I'm still rocking an iPhone 12 Pro Max. So, yes, I will upgrade to the iPhone 15, but I wonder if I will do a Pro Max again.
You definitely need the Max for all the new features. It's strange year. 15 Pro lacks one of the biggest new features - the upgraded periscope camera. With 16 it's said we will have that on both models and the difference will be again just the size, which is expected to grow with few inches. (6.3" and 6.9")

You can‘t keep releasing the same product over and over again with a slight spec bump and minor design changes year to year and expect it to have increasing demand forever. At some point you need to come up with something new again.
Apple are being found out. The iPhone was revolutionary but 16 years later it really needs some major innovation.

I always wonder how people can hold on so long on their devices. Kinda admire it, but I'm too much of a tech head that I always have the need to have one of the newest devices. Longest period I was able to hold out was from iPhone X to iPhone 12. Besides from that I upgrade yearly...

Well there's nothing new that interests me. Things used to be different (i did rush and buy an iPhone 5S back then because there was a feature that interested me and my old phone was too slow for) but ... more megapixels? Replacing the notch with a fancier notch? Different design for something that sits in a pocket? Why?

It doesn't help that I'm not in the target market for a smartwatch. I haven't had a new electronic toy to be excited about in ages!

I'm on a 12 Pro Max and the wife is on the "X". In reality, my wife carries around a camera that she texts with and occasionally makes phone calls. Her battery life is finally starting to frustrate her so the new periscope lens has her VERY interested. Between that, USB-C connectivity (to go with all our other USB-C devices) and all the other updates, we're looking at a pair of phones on this cycle.

I’m on AT&T’s Next up plan, but instead of 12 months, these days you gotta wait 18 months or pay off half and trade in. I’m going to have to put in extra hours at work if I want it on launch day, which might be on my birthday this year. 😊😊😊

The following users in my inner circle are upgrading.

Myself - From 13 Pro
My better half - From 12 mini (might be a hard sale, may pass)
Inlaw #1 - From iPhone SE2020
Inlaw #2 - From iPhone XR

Going to try to get us all into 15 Pro's if possible only one user has a separate work phone (another iPhone SE2020) trying to dump lighting as soon as possible.

Because we just can’t wait to replace all of our lightning cables, right? 😂 sounds pretty “green” to me.
The only Apple product I have currently for USB-C is a Mac.

Charging cables frequently wear out, it happens. You can always donate your old lightning cables to people that still use older phones through various sources; no one says you have to throw them into the ocean.

I can't wait to be rid of lightning though I know it will take some time. Already have several USB-C cables from iPads, so no need to buy anything, just a new phone.

Yeah yeah same stuff different year: After a few minutes when pre order starts:
iPhone 15 Pro Max: Shipping 3-4 weeks
iPhone 15 Pro: Shipping 2-3 weeks
iPhone 15 Plus: launch day
iPhone 15: launch day

Higher prices = lower demand
Lower prices = higher demand

That simple

What is the price of a person's time? Save $500 by keeping the old phone I suppose. But you pay $1200 per year for phone contract let's say.

I have a friend rocking an antique half broken old model iPhone - "it still works" he says. He is not one to waste money, but he most likely has NOT considered that he is paying monthly cellular plan rates of $89.00 or $100.00, and his phone itself is worth about $100. Seems ridiculous to me.

I mentioned it to him and his phone company "upgraded" him to like an iPhone 12 or something for "FREE" at least. So many people miss out on what is the value of things.
