Maybe I missed the first ”story” on this but….what’s Apple’s aversion to leather? I don’t get it!

I’d say…3rd party vendors need to step up with some “quality“ leather cases now that Apple decided, for whatever reason, to abandon the playing field.

Decoded
Bullstrap
Ryan London
Pad&Quill
Andar

have some good leather cases.

Who said that FineWoven cases cant patina? I have some unwashable marks after just 10 days of use 😄
edit: its not stain or anything like that, i am keeping my hands clean while using my phone
Similar “patina” on my evergreen that I’ve used 10 out of 14 days I’ve had the phone. Especially along the edges where I hold the phone.

How are the weight and height of the lip around the screen?
I dont have the case on my phone at the mo as testing a finewoven but minimal lip, even less with we screen protector and weight wise, I'm not one that notices the difference between 15g and 20g. If you look at my media history, I've posted pics

Unfortunately none of them even come close to Apple’s fit.

I´ve found the fit to be lacking in the 13 and 14 Apple leather cases for the Pro Max in that the phone pops out a bit in one of the corners quite often at random. Never had this problem with earlier iterations of the Apple leather cases and hasn´t happened with my Decoded leather case for the 15 Pro Max.

Agreed; the decoded is very clicky onto the corner. It's never popping out. So is my finewoven to be fair

Alright @iFone88 and @Hedo. Giving me something to think about. I might be willing to live with the stupid writing on the camera bump if the fit is close to the Apple leather cases.

Unfortunately I wasn't really convinced with how the Finewoven MagSafe wallets feel in the hand, it was very Nylon like. As a result, I found myself a now otherwise almost extinct Umber Leather Wallet at a third party store, last one in stock, unfortunately no clearance discount. Bought it to pair with my Pacific Blue Finewoven case and am very pleased with the combination - it also sadly reminded me how much nicer Leather is in the hand but otherwise yeah thought I would share a pic

alright looks like im returning all my finewoven stuff. I think my greatest nitpick that I cant get over is the buttons getting loose or loosening up over time. I tried exchanging at an apple store and going through the offerings they have in stock and almost all of them had one button loose or the other. So for now looks like I'm gonna wait till they get whatever productions tightening up. The leather cases I've had never had these button issues. I've always bought Apple cases cause of the unparalleled button feel, but this ain't it.

Thought I’d give the FineWoven case and wallet 2 weeks to see how it turned out, I was sceptical of the quality based on initial review’s and customer feedback but so far I’m happy with them I guess time will tell.

I’ve had leather cases on my iPhones for years now and TBH the quality of Apples leather cases has been going downhill over the last few years with the leather seemingly getting thinner every year until the last one that hardly felt or smelt like leather at all, the only upside the leather had over FW is it’s ability to handle hand sweat. I keep my hands pretty clean and don’t have the ol sweaty hand syndrome, however I’ve noticed on the edges of the FW wallet especially that you end up with the edges tuning black after about a week of average use whereas the Leather wallet never had this issue.

As it is I’ve got to wash the wallet with damp soapy liquid once a week to keep it looking good which may lead to colour loss over time.

On the other hand the leather on the last magsafe wallet was so thin that after around 4 - 6 months the surface was wearing off, I’m all for a bit of patina but that wasn’t character that was just plain stripping away! it used to wear off especially badly in a straight line down the front where the numbers are embossed on cards. The same impression may appear over time with the FW but I can’t see the surface stripping off.

I’m not rough with my phone nor do I baby it and I’ve yet to see the dreaded scratching issue every reviewer on YT seems to insists happens just by looking at or breathing on the material, I’m of the opinion if you go out of your way to scratch the case it’ll scratch just like any other on the market! As to stains I’ll wait and see, aside from accidents I’m not inclined to put my phone down in random puddles of liquid anayway so can’t see this being a major issue.

On the point of the wallet/MagSafe charger leaving an imprint on the case, it does, it’s more noticeable in some lighting condition than others but it’s definitely there, the exact same thing happened with the leather cases of years past so it’s not an issue of quality, in any case the only time I’d see that is when I take the wallet off at night to put the phone on the charging stand.

I’ve seen a lot of people say the plastic edges on the FW case are really slippery, I can’t say I’ve felt the same, they actually feel pretty grippy with the course texture, also they’re not plastic they’re FW that’s been bonded with some form of resin (confirmed by iFixit when they cut one in half).

Overall 2 weeks in I’m pretty happy with FW, they’ve not ended up the wreak that a lot of reviewers say they will (pics below from just before writing this). Do I think it’s worth £120 for the case and wallet, no but it’s up to people if they’re willing to pay for that which I was.

Those with the FW case.

Can you please angle the phone downwards and look to see if you can see daylight between the case and the charging port hole from the front of the phone?

Just noticed on mine that I can. If this isn't normal then I will request a replacement.

I reported this issue to decoded on my leather case, they said to return for replacement but they were out of stock so ended up refunding me without need to return
Yes I can. I absolutely don’t view it as an issue. I would have used this case for a year and never noticed if not for your post.

I played golf in the rain yesterday and kept my iPhone 15 Pro in the front bin of golf cart through the entire round. I purposely didn't baby my iPhone because I wanted to see how well the fw case would stand up to the rain. Even after getting rained on and bumped around in the golf cart for several hours, my fw case and (more importantly) my iPhone 15 Pro still looks as good as new. I'm not sure a leather case would have done better in those conditions.

What colour combo you rocking?
