I'm kinda in two minds about upgrading. I have the iPhone 13 Pro and I am most looking forward to a better camera. I was really hoping that they would upgrade all of the cameras to 48mp, especially the telephoto since having a higher resolution means that you lose less detail when digital zooming past the optical zoom range. Unfortunately I havent seen any rumors about higher resolution telephoto cameras and even the rumours for the iPhone 16 Pro only talk about increasing the ultrawide to 48mp (kinda useless when you can take like 70mp panoramas). So although the camera will be better because of newer ISP, 48mp main sensor, better lenses etc, it's not the drastic upgrade I was hoping for. There are a lot of other nice upgrades though so maybe I should just go for it. My GF wants my 13 Pro because she is using a Galaxy Note 10+ and the cameras suck in comparison. We have to take all of our selfies with my phone coz they look terrible on hers haha. Maybe I'll just get the 15 Pro and be happy with the upgrade and then give my 13 Pro to my GF so we can finally both be on iOS and enjoy all of the benefits that come with that.

I have a Pixel 6a and my wife has an SE2020. For the past month we have been deliberating between the IP14PM and the S23U but think we are going to wait until the 15PM is released and then see how the land lay in terms of prices.

Periscope camera on the Pro Max will be great upgrade to the cameras. Base storage of 256GB will also be good
The base storage definitely needs a jump for the Pros, but look how stingy Apple are with their Macs!! It's terrifying that they'll charge $200 for an upgrade that costs them approximately $1 at this point o_Oo_O

"U1 chip (90nm)" --- that is an ancient manufacturing process. Not sure why Apple waited so long to update it.
Like many things, Macrumors are wrong also about this. It's not 90nm, but 16nm. You can check out the deep dive by TechInsights.

Also it's still not confirmed at all if we have new chip, let alone to be on 7nm. Could be on 10nm. They just guess.

+ USB-C is the upgrade justifiability trifecta for me.
I'm the opposite. Not that I have anything against USB-C and the data speed benefits associated with it! But I have multiple lightning cables available in all of my bedrooms, my office, living room, kitchen, etc. that I want to squeeze out a few more years before having to swap them all out for USB-C. I know it's not the end of the world and probably will cost me under $50-75 to buy all of the cables but still....

Also, I don't think I've plugged in my phone into a cable for data transfer in the last few years. Everything goes through cellular or wifi for me and I haven't had any issues with it (and yes, even phone to phone transfers whenever I update - I just do that when I go to sleep...).

Titanium Chassis + Periscope Camera! Enough said.

This sounds like a very compelling upgrade to me. Upgrade!
Yay, see you at the flight tracking party!

I’m not sure I’ll be able to use this phone any more than I could use my 14 Pro Max, so last night, on the last possible night I could do so, I signed up for Apple Care + on my refurbished 12 Pro Max, which is the ONLY iPhone I own, out of many, that I can use with no migraine symptoms.

But since I can’t use my beautiful purple 14 Pro Max anyway, I’m going to give the beautiful 15 Pro Max a try. The new display driver might make a difference. Might not. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I do miss having a good new modem out here in the countryside and other locations I travel to. 12 Pro Max struggles a little on our AT&T coverage.

I’m gonna pick a color and see what happens. With my silver 12 Pro Max at my side, I won’t be as crushingly disappointed if it doesn’t work out with the 15 Pro Max. I’m one of the lucky ones, as some of my friends on this forum with extreme pwm sensitivity can’t find any OLED iPhones to use.

What would be nice if for Apple not to drop the trade in values anymore for 13 Pro's and older, just to help with the price increase....but I seriously doubt this will happen. Wishful thinking.

I'd love to get the iPhone 15 Pro Max 1 TB but I know the price will be in nosebleed territory.💸
And the problem with this 2TB option as the new fourth tier is that even with the 1TB dropping down to the 3rd tier, if they increase the entry level price you're back where you started last year smh

I have the same hopes, but I wouldn’t hold my breath about that new display driver making a big difference.

Maybe, if Apple chooses the new type of Samsung’s OLED screens, the so called QD-OLED, we could have a better chance. This new OLED technology, available since past December, allows for a better angle of view, and reduces its flicker.

However, if this new technology was coming to the iPhone, I guess Ross Young would’ve mentioned it on a leak or tweet or something…

That's what I've been saying myself every year and then ending up buyng the new one in September. Keep trying though :)

I'm the same way. I promised myself at the beginning of the year that I wasn't going to buy Apple Products, but I remember going from the Samsung S21+ to the Iphone 14+ and the people selling me the phone was trying to guilt me by saying I was downgrading. At the time they didn't have any of the pro maxes and I was just about to travel for a month. Kinda feel like if the Pros are that good and I can get a nice trade in value, bringing in Dynamic Island, 120 htz, USB-C, and various other things, it might be worth the upgrade. At least I won't feel guilty for downgrading from an S21+ to an Iphone 14+ just because I wanted to return to the Apple Ecosystem.

Agreed. USB-C is much faster, but what percentage of users need > 60MB/sec transfer speeds?

It would be nice but given that Apple, carriers and other retailers drop prices on new phones as they get older (after next gen models are launched), it's only logical to see drops on used phones and trade values as well.

However, Apple does occasionally run trade-in promotions offering limited time extra trade-in credits on various devices.

Looks good, still no reason to switch from S23U.
How was you're experience moving to Android from iOS?
i was so happy with my iphone 12PM, i upgraded to the 14PM and what apiece of garbage with he camera.
i want to try something new and that something new is the Samsung Galaxy S24U when it comes out.

I'm still running a regular 12. What sort of sale do we think the 14s will go on? I'll probably just upgrade to a 15PM and be done with it for a hot minute :)
Dont even think about it, i was so happy with my 12 Pm, i got the 14PM now and what a garbage is, the camera is awful. i heard the camera will still be the same over processing the photos, so if i were you i'll wait till iphone 16.

If they bought back fingerprint ID, I'd be first in the queue.
Really good point, they make it pretty cool implanted it on the power button; why they cant do it on the iphone???????
look at samsung for example, finger print scanner under the screen..... apple is lost man.....

It's amazing phone. I still struggle with missing iMessage and so on but that is something to get used to, just like with leaving the Ecosystem. Camera is great especially the 10x zoom, and overall everything on S23U feels so easy to access, the customization of UI is a joy, while on ios I can't even arrange icons properly haha.

i think i will miss the iMessage too HAHA!, the airdrop and find my also... thats it but since i have also an ipad pro the transition wouldn't be so bad i believe, i still be around apple ecosystem but i do not want the iphone to be my daily driver no more.

Sounds wise, I have loads of movies and books in the Apple apps so for me that and imessage is the biggest problems

you know, i only use iMessage when i text my niece and nephew and using the stickers and emojis, that's about all.
my fiance and i since the day we met, we use facebook messenger but check this out, i saw a day ago that META is probably eliminating the SMS text on the messenger app in september so....
i think probably we gonna start using Whatsapp.
hey once question, do you use Samsung or Goggle pay a lot?
i do use a lot of apple pay tho.

WhatsApp is a really great substitute for imessage, very similar and I really like it. I use only Google Pay, and it works flawlessly, never had an issue and I can add multiple cards issued in different countries as well.

I'm tempted to get the S23 next month but I haven't used a Galaxy phone since 2013. Is One UI not overly complex compared to iOS? I don't really want a phone with endless menus of customisation options getting in the way of the basic settings that are actually important to me.
