Welcome to Apple and modern tech in general…More marketing hype then any notable real world usage difference.
Remember back to IPhone 4-5s age, the race with Samsung to have the thinnest phone. Then people said they wanted thicker phones if it meant better battery life. It’s still lighter and lighter is better.
In a lot of ways, that is true. I am a happy Apple user. I just think the Titanium aspect of the new phone has been way overblown (around here) and isn't going to make a big impact on day to day use like a notable iOS feature that many would use.Welcome to Apple and modern tech in general…
I bet they massaged the figures by weighing the phone with the battery run down to empty. Once it's fully charged all those extra electrons will surely boost the weight back up😉I won’t argue that the dimensions are pretty much the max that we should see in a phone, but the hype here over 19 grams (and that will not be confirmed until Tuesday) is ridiculous, no one will spend more time with the phone in their hands because of the weight…
And with all the complainers here about battery life, and people stacking an additional battery on their phone…
In my mind, it always Ive’s narrating. 🤪If only we could have Jonny's gorgeous English accent narrating it.
since 5% (probability) has been declared significantExactly - since when is <10% difference, "substantial"?![]()
The standard and plus phones will probably not change much over the next couple years. If the 16 Pros change next year (maybe to an under display face id) then the standard/plus won't get it until 2025.Coming from iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone X before that - I like up upgrade at each ‘major’ refresh. I can’t quite work out if the 15 Pro qualifies, but I think the material change, the bezel change, and the move from flat to curved edges, will make this phone the new norm, from a core design perspective, for the next few years
If you simply count it down like the old ways then we are starting with 11 series then the 12 series would be 11S.If they were still doing S series models, would the 15 technically be the S or the 14/16? I think the last one was the XS right? Seems like all the updates are marginal until they go back to the rounded models in a year or two (if they ever do).
It is a daily nuisance for me when I wake up and don’t have my glasses on, hold the phone too close to my face, it doesn’t unlock, and I have to hold it 6 inches away, sometimes multiple attempts, so it unlocks. “You’re holding it wrong” isn’t the answer.I've been using Face ID for a good three years now. I still prefer fingerprint unlock.
I certainly noticed the 20 grams difference between the 12 Pro & 13 Pro.I won’t argue that the dimensions are pretty much the max that we should see in a phone, but the hype here over 19 grams (and that will not be confirmed until Tuesday) is ridiculous, no one will spend more time with the phone in their hands because of the weight…

I own a 13 Pro and I wouldn't say the new features are not worth the price tag (that's down to each individual) the upgrade is substantial vs the 13 Pro.Another year of abysmal upgrades, skipping this one as well. The features are not worth the price tag for me and I currently own a 13 Pro Max.
I’m the same and I think the major refresh is next year for sure. I’d love to get 15 Pro, but I think I can get through another year with the 12P. Still debating. A17, X70 and Pro-Motion are the big upgrades for me. I always debate Pro Max, but they’re just cartoonishly big for me and I have big hands. Periscope lens though… Apple never makes it easy. The last phone I was actually excited about was X. I think 16 could be that exciting redesign and it makes more sense to upgrade to an exciting new product instead of the ultimate refinement of what I already own. The three year super cycle itch is real though and I’ll be watching.Coming from iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone X before that - I like up upgrade at each ‘major’ refresh. USB-C is not enough?I’m the same and I think the major refresh is next year for sure. I’d love to get 15 Pro, but I think I can get through another year with the 12P. Still debating. But the 12 Pro came with a USB-C to a lightning, so there's no reason you can't use your current adapter 😊Just as you 'BradMacPro' I also have an iPhone 12 and would like to upgrade to 15 pro (???) up until now I've been able to utilise previous iPhone charging power adapters but now I/we will have to purchase a £19/$19 charging adapter, this to me is utterly wrong. Where will it end, say we need a new shaver, electric tooth brush ECT, ECT we can't do what Apple says we can do, because the iPhone 15 only has a USBC cable in the box with the iPhone.🥴🥴
As part of our efforts to reach our environmental goals, iPhone 11 does not include a power adapter or EarPods. Included in the box is a USB‑C to Lightning cable that supports fast charging and is compatible with USB‑C power adapters and computer ports.
We encourage you to re‑use your current USB‑A to Lightning cables, power adapters, and headphones which are compatible with this iPhone. But if you need any new Apple power adapters or headphones, they are available for purchase.

Let's see if apple will include an USB-C cable. I read everywhere that now only one cable needs to be carried and that everyone has such a cable (I don't). So maybe Apple will not include it for saving some bucks ehhm I mean for the environment and climate.Just as you 'BradMacPro' I also have an iPhone 12 and would like to upgrade to 15 pro (???) up until now I've been able to utilise previous iPhone charging power adapters but now I/we will have to purchase a £19/$19 charging adapter, this to me is utterly wrong. The screen on the standard 15 pro is much bigger than on the 8 Plus, so comparing the 8 Plus to the 15 Pro Max is night and day!8 Plus:
H: 158.4 mm (6.24 in)
W: 78.1 mm (3.07 in)
D: 7.5 mm (0.30 in)
M: 202 g (7.1 oz)
15 Pro Max (rumored)
H: 159.9mm (6.29 in)
W: 76.7mm (3.01 in)
D: 8.25mm (0.32 in)
M: 221g (7.79oz)
I still miss TouchID and my home button, but do like my 13PM a great deal.
It still protrudes more than 13 Pro and that is too much alreadyThicker = a camera bump that doesn’t protrude quite as far. Maybe it was getting to be a bit much even for Apple?
