Wow these cut outs are perfect 👌
Here’s mine for reference.
I’m going to an Apple Store tomorrow to replace it and will be thoroughly inspecting the new case before I leave.
Yeah yours is worse.. looks like we must accept a certain degree of wonkiness.. just like we must accept dust, screen, pixels etc. lottery for iPhones 😄

I actually like the silicone cases too. The feel of it and the look.

BUT, they are some of the most non durable cases I’ve ever owned. They always chip away on the edges so I decided not to get a silicone case this year
Going by preciseness of fit only, I probably like them a little more than the FineWoven and about the same as the Apple brand leather. The silicone cases and the old leather ones seemed to just pop on easily and stay put unless you need them to come off. My FineWoven had a wobble on one of the bottom corners that either developed over the first couple days or was always there and I didn't notice it at first. It was making an audible click if I picked up or held the phone in a certain way and felt like it was going to pop off or at the very least rub some of the finish off the titanium over months of going in and out of my pocket.

I did not hate the feel of the FineWoven material itself--it was ok. I just kept thinking what a shame it would be if I got a permanent gross looking food stain on it or something and had to replace it halfway down the road. It's just a lot of money for a case that's so sensitive to that kind of stuff.

Yeah, it's true, the hand wringing over this sillyness on the internet did get me thinking and did prompt me to take advantage of the 14 day return policy. But for such an expensive case, I want something that's proven to at least hang on for the life of the phone, and I know for a fact the silicone ones can do that. Honestly, I really wanted an Otterbox Symmetry or something like that, but Target didn't have any. Next best option was the Apple one.

I’ve been using mine since Friday evening. I wasn’t sure at first but I’ve grown to like it. I prefer it to the silicone, but not as much as leather. The pacific blue looks good with my blue iPhone. I haven’t been babying it and just used it as normal. There are no scratches or marks on it. The buttons work just fine and the cutouts are lined up well. So I’ve decided to keep it and applied scotchguard. I have a silicone winter blue too, but I’m returning the Apple clear as it’s too slippery for me.

I don't understand the claim of silicone cases being more durable, they also break down. There are many complaints regarding the silicone tearing off and peeling on the corners. I get wanting to have a durable case for $50/$60, but I don't think any of the Apple cases have been the pinnacle of durability. The leather also got worn down and torn/cracked, especially around the buttons.

I've only used my FW case for a couple of days. But so far no lint, scratches, or any other marks on it and I like the look of it. My main issue with it, like the leather cases, was I find it a little too slick to the touch. I like the tackiness of the silicone case and I wish the border of this new FW case was more tacky like that. A couple of times when grabbing the phone I feel like it could slip from my hand. It's the reason I quickly shelved my leather case in the past.

I don't mind the feel of the FineWoven case but I've never owned an Apple case that fit so poorly. The top left and bottom right corners are loose and as a result the case squeaks as you hold it.

If it was a $10 amazon case I would live with the poor fit, but not for $60.

Which model phone? I don't have that issue at all with my Pro Max.

I got the taupe fine woven case with low expectations and surprisingly been liking it on my green 15. Feels fine. When it gets wet, it dries quickly. I’m keeping it.

I have a black FW case for my 15 Pro Max. At first I was annoyed with it because the power button was very loose, wiggly, and noisy when it rattled around to boot. I liked it a lot otherwise. I ordered a Mous case to try instead, but in the meantime I went to the Apple store and swapped my FW case for a new one. The new FW has no button issues, and I’m very happy with it. Will see how it holds up over time, but I like the feel of it. It’s grippy enough to hold easily and very slim. I’m confident that it plus a screen protector is enough to survive a moderate drop and if that damages the case I’ll replace it. I did try the Mous when it arrived, but it’s just too bulky in comparison and the Magsafe feels a bit weaker. Retuning the Mous and sticking with the FW!

I think there are going to be very different experiences depending on how you handle your phone. I had a black silicone case for years on my 12 Pro Max, and it was in fine condition at the end. A little worn, but no chips or tears. It mostly lived in my pocket with my wallet or sitting on a charger or flat surface. On the other hand, my wife was on her second silicone case for her 12 mini when we traded it in for a 15. Her case looked terrible and we probably would have replaced it if we weren’t about to get new phones. Her phone is often loose in her purse with other things including keys, so I’m sure it gets banged up and that’s takes a toll.

same thing here. my silicone cases can last years while the wife's is destroyed. her 15 comes this week and then she can ditch the 12 and it's almost completely peeled silicone case. it's like 95% plastic at this point. once they start peeling it snowballs fast.

Yep. The worst that has ever happened to an Apple silicone case in my personal use is the edges get a little shiny. Most of my cases look pretty new when I'm done using them, including the Apple brand ones.

My oldest son though, is a completely different story. There is no case that can handle his abuse. After a month any case you put on his phone will be cracked, peeling apart, chipped, broken, and in need of replacement. And then of course he picks at them the more they fall apart.

My opinion: it doesn't matter what the case looks like as long as it protects the phone like it's supposed to. Apple's silicone and leather cases have always gone the distance with my phones, but I see plenty of them out in the wild with the layers peeling off the outside.

Yeah, the silicone cases are terrible. I'm curious how these FW cases will wear over time though. Initial impressions don't look good.

But I also think once this first wave of negativity blows over, people will begin to like these.

I’ve found the silicone one too sticky.

Sometimes it would make it difficult to place in short pockets

I was just thinking today that I think it seems like people are warming up to it.
Once people actually tried it on the phone and saw them in person with the device they changed their mind. All of the hate and negative hype was one from YouTube video before anyone even had the cases in their hands.

I hope they release new colors in spring and that they bring them back for the next phones also.

Also hysteria and negativity creates hype and generates clicks.
