What buttons?
Article says: "Apple will apparently let users tap on the green and orange dots to receive more information about what apps are using the iPhone's hardware."
What buttons?
As I mention, you looking at the approach of it. But I’m telling you why they went in this direction and you don’t see why?I see so many comments saying something similar to this similar to this but I just don’t see it. It’s a notch with a useless strip of screen above it.
Regardless if the pill shape is slightly lower or higher… it’s what Apple chose to do to get to the end goal. The improvement is going to be determined by how low the bottom of the hole is. If it is lower and Apple did this just to put that useless strip of screen above it just to make it not a notch then it’s actually worse.
I mean, you could say the same thing about the notch. Apple could have easily made the top and bottom bezels symmetrical. And I don’t think it’s a situation where “oh Android phones have a hole punch, let’s do it too.” Smartphone companies are following in this direction becasue they all want the same thing.I think this is just a change for looks instead of an actual functional change and I understand that because every android phone on the market has some sort of punch hole camera so Apple wanted to have their phone with one as well. I just hope this isn’t a downgrade when it comes to the obstruction being lower on the screen. I don’t think it will be though because that would be silly and I don’t think Apple would do that.
Is Face ID really safe? Imagine you steal the iPhone of a celebrity who happens to have a wax figure at "Madame Tussaud's". Could that wax figure - if it is made very accurately - unlock Face ID? Or could you even print a 3D version of that celebrity with a 3D printer and use it to unlock Face ID? Although passwords are inconvenient, they should still be much safer. If I had a choice I would give up the selfie camera but that wouldn’t fix Face ID. I know a lot of people want to post selfies on Instagram or video on TikTok so I’m probably in the minority.
No you can’t fool it with a picture. I’m not sure about a 3D model but that’s beyond what most people are going to do.Is Face ID really safe? You don’t have to use it. You can just set a pin code. It’s just more convenient. It’s no different than using a fingerprint in the sense that it’s biometrics. Unfortunately in life you have to show your face to prove your identity for a lot of thingsI also have a huge problem with having to show my face to a phone to prove my identity. That pretty much goes against human dignity. My face is not a passport.
I guess not as long as it worked and you wouldn’t have to flip it around multiple timesAnd if you really want Face ID, would it really be too inconvenient if Face the sensors were at the back?
The problem with this is you can’t see what the picture looks like while you’re taking it. Maybe if they put a secondary display on the back.If I would like to take a selfie of me, I would prefer the back cameras anyway, as they usually have a much higher quality. So rather than having a front camera, there could be a back display. It could have a very low resolution, as it is just needed to check framing and exposure.

So, a generic, low-budget Android? It even looks more like an actual smartphone (icon)

That’s just called targeted ads and it’s not related to your conversation. There’s always been the conspiracy theory that Facebook or Instagram is listening in on your microphone but that’s just simply not the case. Part of it is if you talk about sunflowers and you see an ad for jeans you’re not going to think anything about it. Out of all the ads you see once you happen to see an ad for what you talked about it’s like oh my god they’re listening on me. If that was the case you would never see the ads about anything you don’t talk about. It’s kind of like how a broken clock is still correct twice a day.Lots of privacy with those 2 light dots for sure…
Then you restrict micro and camera on IG, talk about something with someone who also have micro restricted and suddenly after a few hours IG will show you a perfect add of what you just have talked. (No other devices around with microphone).
I don’t know if Apple is aware of that. I think they should address that…
Not the part about the camera app controls.Dope. Good ideas.
To be fair I’m talking about the notch on the iPhone 13 Pro which I believe is smaller.Do you really like it? 😧 Is this you?

Where’s the android that has exactly this pill design when powered on with space used in between for indicators? So, a generic, low-budget Android?
I like that too. What’s wrong with that? Not the part about the camera app controls.
> Apple will also redesign the Camera app, moving most of the controls to the top of the display to provide users with a larger view of the camera preview
It’s hard to reach these controls on these big phones, top of screen is hardest spot to reach on any phone that isn’t sized as small as the mini.I like that too. What’s wrong with that?
I love Face ID. Specially the fact that I can if someone wants to see my notifications they can’t because it doesn’t recognize their face but if I pick it up it automatically shows then because It recognizes me.Is Face ID really safe? I don’t understand. Do people really use their phone with one hand only? It’s hard to reach these controls on these big phones, top of screen is hardest spot to reach on any phone that isn’t sized as small as the mini.
You need to stop using “Is that a "earpiece" I see in the screen of the new iPhone, it looks like the ear piece speaker on an archaic cellphone placed "right smack in the middle of the upper screen" where the ear piece speaker on old phones would be. This is a design mistake. Sorry Apple, but it's "unnecessary." I don't even think of this as a large pill first and most non-fanbased Apple users will not see it that way either.
Thank goodness for other companies who don't just pull "another version of the notch." This is a "reattached detached notch" that accounts for taking the "same space" or more yet being "overly exaggerated" in "highlighting" the fact that it's actually "there" instead of "blending" in seamlessly in the background (this is not the Apple way guys, new design team needed).
They should have "adopted" a under the screen or a side button "fingerprint reader" to just solve there issues and "remove Face ID" which should have been removed after the pandemic truthfully.
I will definitely "stick with the iphone 13 pro max" until this new design actually truly changes. Guessing I will see the iPhone 16 pro or 17 pro in the future because it's no way I want this design at all; mark my word this is a "messy design mistake....no excuses people."
I don’t even remember how phones worked but I don’t think they used the whole bar did they? Didn’t they did the same and just used the upper left and right corners? It would be really weird for them to actually put info on top of the pill. What about other ephemeral indicators like location and VPN? Assume they’ll still be on the same top status line with mobile signal, battery, etc?
And maybe now, with the pill shifted down slightly, they will be visible all the time?
You need to stop using “
