces it: Mac, iPad, AirPods, their chargers.

There will come a time that a individual will be able to dock their phone and use an external monitor and keyboard to work from.. A revolutionary computer that travels better than a laptop.

On the contrary.
The consumer segment that Apple targets want that high value. If more people are able to own Apple branded products, they will want something more expensive and exclusive. There's a reason nobody bat an eye when Apple raised the iPhone price to $999. So when regular consumers are getting squeezed, Apple has to actually increase their prices, so people will still see Apple as that highly desirable luxury brand. Apple doesn't really care about the low end consumers. The Apple brand is so highly desirable, even people who cannot afford the retail prices will try to find a way to obtain Apple products through second hand market. It may sound weird, but that's the consumer behavior.

Watch, iPhone 14 Max will be the best selling iPhone ever, and even with increased price, the Pro models will be selling well too.

You probably misunderstoof the meaning of Pro in Apple products. The Pro stands for Profit, aka more profitable for Apple, higher margins items. ;)

I wouldn’t get too excited let’s not forget that unlike android phones Apple is tuning and optimising the OS so much that anything more than 1-2 GB of RAM is just a gimmick and most likely primarily a marketing tactic.
Are you stupid? Try and run iOS 15 on 2 gb of ram. 6GB is barely adequate.

I can’t tell you what to do but I can promise you I wouldn’t do it if I was you.. I can promise you if I could right now I would Tear this whole iPhone apart piece by piece every inch inside and out is completely broken into little pieces everything and throw it in the river and never look back but enough said best of luck with apple and your device honestly god bless

Competitors has a 12 GB RAM (ex Nothing Phone)…
Well, even cheap Android phones have 8GB of RAM, but that's because RAM is cheap, and it's easy to sell a bigger number. So iPhones having less RAM for the dollar is partly Apple saving their own cost.

As for actual use, unfortunately, Android is not really taking good advantage of those big amounts of RAM anyway. Most OEM skins are very aggressive in freezing apps to save battery, so those large amount of RAM tend to be unused most of the time other than, maybe gaming. Eg. my S21 has 8GB of RAM, but most of the time, it doesn't even use more than 4GB of RAM or so, even if I use many apps to multitask. Majority of the time, the system would already close the apps down to save battery before RAM becoming an issue.

So in real use, Apple using having only 4 to 6GB of RAM is probably align with how iOS is optimized and operates. But of course, cost wise, Apple definitely could've put more and improve longevity of the device.
