iPhone 15 Demand Predicted to Be Lower Than iPhone 14: Are You Planning to Upgrade?

Only on the Max model though according to the rumours. I'm using a 14 Pro. I want the best camera but I'm not buying the massive awkward to carry phone for it.
Ditto. I hope the iPhone 16 pro will bring the periscope camera (and more). If it isn't a one-handed phone, I won't buy it...even if the tech is superior on the larger more awkward model. I want a smartphone, not a phablet.

Yup, exactly. Will be my first iPhone. Haven't considered buying an iPhone until they switched to USB-C. Finally Europe helped Apple see the light...or at least helped Apple make the change without seeing the light.
The switch to usb-c is meaningless aside from AC source. How many would mimic a iPad to a display using wired? Possibly if you utilize wired external storage in some manner. Never considered as a win for iPhone consumer. Maybe the EU thinks that. :D

well.......bought a refurb 6s cuz my original died while waiting for the 15, but after holding my sisters 14 pro not too keen on the weight and I was was thinking going pro max ??, does anyone know if you can fit wheels to lesson the issue
Well to be honest, the 14 Pro Max is indeed pretty heavy. The weight has been a little bit of an issue for me on the first week of using it especially since I do have small hands, but I eventually got used to it. The edges are also pretty sharp, so using it with a case feels a lot more comfortable for me to hold. So I’m pretty happy with it speaking of right now.

Not really sure if the 15 will be any lighter tho (maybe the titanium frame will actually help with that), but the rumors say it will come with more curved edges so they probably won’t be as sharp as those on the 14 Pros.

The following users in my inner circle are upgrading.

Myself - From 13 Pro
My better half - From 12 mini (might be a hard sale, may pass)
Inlaw #1 - From iPhone SE2020
Inlaw #2 - From iPhone XR

Going to try to get us all into 15 Pro's if possible only one user has a separate work phone (another iPhone SE2020) trying to dump lighting as soon as possible.

Charging cables frequently wear out, it happens. You can always donate your old lightning cables to people that still use older phones through various sources; no one says you have to throw them into the ocean.

I can't wait to be rid of lightning though I know it will take some time. Already have several USB-C cables from iPads, so no need to buy anything, just a new phone.
So your argument is “because lightning cables wear out”? Last I checked, they’re consumer products, so what incentive do they have to make them last beyond 1-2 years? There will always be something new, but will already be obsolescent by the time you open it. I used to be that way, to have the latest and greatest. These days, iPhone is made so well that from my 13PM, the upgrade is negligible.
But hey, that’s the beauty of capitalism – spend your dollar however you’d like mate! USB-C cables will wear out too.

We’ve heard about the hardware improvements in the iPhone 15 however the software improvements may be encouraging to upgrade
Also less demand and higher prices may be a wash

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today predicted that demand for the iPhone 15 series will be lower than that of the iPhone 14 series this year. Kuo said the lower demand could make it challenging for Apple suppliers to grow revenue in the second half of 2023.

The upcoming iPhone lineup should consist of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All four models are rumored to be equipped with a USB-C port and the Dynamic Island, which is currently exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models. Additional features are rumored for the iPhone 15 Pro models, including a faster A17 Bionic chip, titanium frame, customizable Action button, thinner bezels around the display, Wi-Fi 6E support, up to 5-6x optical zoom for the Pro Max camera, and more.

iPhone 15 Pro models will likely cost $100 to $200 more than iPhone 14 Pro models in the U.S., according to Tim Long, an analyst at British bank Barclays. These price increases could temper demand for the devices, especially as some consumers may be reducing their discretionary spending due to above-average inflation over the past few years.

In the end, Kuo's prediction is still just a prediction, and we'll have to wait and see how well the iPhone 15 series sells. The addition of a USB-C port has been a long-awaited feature among tech enthusiasts, and the Dynamic Island expanding to the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could help to boost sales of those lower-end models.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 series in early September. Are you planning to upgrade? Let us know in the comments section.

Nope. Apple has fooled me so many times. I will be skipping this years model for sure. Until I see something extremely innovation such as that of the Samsung, I will be skipping out on Apple. I've been purchasing the similar if not the same iPhones year after year. For sure Not this year. : )

No mini = hard pass. I have the $ for a new iPhone without breaking a sweat, and love having the best camera, but just not interested in a larger phone.

Don't think prices will be going down any further.

What are we going to do when Apple announces the iPhone Ultra? 😭😭
My 13 still has 100% battery capacity and fills all my needs flawlessly, therefore no need to upgrade.
But when did you buy your 13? Apple is currently selling them. I bought a 13 Pro Max as soon as it was released and my battery health is 95% after almost 2 years… I’m thrilled with my battery health, but it makes me curious about how long you’ve had yours and what you do to keep it at 100%.

Higher price coupled with on-going inflation will definitely lower demand. Not sure what Apple's thinking here.
Inflation means almost everything is getting more expensive, money loses part of it's value.
So why would Apple not raise prices? They have to pay more for employees, parts, shipping, rent for stores.

Not saying Apple's products are cheap, and a profit margin of 44% is really healthy.
As long as Apple has this strong brand and people want to buy their products, they surely don't see the need to lower prices.

Take other (luxury) brands for example, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, you don't see them lower prices to inrease demand. They increased prices in 2023 as well.

Raincoat for $5400 anyone?

Okay after doing more research, I feel like iPhone 15 is what the XS was to the iPhone X. VERY minor upgrades with a higher price tag. But we shall see…
I prefer XS models over a regular iPhone model. Internally, everything is better than the previous model such as; chip performance, camera upgrade, battery life and so much more.

Life is too short and don't resist.

Must upgrade to iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. Let's gooo! 🤍

Higher prices = lower demand
Lower prices = higher demand

That simple

But will there be more demand at the high-end of the market ? Bentley sold more cars after consultants told them to simply raise their prices.

Well I’m not living with my XS max another year. Count me in.

Likewise, I've been using my 7 Plus for 4.5 years. I need a new iPhone, regardless of price.

Phones cost as much as computers now, so I wait 4-6 years.

Exactly; well done !

If I don't need a new phone, I don't buy a new phone.

For me, upgrading is just a no-brainer. I always buy my iPhone in Germany tax-free (I live in Switzerland) so that I get 15% discount on release-day. That barely covers the price drop for a used iPhone, therefore it makes more sense to just sell it every year with like 100-150€ deduct again in Germany (as they are willing to pay more than other countries).

I agree with your statement only because the XS Max got the larger screen compared to the x which i still miss :(

I prefer phablets, hence I will be skipping the 15 for next years 16 pro max 6.9” display.

The years after that will prove to hard to resist upgrading if ross youngs rumors hold, the iphone 17 will be epic the first full screen iphone.

You mean the first phone where the screen will break at the unprotected edges if you just put it down on a table more ... energetically?
