Those iPod Nanos were absolutely beautiful. The 5C was the closest we got to that.

Why the F do people always equate colors with being "girly" and WTF is wrong with being girly?

You say iPod Touch and yet plenty of colors throughout that device's life... 🤷‍♂️
They didn't sell well because they were a year-behind, didn't have touch-ID, and carriers didn't push them. Just like the 5s and 5, and the 4, and the 3gs, and 3, everyone put their phones in cases. They still do, but they did then as well.

I'm a mid 40s dude and I like bright vibrant colors. Black and grays are boring as hell..

It's not that colors in general are "girly," but they picked soft coral toned colors for that series instead of the vibrant jewel tones they'd used on the iPod nano's and iPod mini's of the past. And they very obviously omitted a black option.

A lot of people like black phones and they forced everyone to upgrade to the 5S in order to get it, and then came back and said that it was the "premium materials" of the 5S as a justification for why the 5C flopped.

To make it a bit more clear on why everyone avoided the 5C:

holy crap these colors are downright awful; I wouldn't even call them "Colors" - this will get disliked but if the go into production, these will without a doubt be the ugliest iPhone ever.

Bring these back..

Apple did an excellent job with a Purple iPhone 12. The color was ahead of its time.

finally switching to usb, but once again running away from the clean lines that make their designs iconic. one step forward, one step back. we're just going to be stuck on a roller coaster of phones getting rounder and rounder until someone notices and fixes it every 5 years.

I wouldn’t put any stock in the colors shown. Wait until the real is revealed before you commence to complaining.
Seems to be the thing here. Everything Apple does is somehow not good enough. Apart from adding a pen, better zoom, and folding the phone (outside of zoom I am not sure people are really clamoring on about) the iPhone is as good or better than everything else. Not sure what the complaining is really about.

Normally I would agree with you… but ever since MacRumours turned into MacSpoilers*, I think this is the real deal.
Alas.
I hope you are right though!

*Yes, Yes I know I'm on a rumours site and should expect to have no surprises.
It was just a lame joke.

I'd say your percentages are backwards.
Not really, never see them very often irl

I prefer to live life in the fast lane and certainly wouldn’t countenance a case. I guess most people would agree judging by how rare cases are

The NEON colors of the 5C are VERY early 90s. I would never classify them as "girly" as they are neutral gender neon colors. They just never appealed to me, personally. The pastel colors in the 15 mockups are much more girly if not babyish to me.

All I know is that I'd like to take part in the next iPhone color focus group. Where can I sign up at?

Apple has dropped the ball on the non-Pro models every year tbh. This lineup takes the cake for worst if it's real.

I think a 5C/iPod nano-like lineup would be super popular, especially w 90s/00s style in fashion right now.
