I won’t argue that the dimensions are pretty much the max that we should see in a phone, but the hype here over 19 grams (and that will not be confirmed until Tuesday) is ridiculous, no one will spend more time with the phone in their hands because of the weight…
And with all the complainers here about battery life, and people stacking an additional battery on their phone…
It’s still lighter and lighter is better.

Will be tuned in on 9/12. I see a iPhone 15 Pro in my future. A couple of things to evaluate once all is revealed. Not the least of which is color and capacity vs. price. Will need to consider delivery time as well.

The Ti is pure marketing, no technical reason for it
Actually, it’s pure science. It’s all about its impressive weight-to-strength ratio and Apple will (as they should) market that.

Aluminum’s low specific gravity (2.7 g/cm3) means that it’s considerably lighter than counterparts such as steel, which is about three times as heavy. Although titanium is about two-thirds heavier than aluminum, its inherent strength means that you need less of it. In fact, you need a fraction of the amount of titanium to get the same physical strength you would get with aluminum. Its high melting point means it trickier, read: more expensive, to use in fabrication. Again: you can count on a gorgeous video about the manufacturing process on Tuesday.

I always had a case on my phone, which adds more thickness, and I don’t like the ultra thin cases I like something with protection so I’m not gonna really feel the difference. But when I get my phone I’m going to wait until case manufactures work out the kinks I remember the first cases I got for my 12 mute switch hole was off some
Modern iPhones do not need cases for protection. It is just a user choice.

Still wish they would have kept the 5.8" screen of the Xs and when they reduce the bezels they also reduce the physical size of the phone instead of increasing the screen size (and the physical size) going forward. Oh well, keeping with the 13 mini until I can't I guess.

So do I, and upgrading the Mac’s instead.

Just the other day, I pulled out a 3G and a 4s to see if they would charge/boot. They did. But what I was most struck by, was how small they were - almost ridiculously small. Because of that size, they were way more pocket-friendly. Was wild to see the difference between them and my 14 Pro.

Even my 13 Mini feels big comparing to the older phones I had.
I wait for when the flips comes and by so bringing back the size of the early phones.
If I need an iPad Mini I take that with me.

That’s approximately half a house mouse of average weight.

Or a very small Roborovski hamster. Whatever the hell that is.

Edit: oh I actually have owned a Roborovski hamster! Cool. I didn’t know that was the kind of hamster he was. I will notice one Roborovski hamster less of weight on the phone. I’m that delicate and ladylike! 😆
So glad to be updated on the Roborovski hamster, which I’ve never heard about

Apple could have put so many more changes in the 14 Pro including all these I imagine, but then what would they do this year to sell a iPhone? This year gets USB C update is over due but that neither a 3nm process or 2 GB ram if rumours are true is not a reason to update for myself as I wont notice the difference over the 14 Pro, give it a few years and yes I will notice its faster or lighter or more cheaply made, but right now updating each year to have and I detest this term 'The latest and greatest' really makes my teeth grind, because the latest isn't always the greatest. Take the 13 pro, that had better battery life than my 14 Pro and that's with so many things turned off including the always on display.

Upgrading each year for myself at least has become a mugs game. Now I was impressed with my mac mini Pro 1TB that's blazingly fast, but that was a 6 year update from my recently deceased maxed out 2017 iMac. I liked waiting and and feeling a difference, not looking at the same shape and bump with such minor changes they cant really be noticed. I can still get photos off my iPhone fast enough because its a phone and they are mostly cat pictures or nice sunrises or friends etc, I tend to use more it for calls to clients and use iMessage and a few apps I need (banking etc) and thats not worth a yearly stretch of my wallet for more of the same. Or 19 grams less of the same this time.

Man I am convinced that Apple will have a bit of decency and not raise the prices bearing in mind the little to no difference from previous generation to this one.

So glad to be updated on the Roborovski hamster, which I’ve never heard about
When I bought mine, he was sold under the label of “Siberian Hamster”. I never heard of a Roborovski hamster until today when I did a search on what different small rodents weigh.

I was trying to equate these measures to something small and familiar we could relate to. I thought a mouse would be light enough, but apparently mice are denser and heavier than I would have thought!

Half a mouse is an unpleasant measure! So let’s go with a petite Roborovski hamster.

less weight, less height, less width at the same displays size , everything matters at this point
All my senses are top notch so for me when everything gets reduced, its awesome...we had enough of going big and big and heavier
Or you could answer the question openly and honestly?
The size of the display wasn't mentioned, neither was the width or height.

Sure, for the first day or two you’ll notice a difference, once you start using it for a whole, you just use your tool…
After almost three years I still regularly notice that the iPhone mini is heavier than I'd like. It's not as delightfully light to hold as the OG SE/5S/5 was.

Increased thickness suggests bigger battery?
Not necessarily, because width and height is decreasing, due to thinner bezels. The increased thickness is probably at least in parts to compensate for that.

Next year when the Pros get taller, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also get thinner again.
