I am livid. Up at 5am per usual and order using my Apple account balance. It won’t take it and trying to charge as a credit card. Call Apple yeah we know about it. Trying to push it through by switching me to a team member that can do it. Disconnected. After hour and a half wait. This is the worst ever. Never had this problem before. I am on hold again calling back for another 50 min wait. Apple screwed so many for launch day using Apple balance. Showing Oct 9-16 now.

Never EVER again will I use Apple balance again after this on a pre order.
I think this is a good mantra in general - avoid the account balance for preorders. Every time I've tried to use the balance for a physical item, it is a problem. I can't rely on it to work as a payment method at my local Apple Store, which is just bananas. Something isn't right, even all these years after Apple unified the gift card/account balance systems.

Remember that if you are paying in full for your device, you may have a credit card that has good warranty coverage. My Chase card covers the phone just by nature of using it to make my monthly bill payments every month.

Why, and how are good questions. Who doesn't matter a whole lot. What's done is done, don't waste time on blame.
Not really. They are all intrinsically linked. You need to know why it happened which will lead to who was responsible for the disorganised chaos, in order to ensure it does not happen again. It resulted in Apple losing sales. That’s very serious. It’s proper management and people need to take accountability.

I haven't preordered/upgraded on day 1 in years (usually wait a month or so after launch), but am upgrading my 13PM to 15PM, so I'm ready after skipping the 14 for the first year not upgrading.

I too loaded all my AT&T info in the app yesterday to prepare for 8am EST this morning but between the iPhone and iPad apps, and browser sites on both, all of it was saying "Almost There" for nearly 15 min, the phone app finally loaded to complete my order but I kept getting the same error as everyone else when it tried to load the info to move forward. Took forever and so frustrating after quitting and relaunching over and over.

Finally got the mobile browser to load, it had all my info in and I was able to check out smoothly for launch day morning pick up near my apt in NYC, 15PM Blue 256GB. Confirmation email at 8:26 am EST

I have always pre ordered using my Apple balance with out issue. I save through out the year and put full price of phone. This is the first time with this issue. Never again though as I said.

got the same issue with the app but I finally confirmed my pre order at 8.20 am

delivers on the 22nd

Nah. The issues were Apple servers. I had a similar problem but with Apple Pay taking two tries to go through. The added delay was just enough time to kick me out of the Apple Store pickup appointment I had made for 9/22 and force me into October delivery. Pshaw.

I just took advantage of T-Mobiles upgrade offer. I’ve been an AT&T customer for years and was with Cingular prior to AT&T’s acquisition. I had Cingular prior to the OG iPhone and purchased the original model back when it first came out. People thought I was nuts back then. Who’s laughing now?LOL.

Anyway AT&T’s service has gone downhill. I’ve had issues getting a good data signal at my office downtown in the small city where I work. I got really good coverage at home but moved a year ago about 10 minutes away to a neighborhood just as populated but not quite as close to the expressway and my AT&T signal there has been bad as well.

I had the iPhone 12 Pro with an eSIM and used T Mobile’s app to take the network for a test drive. I get good coverage both at home and at work and didn’t notice any issues in the areas AT&T did cover well either so making the switch was a no brainer. The data signal got so bad I signed up for a $20 a month prepaid T-Mobile data plan two months ago. I should’ve just switched back then but wanted to be sure I’d get the same kind of deal on an iPhone 15 Pro through T Mobile that AT&T would’ve offered since I paid my iPhone 12 off a year ago and sure enough not only is the deal for the phone the same but I get better coverage and I’ll be looking at $95 bucks a month including taxes and fees versus $106 and some change with AT&T alone but I’m actually saving an additional $20 since I can drop the T Mobile prepaid data plan.

I can’t believe how bad AT&T’s coverage has become. Who would’ve thought their network would’ve taken a step back? I’m sure there’s some kind of cell tower issue in the city where I live but I’ve experienced the piss poor coverage at work since some point after upgrading from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone 10. Our office used to be closer to the expressway and not right downtown so I’m thinking that’s why AT&T’s coverage was acceptable for me at one point and no longer is. I don’t live in a rural area either. I live in Metro Detroit. There are 8 to 10 million people spread out within an hour of Detroit. It’s amazing to me how bad AT&T is in our downtown here which has only grown the last 20 years. If you’re familiar with Metro Detroit you’d have heard of the city I live in.

Bye, bye AT&T. I can’t say I’ll miss you. I was saving big back when I had A&T for home Internet, DirectStream TV when AT&T owned them and my wireless plan though them. Now? Not so much. I’m switching my phone to T Mobile, going with our local cable company for faster Internet speeds at a better price and switching over to YouTube TV for TV plus the streaming services I already use. Not to mention I’ll be getting Netflix for free as a perk from T-Mobile as well so there’s more savings on top of what I’ll already be saving there too.

Enjoy the complimentary data breaches that go with the service. 😆

Got it. 15PM. It was like 830am before I got in. Then I picked the wrong address because somehow my old address keeps popping up even though I delete it in Settings > Wallet and Apple Pay. Had to wait a few hours before I was able to edit the shipping address, but it finally let me. Says "Arrives Oct 9-16th." Bummer.

I did the pre order thing and check in a couple hours ago. Nov 6th delivery.
ehhh don’t need it that bad.

Got now „Preparing for shipment“ status with 22nd September as delivery date here in Germany.

I’ve ordered a 15 Pro White 256GB about 2 minutes after the store has been opened.
One or two minutes later the errors began also here in Germany.

Any chances a delivery of Oct 4-9 could be moved up to 9/22? Really annoyed having to figure out what day I’ll need to be around to sign for this delivery.
Hoping the same.

I tried to change my delivery to a pick-up, but they can't, which seems ridiculous. This after speaking to a human. smh

Got an error in the Apple Store app (as other people have also posted) when I tried to pay for my pre-order. App then crashed and upon relaunching was told that the saved configuration was no longer valid. Put in a new order and got a confirmation. About 20 minutes later I got another confirmation for what appeared to be my original order. So now there's two orders... was just able to cancel one of them. Hope nothing got screwed up any more than that.

Preorder was stressful and messy this year. Finally managed to get on the website (app was useless) at 13:21 UK time. Didn’t help that the store went down again repeatedly after getting to the order page!

I get that it’s challenging to build reliable e-commerce for that instant demand, even if you’re a trillion dollar company, but Apple could significantly reduce their hassle by having say a rolling 08:00 launch in each time zone. Would save some people from getting up so early as well.

Took 30 minutes. I kept getting kicked out when entering my CC security code. Finally was able to place the order, but has to do in store pick up Friday instead of getting it shipped in two weeks.
