This sucks.. at airport trying to join a conf call with AirPod pros, no one could hear me… had to flip to handset…

This is why I'm not EVER an early adopter, too many darned problems at launch EVERY year. I have a 12 mini and it's sitting at ios 15.7. I MAY update to ios 16 in a couple of weeks. But once everything is ironed out, it's fine. Still prefer Apple over Android. And the Carplay issue is nothing new. I tried an Alpine radio with Carplay built in, and the call quality was terrible, so I switched back to my OEM radio, using the OEM BT, and call quality was fine. This was about 3 years ago.

LOL this happens every time. Why does everyone act like it’s new?
Correct. Every year at every launch, they have problems. I love how everyone at Apple is "so excited" about the new stuff every year when they introduce new products. Too bad their CUSTOMERS aren't "so excited" with all the issues/

Tried to make a phone call with carplay today with 14 pro 16.0.1 - it would not work at all. Repeated tries didn't improve. Later when i was checking my phone, there was still a popup basically saying that my line was in use and if i wanted to use the other line? Never seen this. Only way to get rid of that pop up was to reboot the phone.

Happens with the release of every Apple product on here. Even back to the iPod there’s posts about problems at launch. Macrumors and other forums are echo chambers for this stuff, in reality millions of devices have been sold and only a tiny fraction of those will have problems. In other words, don’t get your knickers in a twist about it.
Well, this member of the tiny fraction would like to see this issue fixed. I use CarPlay a lot for phone calls. 😀

And he had the complete nerve to take shots at Forstall on stage at WWDC. I said it in an earlier post but i know high school students that can program with more effeciency and do it FAR more compentantly than Craig and his stooges xould ever hope to achieve.
I do remember those cheap shots when Forstall left the company. I would love to know what made Tim Cook decide he should go. I mean, Mapa was a disaster but it seems it was a disaster that Forstall warned them about. We’re 10 years later and it’s still a mess, they wanted Forstall to have it ready 10 years ago lol. Tim Cook supposedly fired him for it, but he doesn’t fire these guys for the mess they create every year.

The only one worth keeping is the guy that leads the processors team. He was the only one that has the guts to say to Tim Cook he needed a closed space and not that hipster building.
It's the same 'ol issue that has been plaguing apple since after snow leopard...
They focus on new features, instead of fixing the glitches (which have piled up to be many), same thing Adobe.
I use After Effects for my livelyhood, and there are some nonesensical errors that have never been fixed since After Effects' inception (1992), but they never shy at the chance to add a million features each time and break plugin compatibility...

The last somewhat stable release of macOS I remember was High Sierra (and still not perfect); I haven't had an iPhone before 2019, so I don't know, but I remember iOS 14 being fairly stable.
I don’t think it’s that at all. Apple is lacking a lot of features android has.

Following the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max last week, some early adopters of the devices said they have experienced an issue that prevents them from being heard at a suitable volume during phone calls initiated via CarPlay in a vehicle.

I'm running an iPhone 14 Pro Max. When plugged into my 2021 Honda Accord to CarPlay, I hear what sounds like RF interference noise every 15 seconds or so. When I'm connected via Bluetooth, there are no issues.

Not at all. Apple Maps is not a mess, imo.

There is no yearly mess.

The reason Apple is successful is not the spec sheet, it’s the ecosystem integration.

Not anymore. Apple is only successful right now because the hardware is top notch.

Yeah. It’s not like Catalina had bugs. Or Lion. Or iOS 7. This needs to stop being posted in every single thread. Is there proof work from home is the cause?

Working from home for most lower tiered employees is going to lower productivity by a lot. Executives and shareholders can work from home, and it will be productive, but not secretaries or developers.

This seems to only be affecting CarPlay and iPhone 14 devices. Count yourself lucky. My wife called me from here’s on wired CarPlay with her 14 and even if Max volume I could barely hear her. Older devices in family on iOS 16 seem fine.
That's not the case - I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I've seen others with 12s, 13s and 14s.

iphone 13 pro here .. upgraded to ios 16 and suddenly i cant hear anyone in calls in carplay and they cannot hear me at all. when changing to speaker or iphone the sound is normal. never had any issues prior to ios16

In my opinion two things have occurred, 1. The beta testers are absolutely hopless at their job or 2. The beta testers found these bugs and reported them but Apple decided to release the iphone with the bugs rather than delay the launch to fix the bugs.

Entirely driven by the September release schedule. I opened my phone today and the Lock Screen had the day/date obscured by some other illegible text. I expect next week's update will tidy up quite a few issues.

Well you may recall I mentioned no CarPlay voice issues for me on my new 14 ProMax. But I had failure of voice on my ipad microphone of facetime, other iphone, messenger calls/videos. So was wondering if 15.7 broke something on iPad. Well I am embarrassed to report I was wrong. I looked at tons of videos and sites on ipad microphone problems. But first off they always had me try to record to video which worked fine and my voice was fine with the photo app videos.

But one thing I ignored in the help sites was “clean your microphones“ because they ”worked” with my photo app videos. So I was looking at the microphone holes (little pinpricks) on my 12.9 gen 3 iPad Pro. Two on side with power button, and one on bottom of ipad as it is mounted on my magic keypad. They had this faint white/yellow color but thought that was normal. Well it was not and my toothpick cleaned it out and not the pinprick holes for microphone are dark like the larger ones for the speakers for example. Hmm there was something in these after all.

Did a FaceTime call on the ipad through my iphone to my wife in other room with door shut and she could hear me perfectly. So I am at a loss to explain why microphones worked in this condition with video on phots app. But not in FaceTime calls or messenger calls or phone calls answered on my ipad but those apps and their use on the microphone must be different, more sensitive than the photo app which seemed to tolerate the dust/lint in the little holes. A new experience for me but then my ipad is a gen 3 so a bit old

I have this same issue with an iPhone 14 pro running 16.0 and 16.0.1 in a 2022 GMC Yukon. The callers on the other end state they can barely hear me and that I sound far away. Thought maybe it was the microphone over me that was bad but called OnStar using the in-car communication and no volume issues. This was not a problem using my 13 Pro.

Downloaded 16.0.2 last night on my 14 ProMax. Going to make some phone calls through my CarPlay this afternoon and see if we have a fix to this volume issue on the other end of a call.

Or it's possible these bugs were very specific and not uncovered. See Microsoft patch Tuesday as an example. If windows beta testers did their jobs then there would be no need for patch Tuesday. Correct?

I think the biggest difference here is that a phone isn’t free or available for a couple hundred dollars as they were back then. When you’re talking $1,500 for a freakin’ phone, the expectations are naturally higher — as should be those of the developers and testers…
